Ashton's POV

When we walked back in the cabin, Evie was bombarded with questions by Kristin. "How are you? How was it? What color is your fur? Did everything go okay?" Evie just nodded too tired to answer.

"Kristin maybe you can ask everything tomorrow?" I spoke. She looked at me confused and then looked at Evie. I guess she figured out why. "Evie do you want me to help you get to bed or are you more comfortable with Kristin?" I hoped she would be comfortable with me helping her, but I wanted to leave the option.

"You can help me, if that's okay." She said in a tired voice.

"Of course." I smiled. She almost collapsed to the ground because she was so tired, so I picked her up bridal style and walked over to the bathroom.

"I could have walked myself." Always so stubborn.

"I know, I just wanted to help you." She probably couldn't, but I know she doesn't like to feel weak. She gave me a small smile as a reply as I sat her down on the side of the bath. "I think it is best you have a bath now; it will help with relaxing your muscles and lessen the soreness you will have tomorrow." She gave me a nod and I filled up the bath. "I can leave if you want and come back when you're done?"

"No that is fine, I will probably fall asleep if you leave." She let go of the blanket that she was still holding and got in the bath. Shit my mate is naked in a bathtub. Okay think old, wrinkled grannies. That didn't help much, but now I just wanted to help my newly shifted mate. So, I helped her get clean and stayed by her side till she was done with the bath. I helped her out of the bath, and with her pj's and carried her to our bed. I pushed the blanket a little to the side so she could get in and pulled it over her.

"Good night baby." I whispered and gave her a kiss on her forehead.

"Goodnight." She said in the same sleepy tone.

I walked out of the bedroom and went to the kitchen to get a drink. Once I found something, I liked I went to the living room, where Kristin and Josh were sitting, and sat down on a lounge chair.

"So how did it go?" Josh asked.

"I think it went okay, it just took so long, and I couldn't stand looking at her in pain. I wanted to take her pain away but could only do so much. But once she shifted, she was so beautiful. Her fur is the same color as her hair, she just has some white on her paws and some cute white spots on her ears." I realized I sounded like a love-struck teenager, but at the moment I didn't care. Because I kind of was a love-struck teenager, just not a teenager.

"I can't wait to see her, and for you to change babe." Josh said to Kristin.

"Yeah, I thought I would maybe change this full moon too, but I don't know. Maybe with my genetics I will change once we've completed the mate bond." Kristin blushed; I did not know that girl could blush.

"I thought you already did?" I mean with the smell; everyone would have thought.

"No, I gave her my mark, but we have just been having fun, not fully mating." Josh blushed. That's the difference between him and I. He is kind of shy with girls, he is (apparently) still a virgin. Wanted to wait, till he met his mate. Whereas I was a man whore, I don't regret sleeping with other girls, I do regret sleeping with so many. But they all knew they weren't my mate.

"Ah okay, well I guess, just wait till you're both ready. But for now, I'm going to bed as well. This day was tiring. I brushed my teeth and striped down to my boxers, I walked over to the other side of the bed, laid down next to Evie and pulled her to my chest.

The next morning, I woke up with a sleeping Evie still in my arms. She will probably sleep for a few more hours. Not that I mind, I like having her sleeping in my arms. I still can't wrap my head around how beautiful she is. How the wind went through her fur when we ran and how she rolled over when she tried to stand for the first time. She looked like a newborn fowl, which isn't that weird because she kind of is. I really hope everything will be alright now between us. Now that she's a wolf she will feel the mate bond even more. I can't imagine not sleeping beside her. Yes, she has me wrapped around her pretty little finger, not that I really care. I fell back asleep while thinking about yesterday.

A few hours later I felt her beginning stir as she woke up in my arms. "Good morning baby." She looked up with her big green eyes and smiled. That smile is so fucking cute.

"Hi." She said in a sleepy voice.

"How did you sleep?" I asked while smiling at her.

"Good really good, I can't wait to go for a run again. It was so much fun." Can she be any more perfect.

"How about we go on a rum to visit Alex today to say goodbye." She looked sad at the mentioning of leaving. "You will see them again, and like I said before, they can come visit any time."

"You're right, and I would love to go. Let me go grab a shower and I'll be ready in 10."

"Want some company?" I laughed but was actually not joking.

"Sure, why not." She shrugged.

"Wait really?"

"No, go make me some food please, I'm hungry." She laughed and walked away. Yep, that's my mate, teasing like always. I'll punish her later, she will learn.

I went to the kitchen, finding Josh and Kristin already eating breakfast.

"Good morning, what's for breakfast?"

"Morning, just some toast, eggs and bacon." Josh replied.

"Evie still sleeping?" Kristin asked.

"No, she was just taking a shower."

"Okay, see you later." Kristin stood up and walked in the downstairs bathroom. Seriously she can go in, but I can't. That is just not fair.

"So, I suggested to go to Alex today, for a run and to say bye and stuff." I told Josh.

"Nice, maybe Kris and I will tag along, but take the car of course."

"Sure. Now I'm going to call my dad for an update. I'll talk to you later."

I walked over to the porch, sat down at a chair and called my dad. At the second ring he picked up. "Hello son, how is everything?"

"Hey dad, so Evie shifted yesterday, she's this beautiful red brownish wolf."

"That sounds nice, did everything go okay?"

"Yeah it just took so long, I hated seing her in pain."

"I understand, but the first shift always takes long, you knew that already." Dad said

"Yeah I know, it just sucked. So how is everything going on your end. Any more rogue problems?"

"No, it has been quiet on our end. No more attracts, it has been a little too quiet. We think that they are planning something big."

"Fuck, we will be back Friday night so I can look into it than. I will ask Alex here if he's had any problems as well."

"That is a good idea, it is always best to keep allies. Espacially close ones."

"About allies, have you told Evies parents about her shift?" I asked nervously

"No I haven't, but they already knew she was marked so I think they already know. But there was nothing they could have done anyways." I knew he was right, but her dad still scares the shit out of me. I heard a soft knock, turned around and saw Evie standing in a beautiful red sundress.

"Okay thank you. But dad I got to go, I'll call you later okay? Bye"

"Sure son, good luck today." I hung op the phone and pulled Evie to my chest.

"Hey babe, you look good."

"Thanks, how is everything going at the pack?" She asked

"Our pack, but anyway, apparently it's a little too quiet. So I don't really know."

"Oh okay, that's unusual?"

"Yeah it is, we had a problem with the rogues I told you about, but now they're just not doing anything. So yes that is really unusual." I saw the frown beginning to form on her face. "But don't worry about it now okay. Just relax a few more days, we will look into it later."

"Okay, if you say so. But don't think I won't want to talk about it later."

"Sure." I gave her a kiss. "Now how about we go on that run." Her whole face let up as she smiled and ran into the woods. "Where are you going." I shouted

"To shift" She shouted back. Seriously this girl.

"Don't you think we have to inform Josh and Kri-" Never mind she's already to far away. I decided to mind link Josh "Josh"

"Yes?"

"Evie and I are going for the run now apparently, she's already gone. So we will see you guys later."

"Sure, have fun." With that I cut the mindlink. Why haven't Evie and I completed this fucking mate bond, now I can't even mind link her. I shifted and ran after Evie. Damn that girl is fast and she had a head start, I couldn't be more proud at how fast she learned. I eventually cought up with her, jumped and put her down. I motioned for her to follow me.

After we ran for about an hour in the woods, we arrived at the border we were stopped by some guards and had to shift back. We both had our clothes with us, so I first got behind a tree to shift back.

"Don't shift back yet" I said softly to Evie, she nodded her big wolfy head. I turned to the guards "We are here to see Alex." I said in a stern but still kind of nice tone, I think.

"Why is she not shifting." One of the guards asked.

"Because she is my mate, and there will be no way that she is going to shift back here with you. Just tell Alex that Alpha Ashton and Luna Evie are here to see him." He gave me a nod and mind linked Alex.

"You can go." Of course, I can fucking go morons. I wanted to say but I had to stay nice. We walked over to the pack house and were welcomed by a happy looking Alex.

"Hey guys, how are you?" He said and looked at Evie. "Evie you look absolutely beautiful." I growled. "Yes, yes I know. Now come on in, Evie you know where the bathroom is right? You can shift back there if you want." Evie sprinted away to the bathroom and came back within minutes.

"Damn babe, you're getting good at this." I kissed her on her lips.

"Thank you, I am getting better, I think. It still kind of hurts, but not as bad as before." She smiled. "Hey Alex." She walked over to him and gave him a hug. Josh and Kristin arrived almost at the same time.

"So, you guys are leaving San Diego?"

"Yes, we have to go back to the pack. I know I didn't want to at first, but we discussed it and I can still be a pack doctor if I want. So yeah, we're leaving tomorrow." Evie said.

"It will be good for you Eve. Just don't forget about your friends here." He joked.

"Of course not, how could I forget an idiot?" Kristin said.

"Ouch, thanks. And here I thought we were friends." Alex put his hand over his hart like he was hurt.

"Kris be nice, of course we are, and you helped me so much. So, of course I will never forget you. And you can come visit us in Lupus Harbour and I could visit you here once in a while." Evie said.

"Yeah true, I will miss you though." Alex said.

"I will miss you too dofus." Kristin said.

"I meant Evie; I couldn't care less about you." Kristin fake pouted. "Okay, okay I will miss you a teeny tiny bit."

"I will miss you too Alex."

"Don't be a stranger okay?"

"Of course."

We said goodbye to a few more members of Alex's pack and went back to the cabin to collect everything we left. The rest of the evening we just watched a movie with Josh and Kristin.
