《》Chapter 43: Anastasia Rose Cullen

Carlisle sat in his study, two days after the incident with 'Thomas Elroy.' Carlisle was seething with anger, depressed with guilt, and shaking with anxiety. He wondered if he had been too late to save her. Thomas obviously had no idea how to change someone. He bit her and then almost killed her with not only her already given wounds, but also because all he did was bite her. No venom.
Carlisle almost killed the man. Hell, everyone wanted to. He attacked the person that brought them together. He killed their sense of peace.
Carlisle sighed at the memory from two nights ago. He was expecting Bella to wake up tomorrow, and Genesis either then or the day after. Carlisle stood as he heard his grandchild crying from the other room. He entered Edward's room and analyzed his son's hopeless expression as he tried to sooth his daughter. "Edward, you haven't fed in over a week. Go, I've got the little one." He said. Edward sighed, knowing Carlisle was right.
Edward handed him the child, sending him a thankful nod before speeding off. Carlisle smiled at the baby, and got a small toy to distract her with. "Everything will be okay soon, little Anastasia." He soothed. Rosalie appeared at the door, smiling weakly at her father and niece. "Rose," Carlisle smiled. He hadn't seen her since the incident. She blamed herself.
"Talk to me, Rose. What happened?" He asked. As much as it pained him, he wanted to know her perspective and how everything happened, he also wanted to help her. He wanted to know why she blamed herself. Rose nodded timidly and sat down next to him. "She sacrificed herself to save my life." She revealed. "He had gotten ahold of my throat. He was crushing it." She explained further, "He told her to choose who to die, herself or me. And, well you know." She sighed, her lip quivering as she remembered watching the pain surging through her.
"That's Not your fault, Rose." Carlisle said, "She chose to save you because she wanted you to keep living. She wouldn't want you to be sitting here and blaming yourself." He continued, "Besides, it was inevitable." He sighed. Rosalie raised an eyebrow, signaling him to explain. "We had talked about her changing. She wanted me to do it, and, technically, I did. The Volturi would have gotten her if she didn't change soon, anyway. I just wish it could have been less painful, and better circumstances." He explained.

Rosalie nodded her head in understanding. "Don't fret, Rose. She'll be back. She would never leave us." Carlisle comforted. Honestly, he was comforting them both at this point. He was scared. Scared that she wouldn't wake up. He was trying to have faith, however, looking at her still body every night, it was really hard to. Rosalie smiled and decided to change the topic a bit.
"Genesis Anastasia Swan." Rosalie spoke. Carlisle chuckled. He didn't realize that Anastasia was named after Genesis. It was very fitting. "What's her full name?" He asked. Rosalie let out a small laugh. "Anastasia Rose Cullen." Carlisle's eyebrows rose in amusement as he thought about how Rosalie's relationship with Bella got so much better than it was in the beginning. "I can't wait for them to meet her." Rosalie smiled.
"Me too."
Another day had passed and the girls were preparing Bella for when she wakes up. They had noticed her body fixing itself and were quite happy because they now knew they didn't lose her. Sadly, the only change in Genesis so far was her skin tone and temperature. However, that's normal for a dead body. They still held out hope for the eldest siblings return the next day, but, they weren't ready for Bella's reaction.
Bella's stretcher got wheeled into the living room as everyone stood around the room at a distance and Genesis was back in Carlisle's study. A few moments later, Bella started moving, analyzing her surroundings. She stood up and immediately looked at Edward, walking over towards him and hugging him happily. The two had a moment and left to hunt, leaving the rest of the Cullen's to worry about how they were going to break the news.
Jacob walked in the room with Anastasia in his arms. The Cullen family still hadn't gotten used to the fact that the baby is Jacob's imprint, however, it did cease further conflict with the wolves, so they were more thankful than anything. "Where'd she go?" Jacob asked as he noticed the empty stretcher. "Gone with Edward to hunt." Carlisle answered. Jacob nodded.
"I'm guessing you haven't told her yet?" Jacob asked. The Cullen's shook their heads. He nodded in understanding and gave Anastasia to Rosalie once he heard Bella and Edward arrive so he could greet them. "Carlisle, what are we going to tell Bella?" Chandler asked. Carlisle sighed, raking his hand through his hair, "The truth. She deserves to know." He explained.

Soon, Jacob returned with Bella and Edward, him getting ready to show off his imprint gleefully. Bella approached slowly, smiling wide when Anastasia greeted her with a smile. Once in her mother's arms, Anastasia put her little hand onto her face, showing her her memories. "What was that?" Bella asked, astonished. "Her memories. She's gifted." Edward explained with a proud smile. Bella smiled widely, then looked around until her eyes landed on Carlisle. Confusion was seen in her eyes.
"Where's Gen?"
Everyone sucked in a breath. There it is. The question they knew was coming yet weren't very prepared to answer. Jacob reached for Anastasia, his instincts telling him to grab her before Bella heard the news. Bella looked at him strangely and backed away. "What are you doing?" She asked. Jacob gave a weary smile, "Well, you just woke up. let's not push it, right?" He stuttered. "I'm fine. And why do you care so much?" She pushed.
"Oh boy..." Emmett sighed. "Do tell her, Jacob." Rosalie smirked. The two were trying to change the subject and stall for as long as possible. Carlisle didn't know why they would try to. It's not like she was going to sleep and forget until tomorrow. "Bella, look, it's a wolf thing," he started, "What's a wolf thing?" Bella seethed. Bella then gave Edward the baby before grabbing Jacob by the ear and tossing him outside.
Carlisle rubbed his face as he watched his new family member, already having enough of all the drama the day has ensued. "Edward, do something." Esme said. Edward only went back to admiring his feisty wife. Once Bella finally calmed down after throwing Seth into a tree, she finally came to terms with Jacob's relationship with her daughter. "Wait a Minute..." Bella paused. She looked around, confusion and an almost heartbroken look in her eyes.
"Where is Genesis?"
Everyone stood quiet. Carlisle sighed and made a motion with his hand for her to follow. He went into his study where Genesis laid still on a stretcher. Bradley and Bree sat on the couch on the side. The two were awaiting their mother's return, trying to be patient, however, they wouldn't leave her side. Leah and Seth checked in on them, even staying with them for hours from time to time. The two looked up once Carlisle entered the room, already knowing what was coming.
Bella entered the room slowly, her movements a bit shaky from shock. Genesis is dead. She couldn't believe her eyes. She was fine. She was alive when she gave birth. How did this happen? Bella ran her hand across her sister's cheek, noticing the coldness and lack of color from her pale skin. She then put her hand over Genesis's heart, and let out a dry sob when she felt no beat.
"How did this happen? Why?" She asked Carlisle. "She was attacked. The man that destroyed her hope years ago came to finish the job." He gritted out. Bella shook with rage. "Is she... gone...?" She asked, referring to if she had been turned or not. "We're hoping she wakes tomorrow. She was dying when I got her. I bit her. Several times. But we won't know for sure until tomorrow." He explained. Bella sighed, and took in an unneeded breath to calm herself, smiling as she felt the hope that her sister once radiated.
"She'd never leave us."

Author's Note Thing: Don't know if this is where to put this, but this story is something I'm writing and posting on RRL for the first time. Chapters are what I consider to be short, and I hope to finish the book quickly. PS: Is it better to have no cover, or a generic cover? Let me know if you read this.

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
