《》Chapter 40: Impossible

"I wonder how many times they've done it." Emmett's voice spoke from the floor. They were all gathered in the living room watching Emmett and Jasper play video games. "Why would you wonder that?" Genesis gave him a weird look. "You can't tell me you haven't." He turned to look at her with an accusing stare. Genesis kept eye contact with him, but ended up huffing in defeat. "You got me there." She confirmed.
"You're both weird." Esme said from the couch. "What? She's my little sister! I'm worried about her." Genesis sighed. Carlisle hugged her closer to his body, "I thought you trusted Edward." He said. She looked up at him and sighed, shaking her head. "It's not Edward I don't trust." She said. Carlisle raised his eyebrows, not exactly expecting her answer. "You don't trust Bella?" Alice asked, joining in on the conversation, "Why?" She asked.
"Don't get me wrong, I love Bella to death, but she could be pretty persuasive when it comes to getting something she wants, and I know she's been longing for Edward since you guys came back. She's also been wanting to become like you since the very beginning. She's an amazing person, but she's also been very spoiled. Which, isn't all her fault seeing as I spoiled her too." Genesis explained.
"You think she would manipulate Edward into doing something he doesn't want to?" Rosalie asked. Genesis shook her head, "No, no. It's not like I think he wouldn't want to, I'm sure he does, but, as we all know, he's always been the careful one. He probably doesn't want to while she's still human." She said. The group became quiet, pondering the thought. It's true, Bella never did take 'no' for an answer. "Come on guys, what harm could come from it? Like you said, Edward is very careful when it comes to Bella. There's no way he's going to hurt her." Alice reassured.

Genesis nodded, a smile making its way to her face as she made her way next to Jasper on the floor, taking the controller from him after he put it down from, her again, losing to Emmett. "Mom, what are you doing?" Jasper asked the small girl. Emmett cheekily started another match. "What do you think I'm doing? I'm winning." She said as she prepared for the match. And, like she said she would, she won.
"How?!" Emmett yelled in shock. "I've been playing this literally since it came out! How could you beat me?!" He questioned. "A lot of late nights without sleep, my son." She answered cheekily. "I haven't slept! I literally can't sleep! That doesn't make any sense!" He exclaimed. Genesis grinned, "I don't know. Guess it's just skill." She said. Everyone began laughing at their antics when Alice walked into the room holding a glass bowl of chips for the human girl.
Then, suddenly, Alice dropped the bowl, however, Genesis leapt forward and caught it just in time. "Hey, careful!" Genesis sighed in relief once she examined the bowl, noticing how there were no cracks or broken pieces, she sat it down on the floor and stood with the rest of the Cullen's, awaiting Alice's explanation. However, this time, from being so close, Genesis could hear Alice just barely whisper Bella's name.
Genesis's eyes widened and she hurriedly grabbed her phone. "Genesis? What's the matter?" Carlisle asked as he was immediately by his wife's startled form as she frantically called Bella. "She said Bella. Dammit, I knew something was going to happen!" She exclaimed as the phone rung. "Darling, you can't blame yourself." Carlisle reasoned. Genesis nodded and perked up when Bella answered. "Alice?" Bella's voice questioned. Genesis put the phone on speaker.
"Bella, is everything alright?" Genesis asked as calmly as she could. Carlisle put his hand on her shoulder to comfort her. Everyone in the room was now on their feet and huddled around the three, Alice still staring off in her vision. "I don't know. Do you think vampires can go into shock?" She asked. Genesis's eyes furrowed in confusion and she looked at Carlisle questioningly, however, he looked just as dumbfounded.

"What do you mean? Is Edward okay?" Genesis asked, the concern growing in her voice. "I don't- oh, oh my God..." Bella paused. "Bella? Bella what's wrong?!" Genesis pressed. Finally, Alice came out of her vision wide eyed. "Gen, I swear something just moved inside me..." Bella said in a scared tone. Genesis's eyes widened. "Carlisle- Carlisle, what the hell is she talking about?! That's- that cant be-!" Genesis dropped the phone and Carlisle immediately caught it. "Genesis?" Bella's voice rang out from the phone, but Genesis couldn't hear her of her labored breathing.
"Mom, mom, calm down!" Alice held the girl as she crumbled to the floor, her hands knotting in her hair as tears went down her face. She's pregnant. Bella's pregnant. How is that even possible? Is that even possible? Could it be a mix up? Did Bella cheat? No, no way. She loves Edward too much and Edward hasn't left her side. Then how? Could it kill her? Are vampire baby's harmful to humans? There are so many questions with too little answers for Genesis's liking.
Genesis felt a wave of calmness wash over her and she looked at Jasper with a thankful look. She looked up to see Carlisle in front of her, wiping her tears away. "Don't worry, love, I will make sure nothing happens to Bella." He promised. Genesis's eyes began to water as she held the man close. If there was anyone she could trust the life of her sister with, it was Carlisle. "Is it what I think it is? Is she pregnant?" Genesis asked softly.
"Yes."
"Gen, Rose," Bella's voice spoke from over the phone, "I'm going to need your help." She said. "With what?" Genesis asked, looking at Rosalie with a confused expression. "Edward. He doesn't see me having a child. He sees me having a monster. He wants to kill the baby." She explained softly, as if she were at risk of being heard. "And, you want to keep the baby." Genesis finished for her with a sigh. "Are you mad?" Bella asked.
"No, of course not. The child is innocent, plus, your its mother, it's your decision. But," Genesis trailed off as Rosalie sighed, already knowing how she felt. "But?" Bella asked. "I just don't want to lose you. What if giving birth kills you? It seems to be growing at a rapid rate because you can already feel it kicking and it's only been a week! I can't lose you, Bells!" Genesis felt a tear run down her cheek at the thought of losing Bella so suddenly. She never thought she'd have to worry about that, but if she were to be turned now, the baby definitely wouldn't survive.
"You won't lose me, Gen. Carlisle can change me at the last minute. But," Bella sighed, "If I'm wrong, and I don't make it, please, l beg of you, promise me you will live with Carlisle and take care of Edward and our baby." Bella pleaded. Genesis let out a small sob as Rosalie rubbed her back, "Gen, please..." Bella pleaded once more. Genesis let out a bitter laugh, the whole situation coming off as sickeningly humorous. She definitely did not expect this of all things to be the thing that kills Bella. Especially since, I'm this situation, she may not come back.
"Okay."

A Hunt Upon Wings of Shadows
Lianne has spent the last few years of her life as a nomadic monster-hunter, aimlessly taking jobs and disappearing without a trace. Her innately high ether reserves are the only thing that’s keeping her alive. After a painful yet successful contract, she receives an offer to hunt a peculiar beast from a mysterious man who- much to her dismay- pairs her with a man by the name of Sirius, a skilled swordsman with too much empathy to give out. At the same time, inside the impossibly tall walls of the divine city, a group of soldiers including a naive yet powerful girl by the name of Felicia, an exemplar soldier named Raynauld, and a scarred and aloof woman named Maria prepare to head out on a mission to deliver justice to a deserter who is reported to be in a large town far outside the lush interior of the city. However, the two groups will find that their paths will intertwine, and painful memories will push them against each other at every turn, with new monsters emerging from the shadows to pick each of them apart piece by piece. ************************** Alright, so this is the first book I've posted here, and I've been sitting on this idea for a long while. I'm open to any pieces of criticism, and I would be glad to receive tips and advice. Enjoy! Normally, new chapters come out Saturday nights, sometimes double uploads if there's a short chapter or if I feel like it. That's subject to change if I run out of the current backlog. Second note, this is the first draft, and some things (like a few characters) are going to be cut. It's still going to be the same storyline, but keep that in mind.
