《》Chapter 35: Family

Genesis and Bella moved swiftly around the battle area, spreading their scent by cutting their finger and putting their blood on the trees in the area. "You two have gone overboard." Edward commented. "Yeah, maybe so. But, we can't help you any other way." Genesis argues. "Staying alive and unharmed is enough for me." Carlisle chimes in as he joins them, two bandaids in hand.
Carlisle hands a bandaid to Edward before heading over to Genesis, who reluctantly lets him help. "It's just a small cut." She huffed. Even after all the time they've spent together, Carlisle still managed to make her embarrassed. Carlisle smirked, "I know. I just don't want your delicate hands getting an infection." He excused. Genesis shook her head and smiled. What was she gonna do with him?
Suddenly, Seth and Jacob ran up to them, signaling that it was time to go. Genesis looked up at Carlisle worriedly and he gave her a reassuring smile, "It will be over before you know it." He assured. Genesis nodded and gave him a tight smile, leaning up and giving him a kiss before turning to Seth and Jacob, who was already carrying her sister.
"Let's go."
Genesis stood at the edge of the mountain where their tent was set up, stretching as she looked out at the scenery in front of her. She had to get away from that tent. She hadn't slept at all because one: Her and Bella were freezing from the snow storm, and two: Edward and Jacob were having the most obscure conversation. It took everything in her not to straight up tell Jacob that the two were engaged and Carlisle and her were totally happy.
What's the deal with that boy? Can he not take a hint? She could have swore both her and Bella made it clear the day of the training that he was waisting his time. Why couldn't they just be friends? Hell, why couldn't he just like one of them? That's kind of sickening if you think about it for too long. Also, isn't he still just sixteen? Bella is eighteen and she's twenty! Bella is one thing, but Genesis?! She couldn't even if she wanted to! If he hasn't noticed, the two are really into older men.
"I've grown to love reading your thoughts." Edward said as he joined her on the edge. Edward looked around, then, on instinct, pulled her to a fallen log instead. Genesis rolled her eyes and chuckled, "You're protective of me to, huh?" She guessed. Edward cracked a smile, "You are our 'mom', right? Of course I care."
Genesis nodded her head, "Bella still asleep?" She asked. Edward nodded, "I couldn't stand being in there with Jacob's thoughts anymore. I'm just glad your out here to keep me company." He sighed. "Also, you know it's healthy to get sleep, right?" He questioned. "I can't help it. Jacob was spouting bull and you were letting him. You're getting his hopes up. He's not gonna stop until you shoot down that ego of his. I don't know where he got it, but I'm over it already." She huffed.
Edward laughed. "Now you're really starting to sound like a mom." Genesis rolled her eyes, "He makes me feel like one! He's a hormonal teenager after two taken adults! He's literally acting like a child." She argued. Edward nodded in agreement. Genesis sighed and put her head in her hands. Edward put a hand on her back, knowing how she was feeling off her thoughts.

"Has it gone down yet?" She asked, not looking up. Edward sighed, "Not yet. I'm keeping an eye on their thoughts. No one has shown up yet." Genesis nodded, not looking up as Edward stood from his seat and headed back to the tent, most likely hearing Bella wake up. Genesis sat for a while, thinking of anything and everything. She couldn't bare it. The thought of the wolves and Cullen's fighting for her and her sister sickened her. She's made their lives so much more difficult and she hates it.
Genesis stood up suddenly, looking around frantically before running into the woods. She was going back to them. She was going to sacrifice herself and get the newborns huddled together around her corpse to suck it dry and catch them off guard, giving the others the perfect chance to attack. She knows what she's doing is reckless, but she was tired of it, so,
She ran.
Carlisle, Chandler, and Esme stopped as they approached two newborns cowering in fear. One boy and one girl. They both seemed to be around their teenage years and they looked similar, obviously making them twins. The three hesitated on killing them. Carlisle gave a look to the other two, receiving a nod of approval. The three were basically the heads of the coven, though Carlisle always had the finale say, he always included the two when it came to certain matters. He's always came to them first.
Except for when he pursued Genesis.
"If you two surrender, we will allow you to join our coven. A new life." Carlisle offered. The two looked at each other before nodding their heads in approval. Behind them, the battle was ending, a wolf taking the last one down. Carlisle led the newborn twins to the group, sending a nod to his family, signaling that they were of no threat to them. The vampires and wolves stood silent, listening for more. Suddenly, a rustling sound caught their attentions.
A wolf, Leah, went after it, jumping into the woods to hunt bite whatever it was. Genesis flew back with a scream, just barely missing Leah's teeth. Leah whimpered in remorse, crouching down as if to apologize. "It's okay, Leah. I shouldn't have startled you." Genesis pet her fur and the two revealed themselves as they came out into the clearing. Carlisle sped over quickly, examining the girl before pulling her into a tight hug.
"What are you doing out here alone?! Where's Edward and Bella?!" He questioned. Genesis pulled away and held his face in her hands, "Carlisle, calm down, they're safe. They're back at the camp." She assured. Carlisle furrowed his eyebrows and gripped her shoulders, "You left them? By yourself? Genesis, what were you thinking?! You could have been killed!" He pressed. Genesis looked over to the others, eyes resting curiously on the two newborns staring at her with a pained expression.
Without a word, Genesis stepped out of Carlisle's grip, walking towards the two. Carlisle's eyes widened, but he stayed silent, trusting that what Genesis was doing was for a purpose. As the got closer, the two stepped back, the fear of hurting her striking them as her scent hit their noses. "You won't hurt me, I promise." Genesis assured, not stopping in her tracks. The two were then overcome with a calmness as they no longer craved her blood. How?
She finally stopped in front of them, smiling at the two. The girl was as tall as her, the boy, however, towered over her a bit. "I'm Genesis Swan." She introduced. The two looked at each other before smiling back at her, "I'm Bree Tanner." The girl replied, "I'm Bradley Tanner." The boy followed up. Genesis gave them a welcoming smile, "It's nice to meet you two. I assume this wasn't your choice, I'm sorry for the trouble my sister and I have caused. We have effected so many, and now you two have lost your lives." Genesis looked down bitterly.

All these people are dead because she wanted happiness. She was starting to wonder if she even deserved it at this point. "Why did Riley want you dead?" Bradley asked. The Cullen's all gathered around at this point, now on high alert just in case the two teens decided they wanted revenge. Genesis couldn't blame them, though. She was the reason they died in the first place.
"Riley didn't want us dead. Hell, he doesn't even know who we are. Victoria was the one who started this." Genesis explained. The two knew who Victoria was, they just didn't know her relation to the cause except for being with Riley. "Why did she want you dead?" Bree spoke up. Genesis sighed, "Her mate, a man named James, tried to kill my sister and I. He wanted to feed off us and found that hunting us down was just the rush he needed." She started.
"My family," Genesis gestured to the Cullen's around them, "Killed him before he killed us. Victoria wanted revenge for his death. She's been plotting it for about a year now. I guess an army was the only way she saw fit to kill us." She finished. The two nodded, listening closely. They were angry. Not at Genesis nor the Cullen's, no. But, the fact that their lives were taken away from them because a man tried to kill to innocent girls and his girlfriend was angry that he got what he deserved.
But, they were also happy. They're being given a second chance at whatever this life is. They could learn, and they also had each other, and, one day, even have the Cullen's by their side. A new family. "It isn't your fault." Bree assured, Bradley nodding in agreement. "We actually are very grateful for this new chance. You didn't kill us, and now we have another chance at a better family." Bree smiled.
"Bree and I were all each other had. Our parents were druggies, they didn't even care that we were out late at night the day we were turned. When we went missing, they didn't even look for us. I doubt they even noticed we were gone." Bradley shook his head. Genesis grabbed their hands, "You two will always have a family with us. I promise you that you'll have the best life with us." She assured. Carlisle smiled from next to her and shook his head in agreement, the others following suit.
Suddenly, Edward and Bella came out from the woods, heading towards them. Genesis smiled widely at the two and ran towards them, hugging Bella tightly as Bella let out a sob. "I thought you were dead!" Bella cried as she held onto Genesis. "I'm so sorry, Bells. I should have told you I was leaving, I am so, so sorry." Bella finally let go and Genesis was then pulled into another hug by Edward, "Don't you dare ever scare us like that again." He sighed in relief.
The two let go of each other and Edward and Bella headed towards the group with Genesis behind them. Then, out from behind Genesis, a newborn jumped out and flew on top of her. Genesis screamed as she hit the ground. It was very short lived, though, since the weight of it was immediately taken off her and she was in Bree's arms in a second flat. Bradley was on top of the newborn, killing it quickly with one tug of its head.
Carlisle appeared beside them instantly, checking Genesis for any harm before sighing in relief as he realized she was okay. "Thank you." He said as Bradley and Bree stood with them. "Yeah, seriously, Thank you so much." Genesis said shakily as she hugged the two. The Cullen's had no time to celebrate at Alice spoke up, "The Volturi! Their coming!" She warned.
The wolves looked at them, all nodding before running back to their territory. The Cullen's all stood next to each other in front of the two newborns as they awaited the Volturi's presence. Genesis looked to Edward, both thinking the same thing. If the Volturi sees the two newborns, they're going to kill them. Genesis thought fast, though. The crest of the coven. Edward's eyes widened, thinking over the idea quickly before taking his crest off his finger and handing it to Genesis.
Genesis nodded and quickly made her way to Rosalie. "Rose, I need your crest. If the Volturi see the Bree and Bradley without the crest they'll know they're not one of us, they'll kill them instantly." She explained. The two newborns froze in fear. Rosalie quickly nodded and pulled her necklace out from her pocket, handing it over. Genesis smiled a quick 'thank you' before putting the necklace on Bree and ring on Bradley. "You two will be okay, I promise." She assured as she made her way back to Carlisle, holding his hand tightly for comfort.
A moment later, the Volturi appeared, Genesis immediately noticing the man who held her at her throat just a few months prior. "It seems we missed an interesting fight." Jane spoke. "Impressive. It's not everyday we're rendered unnecessary." She scanned them all as she spoke. "We were lucky." Carlisle dismissed. "I doubt that." She quipped. "If you were to have shown up earlier you would have served your purpose. Victoria, perhaps you've heard of her?" Edward accused.
"Edward, if the Volturi knew of Victoria, they wouldn't have let this happen. Right, Jane?" Carlisle commented. "Course." Jane assured falsely. Jane's eyes landed on the two newborns in the back of the coven. "You two." She pointed to them, "Who are you?" She questioned. The coven parted, revealing the two teenagers. The two looked to Genesis, her giving them a stern nod.
They held their head high, coming off as more confident than they felt. "My name is Bradley. This is my sister, Brionna. We have just recently joined the coven." Bradley spoke as if he were from a different time, his town coming off more in an English accent as if he had been around for a while. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Bree spoke in the same accent, bowing her head a bit in acknowledgment.
Bradley had his hands folded in front of him, ring on full display as Bree's necklace glinted in the light. Jane analyzed them a bit longer before nodding her head in approval. "My name is Jane. We are the Volturi. I assume you have heard of us from our old friend Carlisle, yes?" Bradley nodded, "Indeed. Send our greetings to the kings, yes?" He charmed. Jane's lips twitched, "Of course." She agreed. "Carlisle, I expect a report of the new members to reach Aro?" She raised an eyebrow.
Carlisle nodded, "Of course." She nodded and looked to Genesis and Bella. "Ciaus will be quite interested to know that they are still human." She quipped. "The dates are set." Bella defended. Jane nodded. "Let's go. I'd like to go home." Jane said. They turned to walk away and Jane turned her head, "Until we meet again." She dismissed before they all disappeared back into the woods.
Genesis let out a sign of relief and the two teenagers hugged her tightly as they laughed in disbelief. "We did it! We're alive!" Bree cried. "Well, kind of." Bradley joked, making them all laugh. "Thank you guys so much." Bree said. The Cullen's all assured them that it was their pleasure. They were happy to have them apart of the family. Not only did they surrender, but they also saved Genesis, which was the biggest thing could have ever done to win their trust.
"Bradley, how did you know about the Volturi?" Chandler spoke up. It was odd that Bradley was able to give out information that no one told him. He was just turned not too long ago, and theirs no doubt that none of the others knew of the Volturi or Riley would have tried to lay low more. "Because he saw them." Edward commented. "Saw them? Like how Alice sees the future?" Emmett questioned.
"Sort of. I was looking into his mind when he saw a vision of Jane's past went across his mind. He's gifted." He explained. "Gifted? Like, as in I have powers?! I was wondering how I saw all of that!" Bradley jumped around excitedly. Bree laughed at her brother's childish antics. "How old are you guys, by the way? You sounded like you were born hundreds of years ago!" Bella said. "We're both eighteen. We stopped aging three days ago." Bree said. "We're just good at acting." She laughed.
"We're glad to have you two apart of the family." Carlisle smiled. "Let's show you your new home."
Genesis sat on Carlisle's bed as he paced around the room. Edward had dug into her mind and told Carlisle why she left and he brought her to his room and hasn't spoken since. "Carlisle I'm sorry." Genesis tried to apologize, but that only made him snap. "Genesis, I don't think you understand just how much you mean to me! Hell, how much you mean to all of us! What do you think I would have done if they were to have killed you?! You know how I get! I would have torched the whole damn forest down and kill anyone in my way!" He gritted out.
Genesis had never seen Carlisle so angry before. He was seething. She was actually starting to get scared herself. "Carlisle I hate causing everyone so much pain! I thought it would be better if I just..." Genesis stopped herself, not sure how he would react if she were to tell him. "If you just what?" Carlisle stared at her intensely. Genesis stood up and walked toward him a bit, "Carlisle please calm down.." she tried to soothe the situation, but he wasn't having it.
The kids had already left, already knowing what was going down and not wanting any part of it. They knew Genesis needed to know, no matter what way he portrayed it to her. "Genesis. If you just what?" He demanded lowly. Genesis knew she wasn't getting out of this, so she just prepared herself for his reaction. "If I just disappeared." She whispered. That was it. That's what sent him over the edge.
Carlisle pinned Genesis to the wall fast, yet, somehow, very gentle. Genesis gasped as her back hit the wall. She looked up at Carlisle and her eyes widened. His eyes were no longer the golden color she had fallen in love with, but a deep black. "Carlisle?" She stuttered. Carlisle didn't know what he was doing. There was part of him that wanted to show her how much he loves her, but, he was a Godly man. Even after what happened to him, he never lost faith. He knew what he wanted now.
"Genesis," He whispered, "I love you with everything in me. Everyday with you feels like a blessing, and I would die over and over again just to have a moment with you. You've changed me. You've made me feel things that I never thought I could feel before. Jealousy, protective, romantic love. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me, so don't you dare ever think that you should ever leave me." Carlisle sped away and sped back in front of her, this time, on one knee. "Genesis," he breathed.
He showed a ring in between his fingers, the diamonds shining in the light. Genesis gasped as tears fell down her face. This was it. This was the start of her happy ending. He wanted her. He loved her. He thought of no one else but her. And she loved him. "Will you make my biggest dream come true, and marry me?" He asked. Genesis looked into his beautiful, golden eyes, seeing no regret, no ill will. Only love.
"Yes."
