《》Chapter 26: A Human's Strength

Jacob sat upon La Push beach, trying desperately to save the girls he pulled out from the water. He started with Bella, knowing that Genesis would kick his ass for not saving her first. "Come on, Bella." Jacob pleaded as he pushed on her chest once again. Bella finally started coughing up water. "Jake?" She asked. "Oh thank God." He sighed in relief.
Bella looked beside her and immediately sat up. "Oh my God, Genesis!" She yelled. Jacob started doing CPR on her and Bella started crying. "Please, Gen, I need you!" She cried. Genesis finally started coughing and Bella cried harder. Even while dying, Genesis still came back for her. "Bella. What the hell?" Genesis asked. "Gen, I am so, so sorry!" Bella cried and hugged her sister.
Genesis sighed and hugged her tight. "Don't beat yourself up, Bells. It's okay. I'm okay." She soothed. She looked up at Jacob, "Thank you." She smiled. Jacob gave her a weak smile back. Her expression turned concerned. "What?" She asked. "Harry Clearwater had a heart attack. He's gone." He sighed. Genesis felt a tear fall. She couldn't imagine what Seth and Leah were going through.
"We should get home."
Genesis saw Bella and Jacob out of her rear view mirror. They were having a moment. Genesis sighed. She was happy that Bella was finally getting someone. Genesis had thought things over multiple times. She thought that, if Bella were to find someone else, she would be able to go peacefully. She had had enough. Between the incident, being there for others, and losing the man she loved, she was tired of it.
She didn't think she could live anymore. She was never one to think that she needed a man to be happy, but this was different from just any kind of relationship. This was being connected with someone. And she knew Bella felt the same way, but Jacob seemed like he could distract her long enough to give her happiness. She then realized that Jacob would one day imprint on someone else and she sighed hopelessly. She was screwed.
Genesis hadn't noticed that Bella was running into the house with Jacob yelling at her. Genesis rose an eyebrow. What the hell did she miss? Did she dodge his kiss and friend zone him, like what the hell? Genesis jumped out of the car as Bella ran inside. "Jake?" She questioned as he slammed Bella's car door. "There's a vampire and she won't listen to me." He seethed. Genesis's eyes widened and she went towards the door.
Jacob grabbed her hand. "No, Genesis. I can't lose you too." He said. He pulled her towards him and put his hand on her cheek. Genesis's eyebrows flew up. She's now realized that Jacob didn't just like her sister. He liked them both. Normally, someone would slap his ass for being such a pig, but Genesis was too nice and innocent to hurt him, so she played along to catch him off guard.
"Jakey," she whispered as she leaned into him. His grip loosened on her in shock. He closed his eyes, getting ready for a kiss. At the last second, Genesis pushed him away. "I'm sorry!" She called as she ran into the house. "Bella!" She called out, worried for her sister's safety. Suddenly, Alice was in front of her with a wide smile. "Genesis!" She squealed and wrapped her arms around her.

"Alice?" Genesis stuttered as she put her arms around the small girl. The two held each other close, almost looking like a daughter hugging her mother for the first time after not seeing her for a while. Genesis sighed in relief, happy that Alice was there and Bella was safe. Genesis was about to ask about Carlisle before Alice pulled away, her nose scrunched up in disgust.
"What is that awful wet dog smell?" She asked. "That Must be us." Bella piped up. "Or Jacob." Genesis sighed. "Jacob?" Alice questioned. "Yeah. Jacob's kind of a werewolf." Bella explained awkwardly. "Guys, werewolves are not good company to keep." Alice scolded. Genesis was about to disagree, seeing as that the wolves were the ones that helped them since they left, but Jacob walked in. "Speak for yourself." He said.
Alice stood behind Genesis, feeling threatened. "I thought you couldn't protect us here." Bella said. Jacob made eye contact with Genesis. "I guess I don't care." He said. The boy wasn't going to let what happened between either of the sisters go anytime soon. He almost kissed them both on the same night, how could he let that go? "Well, I'm not gonna hurt them." She said.
"No, you're just a harmless Cullen." He said sarcastically. "Jacob," Genesis warned. She wasn't about to let him talk to Alice that way. She had done nothing wrong. "I didn't see you guys get pulled out of the water." Alice said, changing the subject as she walked over between Genesis and Bella. "I can't see past you and your pack of mutts." She shot at Jacob. Jacob stepped up and Genesis got in between them.
"Guys, please." She demanded. She didn't have enough energy for this. Alice sighed and grabbed Genesis's hand, pulling her into another room. "You'll come back, right?" Bella asked. She turned back and nodded, "As soon as you put the dog out." She said. The two entered another room and Genesis sighed. "I'm so glad you're okay." She told Alice. Alice looked at her shocked. "Me? I'm glad that you're okay! I thought you were dead!" Alice sounded as if she was crying, yet no tears would spill.
Genesis grabbed her face in her hands. "Hey, it's okay. I'm here. Bella's here. You don't have to worry." She soothed her. Genesis was really starting to feel older than she actually was. She was turning twenty on graduation day and she felt like she was already old enough to have had all these kids herself. She felt like a mom. Alice smiled at her and hugged her. Alice was only a bit shorter than her, but in Genesis's shoes, Genesis towered over her enough to put her chin on her head and stroked the girls hair.
Alice suddenly sucked in a breath and stood still. Genesis held the girl tighter, knowing that she must be getting a vision. She continued stroking her hair, awaiting Alice's return back to reality. Alice let out a huff and pulled away from Genesis. "Get in the car!" She said. Genesis looked at her confused. "It's Edward. He thinks Bella and you are dead. He's going to kill himself!" She said as she ran to go get Bella.

Genesis rushed out the door and to what she recognized as Carlisle's car. She got in the back seat and sighed in desperation. These two seem to have the same ideas. They reminded her of Romeo and Juliet except this was even weirder. She saw Bella run out and Alice speed into the car. Bella slipped in beside her and grabbed her hand tight. Genesis squeezed back, showing her sister that she's not going anywhere.
Jacob went up to their window. "Bella, Please, don't go." He said. "I have to." She responded. He made eye contact with Genesis. "Gen," he pleaded. "I'm going with her, Jake." She said. "Please. Stay with me." He begged her. "Goodbye, Jake." She broke out of his gaze, looking down to avoid his eyes. Jacob finally let go and Alice waisted no time in driving off.
"So he likes both of you?" Alice asked. Bella sighed, "It looks like it." She said. "He tried to kiss me in the truck." She said. "He tried to kiss me when I went after you." Genesis confessed. Alice scoffed. Genesis grabbed Bella and pulled her into a hug to try and comfort her.
"We'll get him."
Alice got stopped by some guards and Bella jumped out of the car. "Bella, go! If me or Genesis goes then he's going to hear us coming, he'll think we're lying and jump right into it!" She explained. "Where do I go?" Bella asked. "The clock tower, hurry!" Alice called to her. Bella ran off and Alice jumped out of the car followed by Genesis.
The two took their time walking through the red coated people. They didn't want to get there before Bella. Alice brought them to a door under the clock tower, and paused for a moment. She sighed, "There are guards on the other side with them." She said. Genesis pulled Alice back and walked in front of Alice and through the door.
Walking in, the four turned to her. Edward sighed in relief when he saw her. "Come on guys, it's a festival. Wouldn't want to cause a scene, would you?" Genesis said. She stood her ground even though she knew that they two guards would be able to kill her in a second. The guards stood shocked. Genesis had a point. She walked in further and pushed Bella and Edward behind her with Alice. She had come too far for these low life vampires to take her family away again.
Suddenly, blonde vampire entered the room and stopped once Genesis made eye contact with her. "Aro sent me to see what was taking so long." She said. "Jane," Edward whispered. Genesis took this as a sign that she was no joke. Genesis looked back at the three and then back at Jane. Genesis walked forward and Jane brought them to an elevator and into a room with three men in chairs.
"Jane, I ask for one and you bring me two. And two half's." The man in the middle said. He clapped, "So Bella is alive after all." He said. He sped over to Edward and took his hand. "Interesting." He said. He held his hand out to Genesis next, intrigued by her courage to stand so tall amongst them. She gave him her hand, not exactly knowing what he was doing.
He pulled her close and a grin made its way to his face. "So, you're my old friend Carlisle's mate. You're very protective and strong. You even took a werewolf's claw to the back." Aro said, astonished by her strength. Genesis's eyes widened as she sucked in a breath, backing away from him. She looked back to the other three. They looked shocked, Edward looked livid.
"Oh. Perhaps that was a secret." He smiled slyly. He went up to Bella, wondering if she was also immune to his gift. "Interesting. I see nothing." He said. "Maybe she is immune to all our gifts. Jane?" Edward tensed. "No!" He yelled before a guard attacked him. Genesis was going to step in, but she couldn't see where they were going.
"Stop!" Genesis and Bella yelled. The two stopped and Genesis looked to Bella. "You'll be okay, Bells. I promise." She said as she grabbed her hand. Jane stared intensely at Bella, but nothing happened. Aro laughed and clapped, bringing Jane out of her trance. "She confines us all! If only it were your intention to give her immortality." He said.
He looked to Genesis, "You would be one powerful vampire." He hummed. "But, it doesn't look like Carlisle wants to turn you either." He sighed. "Kill them." He said. Instantly, Genesis grabbed Bella and pinned her to the wall, her back facing her. Aro looked at her, amazed by her bravery as Edward fought off the guards. Edward got held in a position where he looked as if he was about to get his head torn off.
"No!" Genesis yelled as Bella screamed for the to stop. Genesis ran up to them and attempted to pull the guard off of Edward. "Please, please! Just let him go!" She yelled at the man. "Kill me! Kill me, not him!" Bella yelled. The man let go of Edward and grabbed Genesis by the neck, lifting her in the air. "No! Please!" Alice yelled.
"They will be one of us! I've seen it! I'll change them myself." She reasoned. Aro sped over to her and took her hands in his. "To see what you've seen before it has happened, fascinating." He said. "Go. Prepare yourselves!" Aro dismissed. The guard dropped Genesis and Edward caught her before she hit the floor. She coughed and looked up at him.
"Hey, Eddy."

To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
