《》Chapter 24: Plunge

Genesis held Bella's hand as they sat in Bella's truck heading to Emily's. "You knew, didn't you?" She asked. Genesis nodded, "It wasn't my secret to tell." She said. Bella nodded, understanding her reasoning. She couldn't exactly be mad at her for it. They were both still keeping the Cullen's secret, now they both had two secrets. But, unbeknownst to Bella, Genesis had one more. Her scars.
They pulled up to Emily's house and Bella got out after the boys started teasing her for being scared. The boys told her not to stare at Emily. Genesis sighed, knowing Bella was still going to like the curious girl she was. Bella walked in first, Genesis staying behind waiting for the boys. Genesis could hear their conversation and she couldn't help but cringe at Bella's awkwardness.
Genesis saw the boys running up and she smiled seeing none of them injured. She walked in Emily's house to see Emily scolding the boys for not letting Bella get a muffin first. "You tell them, Em." Genesis smirked. Emily looked up with a bright smile and ran over to Genesis, giving her a big hug. Bella looked at the two in shock. She knew that Genesis found out, she didn't know that she was friends with all of them.
"How have you been, Gen?" Emily asked. "Could be better, could be worse." Genesis replied honestly. Emily sighed in understanding, giving Bella a sympathetic look. Bella smiled a bit, glad she wasn't being judged. The boys came through the door, Jacob and Paul laughing with each other. Paul sat down with the other boys and looked to the two. "Sorry." He apologized. Genesis gave him a smirk, knowing that he isn't exactly one for apologizing.
The two girls looked back at Jacob and he motioned them to follow him. Genesis waved to her wolf friends. "You better visit more often now!" Emily called. "You bet!" Genesis called back. The three of them walked to the beach. "Now do you understand the 'descending from wolves' thing?" Genesis asked Bella. Bella huffed, "I should have known." She said. "I know. I blame it on your mental health, though." Genesis said. Bella rolled her eyes.

"So, you're a werewolf." Bella said, making conversation with Jacob. "Yeah. Last time I checked." He said. "Well, can't you just, stop?" She said. Genesis gave her a 'what the hell?' look. Jacob stopped. "This isn't a life choice, Bella. I was born this way. I can't help it." He defended himself. "You've killed people, Jake." Bella said. "No. He kills the things that kill people." Genesis interjected.
Bella looked at her questioningly. "Vampires." Jacob pointed out the obvious. "Like the one in the woods." He said. "You killed him?" Bella asked shocked. "Wasn't exactly hard." He said. "And that red head is next." He said. Genesis's eyes widened. "Victoria?" Genesis asked. "You know her?" He asked. "Yeah. And we know why she's here." Genesis started pacing with anxiety. "Woah, why is she here?" He asked. Bella looked to him with wide eyes.
"To kill us."
"I've checked around the house, she hasn't been here." Jacob informed the two. "You don't have to do this, Jake. She's like, really fast. You don't know how fast she is." Bella said. "You know your lack of faith in us is a little insulting." He told her. Genesis snorted. "We can't exactly not be worried about you. We don't wanna lose you." Genesis said. Genesis and Bella saw that comment as a 'You're my best friend and I don't wanna lose you' while Jacob took it as 'I love you and I can't lose you'.
Jacob has the thought process that he was going to have to choose between the two girls one day. He thinks that they both have feelings for him and he is loving every second of the attention. He was like a puppy that was receiving belly rubs from two different, wonderful owners. He wished that he could have them both. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't fantasized about it. He's thought about being with Bella and Genesis separately, and being with them both at the same time. He knew it was disgusting, but he couldn't help it. He was a hormonal teenager around two beautiful girls.

How shameless.
Bella and Genesis sat in their normal spots. Bella hadn't had any nightmares since Jacob came back, but it didn't mean Genesis was able to sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw him. She still craved his touch and wanted to wake up from this nightmare to his smile. A tear went down her face and a bitter sigh escaped her lips. Genesis was miserable.
Bella stood from her chair. Genesis stood as well, thinking that they were going somewhere again. Bella looked at her, "I'll be back later. I wanna go alone this time." Bella said. Genesis nodded, but she knew she was going to follow her anyway. Bella left and Genesis watched as she pulled out in her truck. Once she was out of view, Genesis ran to her car, quickly following after Bella.
Genesis guessed that Bella didn't remember that she had her own car, because Bella never stopped. Genesis wondered what Bella was doing as they drove past the cliff the boys usually dived off of. Then it hit Genesis. Bella was trying to see Edward by throwing herself in danger. Genesis calmed her nerves, trying not to blow her cover.
Bella pulled over to the side of the road and hurried out of her truck and up the mountain. Genesis went a little ways further and stopped. She jumped out and ran after Bella, terrified when she couldn't see her. She thought about calling for her, but decided against it, knowing that Bella would just run into it. How did this happen? How hadn't Edward come back for Bella yet? Did he really not care? Did Carlisle care?
Genesis shook her head of her negative thoughts. Of course they did. They left because they thought that they were protecting them. They didn't know that Bella was going to this, or that Laurent and Victoria would come back for them. Genesis stopped when she saw Bella on the edge of the cliff, talking to nothing. She assumed that she was was probably talking to imaginary Edward. "Bella!" Genesis called to her.
Bella turned around, shocked to hear Genesis's voice. But, being the clumsy girl she is, she slipped and fell backwards. "No!" Genesis ran up to her and grabbed her hand, getting pulled down with her. Genesis briefly heard Carlisle's voice, but she was too preoccupied to understand what he said. Genesis held Bella to her chest, flipping onto her back so she would hit the water first.
Genesis cringed as they fell in. The water was cold and the salt burned her back. Genesis pushed Bella up in an attempt to get her to the surface. Bella shot up out of the water, hardly swimming under the intense waves. "Genesis!" She screamed. She was terrified for her sister. She immediately regretted ever jumping in the water. She should have known that Genesis would have went after her. The waves crashed over her and she was back under the surface.
She opened her eyes and saw Genesis floating motionless in the depths. She then saw red hair and immediately knew it was Victoria. Bella swam backwards to get away, but only managed to hit her head on the mountain, knocking herself out cold. So there the Swan sisters were. Floating in the depths of the ocean with no sign of life in them.
They were finally at peace.

Before your friend leaves, there is murder and conspiracy! Magic left the land hundreds of years ago, all you have is your bow and hunting skills, nevertheless you must fight to survive and save another to have any hope of a future! Note: The graphic isn't mine; it is a re-imagining of a few separate images, any objections by original artists let me know. N.B. If you are looking for Sexual Content every chapter, or every second, third or fourth chapter this isn't the story for you - the Sexual Content is required for a plot device, not a way of life and the later chapters reflect that - please stop dropping Low Ratings when you feel I haven't met your idea of "fan service". This is finished as much as a multi book vision can be finished. At 750,000 words give or take and very little readership I can only blame myself. I have learnt a lot, possibly forgotten a lot as well! I will probably return to the Chapters at some point - a touch up here and a touch up there. The second book though will probably remain in my head for a very long time, so yes "cliffs" although I hope the characters and their motivations are developed enough that you can have a good guess at the content of Book Two and tell me so I can confirm or deny! This isn't a LITRPG where classes are developed, great foes are defeated by a hero of immense power. This is a story based within (I hope) a very real and consistent culture, that leaves breadcrumbs for the reader to work out what the heck is happening and why. This is a slow burn story as the MC is stumbling around discovering her new place and role. Author's Note (Apr 2021): I dropped the Fantasy Genre for the Mystery Genre, because while the setting mentions magic, is it about past glories and trying to return to them. Whereas the MC from Chapter One doesn't understand her predicament and the range of mysteries she must solve to survive. If I have this wrong PM me and I will change this back.
