A couple days had passed, and finally the exams were finished. Ashton was more then joyous as he woke up and made his down the stairs.

Ever since his argument with his parents, they'd been up and making breakfast almost every weekend now so they could all sit and eat the meal together.

At first Ashton fully ignored them but he gradually eased up a little, now only talking to them a little because he knew it was up to him now. They wanted the relationship, he just had to accept itand if he didn't it would be a missed opportunity

But he wasn't going to jump right into it, so he went slowly.

"Morning son," his dad said as Ashton made his way over to the get himself a cup of coffee.

Ashton nodded in acknowledgement, stirring in a teaspoon of sugar before taking the warm cup into his hands.

He sighed out in content and went over to prop himself on a stool.

"How'd your exams going hon?" mum asked, mixing the pancakes batter in a bowl.

Ashton brought the coffee to his lips and let the heat burn his throat, "Good, " he said.

He noticed his parents looked like they were both itching to say something, but daring not to.

"Well, what is it?" Ashton asked, getting straight to the point.

His mum widened her blue eyes and tucked her hair away from her face, sparing her husband a nervous glance.

"We wanted to talk you about your um...coming out a couple weeks ago," His dad finally said.

Ashton's lips parted in surprise. They hadn't mentioned it to him since and he figured they didn't really care but now he was thinking otherwise.

"We don't want you to think we don't accept you Ashton. We do. We just didn't expect you to be gay because well, you've kind of always surrounded yourself with girls. It's just a little unexpected and confusing is all," his mum continued, her voice and words careful as she took a step forward.

Ashton rolled his eyes, "Or I could just be bisexual. That's a thing you know that right?"

His parents fell silent and Ashton chuckled softly to himself, taking another sip from his coffee and inhaling the comforting smell.

"I guess that makes sense," his dad concluded, moving to get some eggs from the fridge, "So uh who's this boy you were talking about?"

Ashton's eyes widened and he watched his mum smile giddily, probably wanting to know too.

"Um his name's Luca, he's my boyfriend actually," he said, a small smile creeping up on his face.

His mum began flipping pancakes, "He sounds cute. When will we get to meet him?"

Ashton thought about her question for a moment, not commenting on the small fact that they already had, "Not sure. I don't think now's a good time though."

It wasn't really. Luca wouldn't take a step further in the relationship until things were sorted out with his sister and Ashton was a little pre-occupied in figuring out how to come out to everyone else.

Because despite his earlier thoughts against the idea, he was beginning to rethink it. Senior year was coming to an end soon so really, what did he have to lose besides a few homophobic friends that didn't even mean much to him?
