Today was the day of Ashton's grand final game. And this time during their pre warm-ups, Ashton was actually focused because although not everything was exactly fine at the moment, he had held onto the fact that Luca would be there in the bleachers. Watching and supporting him.

It made his heart swarm with warmth and comfort.

Like two girls gossiping, Ashton was filling Benji in on all that had been happening with Luca and Betsy lately as they conducted their training activities together.

"Gotta tell you, I feel horrible for Betsy. Poor thing needs some cookies, maybe I'll bring her some after the game yeah?" Benji said, turning onto his stomach.

Ashton followed his action and the two did a couple push ups on the damp grass. It was the early hours of the morning and the game didn't start until midday but coach had ordered for extra morning training.

Ashton sighed, "I feel horrible too. I basically ditched her for her brother. Like what a fucking jerk I am."

Benji huffed loudly through his third push-up and gave up, plummeting to the ground and laying there in his own sweat.

Ashton continued his push-ups, diving into his sixth one and hardly feeling the struggle Benji did.

"Yeah I agree but I don't think you should blame yourself too much. You were confused, your feelings and sexuality was all new and confronting. Sadly Betsy was just in the middle of it all and suffered the consequences," Benji breathed out.

Ashton stopped mid push-up and fell into the grass beside Benji.

"How can I not blame myself? I should be named asshole of the year," Ashton said with a scoff.

Benji rolled his eyes, "At least you didn't date her."

"But we kissed."

"You didn't kiss back though. You didn't lead her on, you did a good thing in that part," Benji responded, picking himself up.

Both the boys stood up and walked over to the side to get a drink of water.

"I guess so. I just really hope she gets all the happiness in the world you know? Because she really fucking deserves it after everything that happened," Ashton told him before taking a swig of his water.

After Ashton gulped down the water, he felt a hand pat his back and he turned to meet eyes with coach Martin.

"Good work out there buddy. Much better compared to last night. Now go hit the showers, get a good healthy breakfast and I'll see you back here soon," he exclaimed, and Ashton sent him a grin and a 'thank you' before turning back to Benji.

"Let the games begin," he said excitedly, rubbing his hands together.

Benji snickered, "They started for you ages ago mate," he commented before moving past Ashton and heading off to the change rooms.

Ashton laughed in agreement but he wasn't so sure if they'd end anytime soon.
