Ashton sported a large grin when he noticed Luca walking over to him at school the next day.

But the smile dropped when Luca greeted him with,

"We can't do this."

The blond was baffled, a little taken aback and he frowned rather deeply as he eyed the slightly smaller boy in front of him.

"I'm sorry, i'm a little confused..." he mumbled, his tone sombre.

"We just can't okay. I can't hurt Betsy like this," Luca shortly explained, running a hand over his face.

"Oh," Ashton murmured, looking down towards the ground and biting on his lip, "Okay."

Luca could tell Ashton was most certainly not okay with it.

"I'm sorry Ashton," Luca sighed, tugging on his curls.

Ashton nodded his head, before lifting his gaze back up and forcing a smile. He looked at Luca, but he avoided meet his eyes.

"Don't worry," he said, turning and walking off.

Luca watched him leave, feeling as if he'd really fucked up. But could he blame himself, his sister didn't need anymore of his selfishness. She didn't need to hear that he practically snatched her 'boyfriend' away from him.

"Whoa what went on there?"

Luca glanced up at the voice, his sad eyes meeting Benji's curious ones.

"Oh, uh... nothing," Luca replied.

Benji shook his head with smile, "I smell sadnness. Tell me what's going on or I'll choke it out of you."

Luca raised an eyebrow. His head pounded in pain but his heart might of just been hurting more.

"Last night uh... Ashton and I, we may have like kissed a little and talked.." Luca trailed off, his voice breaking in the midst.

"Okay I'd one hundred percent be squealing right now but something went wrong didn't it?" Benji asked, folding his arms.

"Betsy and I had a bit of an argument last night and well, it made me realise things. I realised how selfish it was for me to be having a thing with the boy she liked and probably still likes," Luca explained.

Benji frowned, "Yeah you're right."

"You really think so?"

"Yeah. You might be selfish, but are you really going to let that stop you from being with the guy you like who happens to like you back?"

Luca shrugged, "If it hurts Betsy then yeah."

"No, forget Betsy. She's your sister she'll have to understand at one point," Benji said, pulling Luca beside him.

"Benji you can't say that. I honestly can't hurt her, she's been there for me so much and I've just gone behind her back. It's so wrong."

The two started walking across the grass and headed over to Luca's first class before the bell rang.

Benji kept silent for the most part, agreeing with what Luca was saying but not wanting to speak up about it.

"Ashton and I lasted a short moment and it was magic but it's inevitable everything good comes to an end. I feel like this whole year has been like that; good then bad. I just have to move past it."

"And what Luca? You go back to indulging yourself in books and forgetting there's a whole life out there waiting for you to live it? Ashton sparked that in you. He pulled you out of your comfort zone and showed you a fraction of the world your missing out on. Yet, just like that you're letting it go. I get that you don't want to hurt Betsy but give her a reason to understand why you and Ashton are right for each other."

Luca gulped at hearing Benji's words because every word he said made sense.

Every single word.

The bell rang and Luca broke out of his thoughts, his eyes wondering over the door to his classroom and back to Benji.

"Go," Benji said, motioning to the door, "Go to class and think long about what I said. You're on your own now."

Luca watched him turn and disappear into the crowd of students.

He most certainly was on his own, and whether he decided to act upon Benji's advice or ignore it and never truly figure anything out, he didn't know.

It seemed an obvious answer, but he wasn't sure if he should go with it.
