There was a knock on Ashton's door after school the next day and he groaned in response, scrunching his eyes in frustration and balling his hands into fists. He was sat on the scratchy carpet, eyes glued onto the large television, his video game placed on pause. He carelessly threw his controller across the floor with a thud before standing himself up and heading to the front door.

When he swung open the door, he was surprised to notice Betsy standing on the other side. He hadn't seen her since the previous week of school.

He stepped aside to let her in, her features cold and set in a pained scowl.

"You left without me," she started, brushing past Ashton.

"Sorry, " he grumbled in response, running a hand over his face, "I forgot."

"Whatever Ash," she commented, rolling her pretty eyes and heading into the lounge room where Ashton just was, throwing her schoolbag on the floor.

She casually plopped herself down on the couch and folded her arms over her chest, a dark eyebrow raised.

"I had to walk here," her tone was the least bit happy.

"Fuck, Betsy you should've just called me, I would've come picked you up," Ashton replied, sitting himself back down on the floor.

"Would you have?" she seethed, glancing away.

"Yes, of course I would have."

"I don't know Ash, seems like you're avoiding me lately."

She sounded hurt.

And shit, Ashton came to his senses that he had really fucked up. First, he lied to her just so he could get closer to her, then he pulled her in and despite her resistance—it was obvious the feelings were somewhat mutual and just like that, just as she had seemed to return the feelings he had, he lost them and pulled away.

He was a real dickhead and the worst part about it, was that Luca knew this was going to happen. He had every right to hate him, because here he was, doing exactly what Luca predicted—hurting Betsy.

And maybe he truly had been talking to Luca so he could pursue his sister, instead of doing it because he wanted to befriend the boy.

Luca was right. Luca hated Ashton and Ashton now realised why. He was the epitome of assholes and nothing, not even a girl he thought was perfect, could change that.
