Much to everyone's surprise, Luca and Benji seemed to be getting along very well.
They walked with slow, languid steps behind Ashton, Betsy and Fredrick, chatting and getting to know one another.
Ashton was livid. He couldn't enjoy the conversation he was having with Betsy, he suddenly didn't want to go on any rides and he kept sending glares over to the two boys.
He knew he was overreacting, but he didn't quite know why. Sure, it annoyed him that Luca was befriending Benji before him but somewhere deep inside, he was feeling hurt.
On one or two occasions he wondered if he were jealous but immediately brushed off the thought and scoffed to himself.
"Ash, want to go on the Ferris wheel with me?"
Ashton glanced over to Betsy who was smiling widely at him, and for some reason in her smile—all he could think of was Luca's.
He nodded anyway despite his odd thoughts—he knew he was just feeling slightly off, was all.
"You guys going on the Ferris wheel? We'll join too," Benji interrupted, moving to follow them to the line.
Ashton looked back and noticed the hesitance in Luca's walk.
"You want to go with me Luca?" Benji asked, his smile that had been there all day long still intact.
Luca nodded his head and went to move next to Benji in the line.
The four of them moved up in the line, a silence enveloping the moment in a weird sort of way. Ashton's mind kept drifting to the boy behind him and thus, he continued to ask himself why? Why was Luca dominating his thoughts so suddenly?
Thankfully, Ashton was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard Betsy's phone buzz.
She read her phone and looked up at Ashton, "Bella is just around here, I'm gonna go say a quick hi, I'll be right back!"

Ashton nodded and watched as she twisted her way out of the line and dashed off to find her friend.
Minutes later and Betsy had yet to return. The line was moving quickly and the three boys were nearing the front.
Ashton watched as the people who had just been on, were now getting off as the Ferris wheel rotated and exchanging seats with people right at the front of the line.
More people got off and more people on.
Ashton was at the front of the line now. He quickly casted his gaze around, trying to find Betsy but she was nowhere in sight.
He peered back just as the worker opened the gate and ushered Ashton in, guiding him to the Ferris wheel.
The worker then looked at the line once and then between Benji and Luca with a slight frown before shrugging. He pointed straight at Luca and ushered him in, and Ashton watched as surprise flickered over Luca's face before he was being pushed into the seat with Ashton.
