"Yo what the fuck is up with Benji?" Mateo asked Ashton at football practice.

Ashton shrugged his shoulders, "What do you mean?"

"What do I mean? He got all pissy at me for absolutely nothing," Mateo said, throwing his bag on the grass.

"I don't know man, you were kinda acting like a dick.." Ashton mumbled, leaning down to stretch his legs.

"You guys are all pussies," Mateo said, shaking his head.

They were silent for a bit, both focusing their attention on stretching their muscles before practice began and the rest of the team piled down to the oval. Since Mateo was the vice captain, he tended to help out Ashton with getting things ready—especially because their coach was slack.

"I think he's gay," Mateo spoke up, breaking the silence.

Ashton snapped his head towards his friend, scrunching his eyebrows together.

"You think?" Ashton asked, moving to stretch his right leg.

Mateo rolled his eyes, "Heck yes, the dude keeps winking at me. Probably likes me or some crap."

Ashton's frown grew deeper, and his mind wandered back to the multiple times Benji winked at him as well.

"Winking makes a guy gay?" Ashton asked cluelessly.

"Well no but with everything he said today at lunch..it kind of indicates he might be..don't you think?"

Ashton shrugged, "I don't know. Do you have a problem with it?"

"What you're saying you don't? You're cool with gays?" Mateo asked, scoffing under his breath.

Ashton thought on this for a moment or two, he wasn't really too sure on the whole topic. He never tended to care if someone was gay, so why start now?

"Can't be bothered thinking about it," was all he said, jumping up and glancing over Mateo's shoulder.

His eyes caught on a couple of the teammates who were jogging their way down to the oval and he sighed in relief.

And now despite his words, all Ashton's mind was full of, was thoughts about one word. Gay.
