Betsy didn't even bother asking Luca if he wanted to join her to go watch Ashton play. What was the point when she knew he would refuse instantly?

She made her way down to the school, nerves building up inside of her with each step she took. She had never really been to a football game due to her entire family not being very sporty people—so she wasn't quite sure what to expect.

When she finally made it to the school and manouvered her way to the oval, her eyes instantly scanned the group of boys in search for Ashton.

Shawn who was amongst that very group, spotted Betsy's bright red hair in an instant and nudged Ashton.

"You invited Bezzy?" he asked with a playful smirk creeping up onto his lips.

Ashton instantly turned and followed Shawn's gaze, smiling when he caught sight of Betsy who seemed to be staring straight at him.

He raised his hand and waved at her to which she waved back before breaking their eye contact and went in search for a seat.

"Oooh la-la," someone else from the group said who had obviously been watching the faraway interaction take place.

Ashton sent him a glare, "What's with you guys and acting like immature idiots?"

Everyone in the team had their eyes on their captain, some with amused smiles and others looking slightly frightened at Ashton's tone of voice.

Benji, one of Ashton's good friends slapped him on the shoulder, "Says you mate, you used to be the most immature out of all us. I guess love changed you huh?"

Ashton snorted, shaking away Benji's hand and sending one more quick glance towards Betsy. She seemed to be chatting to a girl next to her, but his eyes were only directed at her. She was gorgeous, even from so afar.

He turned back and shrugged at Benji, "Maybe I just grew up," he said with a tight smirk.

Benji laughed aloud and sent Ashton a quick wink, "Whatever you say buddy."

"Fuck off Ben," Ashton exclaimed, clapping his hands together, "Alright everyone! Quit gossiping and more drills! The opposing team is fucking late so warm up idiots!"
