《WALKER》NINE

I placed a kiss on Hunter's forehead. He fainted from the pain and is now asleep. I covered him with the blanket on the bed before leaving his room and going back into the kitchen.

I started packing my medical supplies back into my kit before washing my hands. I turned back around and found Kieran watching me.

"Oh it's you." I said and he bit into his bottom lip.

"Can we talk?" He asked and I gulped nervously. "About that night- I-"

"No, I don't wanna talk about it. Not right now." I said in a strained voice before placing my first aid kit into a cupboard.

"It was my fault." He said with a pained look on his face and I blankly looked at him. "I'm sorry-" he said softly so I looked away from him.

"I should thank you. I became who I am today because of what you did." I said before walking around the kitchen counter.

"Ro-"

"I can fend for myself. Always have, always will. Nothing changed it just turned out that you were just another wordsmith with time on your hands." I said before going upstairs.

I locked the door behind me before kicking the wet boots off of my feet. I stripped out of my bloody clothes before going into the bathroom.

I turned the water on and held my hand under it to check if it was warm. I pulled my hand back and a pained hiss escaped my lips.

I looked down at my hand and clenched my teeth when I noticed a burn mark there.

"Acid?" I said with a frown on my forehead. I carefully closed the tap before getting dressed and running downstairs. I took a bottle of water out of the refrigerator before pouring it on my burning hand. My breathing evened and I grabbed my first aid kit before applying some ointment to my wound. Biting my tears back I fixed a bandage around my hand before putting my kit away.

I sighed before wiping my blurry eyes. I let out a shivery breath before heading upstairs to Elliot's room. I heard voices coming from inside and realized that he was talking to Noah.

"She clearly can't be trusted." Elliot whispered and I frowned. Are they talking about me. "She's been acting like a bitch ever since-"

"Don't call your sister a bitch." Noah said sternly.

"She can't be in charge anymore. She's not thinking straight." Elliot said in frustration.

"I agree. She put all of us in danger by letting those guys stay here." Noah said blankly.

"We can't trust them. It's clear that they have an ulterior motive. And as for my sister, she needs to step down from her little throne. Who knows who else she'll invite in here." Elliot said and I looked at the door in disbelief.

I still have to warn them about the water so I put my emotions to the side before knocking on the door and it flew open.

"What?" Elliot asked in annoyance so I looked at my feet to hide my anger. I held onto my hand and he took it into his own.

"What happened to your hand?" He asked in a protective tone. "Was it one of your friends?" He asked putting an emphasis on the last word.

"The water is laced with acid." I said blankly before pulling my hand out of his grasp.

Noah came walking up to us before taking my hand into his and examining it. I clenched my jaw before ripping my hand out of his grasp.

"You surprised me." I said while looking between the two of them. "If you want to be in charge so badly then go ahead." Faith and I won't be part of it. We'll be gone by tomorrow morning.

I walked away from them and they called after me but I shut my bedroom door behind me.

I pulled the suitcase out from under my bed before throwing some of my clothes into it. I went to Faith's room and grabbed some warm coats and tops for her before going back to my room.

I packed her clothes next to mine before zipping the suitcase shut. I grabbed our toiletries before putting it into my backpack.

I got dressed into a pair of black jeans and a thick matching coat. I pulled my worker boots on before grabbing my gun and placing it into its holster on my hip.

I sat Faith's clothes out before grabbing my axe and alarm. I watched the time while sitting at the edge of my bed.

When the clock striked five am I woke faith up. I told her to quickly get dressed and she questioned me over the fact that she had to miss her shower but I ignored her.

She slipped her boots on before grabbing her knife from off the nightstand.

"Be quiet." I whispered to her as we went out into the hall. We carefully walked downstairs without making any sounds. When we reached the door I let out a shaky breath before turning the key in the hole.

An icy wind blew into my face so I narrowed my eyes at the feeling. I walked outside before holding my hand out to Faith then we headed towards my dad's car.

I unlocked the car and the lights flashed twice. I cussed under my breath before looking towards the door but the lights didn't go on. I sighed in relief before starting the engine.

I slowly drove through the main gates of the house before letting out a breath of relief.

"Where are we going?" Faith asked in confusion.

"We're going to my parents." I told her and she looked at me with wide eyes.

"But uncle Elliot said-"

"I know what he said but they're still my parents. And I love them, it's like how you want us to find your daddy again." I told her and she nodded before looking back to the road.

I drove down the street and sighed tiredly. I don't even know where to look for them. Maybe they're in the next town.

I've been there once with my dad. He had some old friends there, but that town was always known for its high crime and violence rate.

But it's the end of the world, how bad can it be? I've already been through it all.
