《WALKER》SEVEN

"Uncle Noah why do you call them rotters?" Faith asked Noah and he chuckled.
"Doesn't rotter sound cooler than a walker?" He asked Faith and she shrugged.
"I guess." The little girl said before braiding her hair and Noah continued to clean our guns with a smile on his face. I smiled at the two of them before walking over to Elliot.
"How long do you think we can stay here?" I asked Elliot and he slowly turned around to face me.
"Hopefully until the winter is over." He said and I nodded. "I mean this town has been closed off for humans for two years now." He said and I frowned.
"What do you mean?" I asked and he sighed.
"I mean be careful, quiet and clean. It's just us and the rotters." He said and I nodded.
"Hey El," I called and he frowned at me.
"I'm glad you're here." I said before squeezing his hand. "I think we can start cleaning the backyard for training and you know for Faith to have a place to play with her toys." I said and Elliot and Noah nodded in agreement.
"Also I'm going out tomorrow." I announced and both men in front of me frowned.
"The hell you are." Elliot said angrily.
"I'm going looking for mom and dad and since you don't want anything to do with them I'm going by myself." I said blankly.
"Listen to me, Ro. They're dangerous." Elliot said and I clenched my jaw.
"Well they're my parents." I argued. "Our parents."
"I don't give a fuck. They left me when I needed them and they did it to save their own asses." Elliot said angrily.
"Maybe it was misunderstanding. At least give them a second chance. We might need them." I said and Elliot frowned at me.
"We're adults, Rosaleigh. We don't need them for shit." He said and I frowned.

"What is your actual problem?" I asked in frustration.
"It wasn't a misunderstanding. If it happened twice they knew what the fuck they were doing. Our fucking sister is dead because of them!" Elliot said angrily.
"I'm still going." I said pointedly.
"I'll go with you." Noah said so I shook my head.
"Then we're all fucking going." Elliot said in frustration.
"We survive together." Faith said from behind us so I swung around.
"Why aren't you in bed?" I asked softly and she shrugged.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?" She asked so I nodded.
"I'll be right up, go on." I said and she smiled before heading back upstairs.
"It's too dangerous for all of us." I whispered.
"We're all going." Elliot said pointedly.
"I'm with Elliot on this one." Noah said so I slumped into a barstool.
"Fine, I'll stay." I said in frustration before going upstairs.
"Rose are we leaving?" Faith asked so I sighed.
"No, we're staying." I said softly.
"Okay." Faith said sleepily. "I like this house." She said before going quiet.
"Yeah me too, kid." I said softly.
"Rose?" She called again so I hummed in response.
"Do you think I'll see my daddy again?" She asked and I pursed my lips together while looking at her back as she laid under the covers.
"Yeah." I said softly. "Once the winter is over we can start looking for your dad again." I told her.
"Okay, goodnight Rosaleigh." She said quietly.
"Goodnight my little munchkin." I said before going over to place a kiss on her forehead.
Hopefully we do find Faith's dad again. It'll mean the world to her. And I have to figure out a way to find my parents. But I can't risk the safety of the entire group.
I climbed in bed before closing my eyes and tossing and turning until I fell asleep.

Loud banging on my bedroom door woke me up so I sat upright in bed. I frowned as it was still dark but the knock sounded urgent so I climbed out of bed before going to the door.
"Who is it?" I asked carefully.
"It's me, Noah." He said and I sighed softly before unlocking the door and going out into the hallway.
"The house is surrounded by rotters." He said and my eyes widened.
"There's walkers outside the house?" I asked and he nodded.
"Get your gun and lock Faith in your room." He said so I nodded before he ran off downstairs. I went back inside my room before grabbing my gun and axe before locking Faith inside the room and heading downstairs.
"Just a normal Wednesday." Noah said while aiming his gun at the rotters outside the house.
"Wait guys we can't shoot at them. It'll just alert more walkers that we're here." I said before holding my axe up.
"You're right." Elliot said softly. I'll go out the back, since I have the silencer, you guys take the front." He said and Noah and I nodded.
I went over to the left side of the house before tapping on the window. The zombies followed my sounds and Noah slipped out of the house as they moved away from the door.
I ran outside after him before running further onto the open field covered with snow. The walkers started heading toward us their groans filling the cold air of the night.
I ran forward before cutting my axe into a zombies skull. I went on to a few other zombies and easily killed them as this wasn't my first rodeo.
Noah was light on his feet and were able to dodge every single zombie he came in touch with. I watched him sticking his knife into a zombies skull so I averted my gaze from him to the gnawing zombies in front of me.
I went back to killing the zombies as there was only a few of them left. In the distance I noticed a small light so I frowned deeply.
"Noah! I think someone's watching us." I yelled over to Noah before killing the last zombie in front of me.
"I'll go check it out. Go help Elliot." Noah said so I nodded before running around the back.
I noticed a zombie coming up from behind Elliot so I ran up to it before cutting it's skull open with my axe.
"Thanks." Elliot said before shooting five zombies in five seconds. I killed two more zombies before breathing out tiredly.
"I think someone was watching us in the woods. Noah went to go check it out." I said while breathing heavily.
"Go to Faith and lock all the doors. This might be an ambush. I'll go to Noah." Elliot said so I nodded before running into the house and locking the doors behind me. I ran straight upstairs before opening my bedroom door and locking it behind me.
I went over to Faith before waking her up and as I did so something hard hit the door.
"Get your knife." I whisper yelled at Faith so she grabbed her knife from off the nightstand. "Go into the box." I said and Faith opened the door in the wall before climbing into the small space.
I closed the door behind her before placing a stack of chairs in front of it. I picked my axe up before holding it in the air. I quietly stalked towards the door before looking through the keyhole.
A man in an army uniform stood in front of the door so I frowned. I thought everyone in the army was dead. He banged against the door so I jumped away in shock.
"Open up, doc." He said and a frown rested on my forehead.
"Doc." I said under my breath, I know that voice.

The world ended on December thirty-first of the year two thousand and twenty, precisely at the stroke of midnight. The human race began to be systematically exterminated by the spawn of the System. We were given a chance to defeat them, to take back our place at the top of the food chain. We failed. The first to perish were those who bravely rebelled. The soldiers. The defenders. One by one, they fell. In their final moments, they begged for aid. Nobody replied. The next to succumb were those who feebly cowered. The deniers. The leeches. Together, they fell. In their final moments, they cried out into the darkness. Countless voices replied in kind. The last to decline were those who shamelessly ran. The deserters. The cowardly. Alone, they fell. In their final moments, they whimpered quietly. There was nobody left to answer. The final human to die was a survivor. A runner. As he died, he begged for salvation. His prayers were answered. He was offered a chance to save himself, along with all of humanity, and he took it. This is his story. “I sat in the dark and thought: There’s no big apocalypse.
