《Destructive Heaven》Chapter 1: Yellow

The hustle and bustle of the city has a way of filling people with unlimited amounts of energy. Every morning, thousands of ordinary, everyday people board the same train as you. The rising sun peeking over the tall buildings, and the clouds gaining the colors of it's rays; it's always a beautiful day. A hefty sigh exits your lungs as you lay your head against your arm that held tightly onto the train's pole.
As the train bumped down the tracks, your grip tightened around the cold, metal pole in order to keep yourself steady. Though the city you lived in was undoubtedly gorgeous, it was also just a never ending cycle of the same things over, and over, everyday.
You would go to work after the train makes it's first stop. You have an ordinary desk job that's held in one of the very buildings the sun was trying so desperately to get it's warmth over. You would meet deadlines, and then leave just as the sun began to sink beneath the horizon. From there, you would take the next train home, which was a small, but tidy apartment. It was just you.
No boyfriend, no friends. You hardly saw family, too. The moment your key turned the lock, was just the end of another ordinary day. One that will surely begin again tomorrow, and then the day after tomorrow, and then the day after that one as well. Don't get yourself wrong here, you didn't hate your life one bit. But the empty feeling that kept growing in your chest had a new want, other than financial stability.
You wanted to love, and be loved in return. Someone who would share your bed, and caress your cheek as the morning set in. You wanted the sensation of someone's lips against yours as you waved them goodbye to start your journey to your plain desk job. You were still young, but you always tell yourself. And there's this voice at the back of your mind warning you of the consequences of not putting yourself out there.
✞✞✞
With a small sigh, you hang your bag up on one of the hooks beside your front door. You slowly slide off your shoes, and made your way to the living room.

"I think I'll just be one of those crazy cat ladies.", you said gently to yourself, as your stare out the porch door.
A sudden soft, and warm feeling began to brush itself against your legs. As you look down, a small smile fills your face. Your white, long-haired cat, Snowball greeted your warmly. You slowly kneel down to caress its velvet fur, booping it gently on the nose. Watching it shrink back from the sensation caused you to let out a small chuckle of amusement.
"How many more brothers and sisters should I get you, Snowball?", you laughed.
Snowball only runs off to the back of the apartment, causing you to be all alone, once again. You steadily put yourself back onto your feet, and make your way over to the kitchen. You weren't much of a cooker, so most of your fridge and cabinets were filled with off-brand TV dinners, and the occasional cup-of-noodles.
You slowly pull your hair behind your ear, switching on the kitchen light. The sun has slowly descended beneath the horizon, and the clouds beam through your window with the last of their gentle pink, and purple hue. You began to heat up your water for your noodles, and slowly lifted your arms above your head to stretch.
"I'm just going to eat, shower, and go to bed today. Nothing more, nothing less.", you mumbled.
✞✞✞
You finished off your dinner, and fill Snowball's bowl with food before starting a hot shower. You quickly got in and out, enjoying the steam that was created around you. With a deep inhale, you wrapped your towel around your body and made your way to your room.
Your room was warm, and not too colorful. You had a soft bed, with many warm comforters and pillows. Your laptop laid gently at the edge of the bed, opening it as you made your way to the closet. You began to pull out a pair of your pajamas, and kicked out one of your cat's toys that somehow made its way in there. You quickly changed and plopped down onto bed, pulling the laptop over your stomach.
It was barely 9 pm at the time, which caused you to let out a sigh of relief. It was Thursday as well, so your long awaited weekend was near. You knew that you didn't really have plans though. As long as you got to sleep, it was a good weekend. You slowly browsed your apps on the computer, checking up on your empty social media accounts.

The minutes soon turned to hours as you clearly lost track of time. The sky was a deep navy, and the stars twinkled brightly through your top-floor window. Snowball was resting comfortably between your legs as you looked down at the time.
You almost couldn't believe your eyes, as the time read 3:34 am. You quickly slammed the laptop shut and threw your palm against your head.
"You're surely in for it tomorrow, you idiot!", you whine as your try to rub sleepiness into your eyes. But it didn't help, and you just somehow found yourself staring up at the empty ceiling.
✞✞✞
It was a few moments later when you saw Snowball suddenly perk her head up. Her ears flickered around the room, and she suddenly began to groan deeply. You slowly looked down at her in confusion, scanning the room yourself, only to find nothing. She suddenly let's out a frightened scream, hissing right after.
"You dumb cat, there's nothing ther—!", the words fell silent in your mouth. Your veins went ice cold. You could feel pellets of sweat form on your brow, as your breath turned shaky.
Two beaming, bright, yellow eyes were penetrateing your own. They were surrounded by the darkness in the corner of your room, never once blinking, or losing eye contact with you. Snowball quickly ran beneath your bed out of pure fear, her fur frazzled from this unknown entity. You tried to scream, but your throat went dry.
The only sound in the room was your pounding heart, as you quickly grabbed your phone and threw it at the corner the eyes floated in, and just like that, they vanished right as your phone smashed against the wall. You panted as you grabbed ahold of your sweaty head, your palms shaking as your fingers tried to latch onto your hair.
"It's just some weird dream, I'm just imagining things. I'm just tired..", you said in hopes of comforting yourself, but that soon shattered as a low, male voice boomed from beside your bed.
"A dream? What a cute lie."
You let out a frightened scream as a man, at least 6 feet tall, stood beside your bed. Horns twisted out of his head, sharp fangs glimmering in the light of the moon as he let's out an amused chuckle. His yellow orbs looked right through you, violating your body as they looked you up and down.
"We finally meet.", he smirks.
"Who the fuck are you!? What are you doing in my apartment—" you screamed, but it was short lived before his large hand came smashing down onto your throat. His massive body hovered over yours as you laid on the bed in a frantic struggle to remove his tight grip.
"Listen up, human. To start things off, you're going to need to be real quiet, and I'm sure you don't want to find out what happens if you don't oblige.", the man says as his eyes flicker.
Your vision began to blur from the tears welling up on your bottom lid. Air suddenly rushes your lungs as his hand releases itself from around your throat. You choked on the air, almost vomiting as color returned back to your cheeks.
"Great. Now that that's over, allow me to introduce myself!", the man says as he cocks his head to the side with a devilish smile.
You could see the every ridge and twist in his horns as the moon highlighted every detail they held. He suddenly backs away from your bedside, and bows ever so slightly.
"Hello, my dear. My name is Cain, and I've come to destroy everything you held dearly. I intend to drive you to insanity, and when I finally achieve that, I will devour you.", the demon says, his eyes burning into you as your tears finally began to roll down your heated cheeks.
"You're going to kill me?"
