The icy grey sky restlessly grumbled. The thick blackened clouds were dragged down by the heavy rain which it held in its delicate frame. The clouds which struggled to withstand the burden of the weight which the rain held, soon gave in.

The rain poured down over the city with a roar. The sound of emptiness was disrupted by the loud gregarious boom of thunder. The cold icy rain pierced her pale and wet skin. The rain ran across the slippery path, Beverly's posture weakened by the weight of her soaked clothes. The quality of darkness shifted in the sky but the rain kept pouring. The harsh rain obliterated the crystal reflection of the sky and turned it into an disorientated chaos.

"I'm worried about her" Adam mumbled

The girls and Adam were all leaning against the window inside the house, their focus only landing on the short hair blonde that sat on the beach in the pouring rain

It's been a week since Crystal left and Beverly's mind has never been the same. She hasn't slept a wink since she came back from the hospital, she's been pacing around the house like a maniac and cleaning any spot of dust she sees.

Anything to distract her mind and heart from the fact that she couldn't hold Aquamarine in her arms.

"She's going to get herself killed" Josie groaned

No matter how much they tried, they just couldn't get through to the blonde. For days, she'd lock herself in her room, staring at the blank canvas of a wall which she hoped to one day decorate with pictures of her wedding day and her fingers intertwined with her girlfriend

"I tried talking to her lastnight, but it was like talking to a tree" Allie mumbled

"It doesn't matter. She doesn't want to talk, she just wants Aqua" Adam said as he glanced out the window

Beverly sat on the beach, her thighs pressed against her chest and her chin on her knees, wrapping her arms around her legs as she stared off to the horizon

The ocean breathed, her surface rising and falling with rhythmic ease. The waves became her pulse that day, the echo of the souls she kept safe in her cradle of brine, the heavy downpour of rain interrupted the ocean's calm pushing and pulling tide to the grainy sand of the beach

Water washed over her skin so strongly that it felt as if she was in the flow of a river rather than a rain shower, one that left her standing yet lets her know that it was here to stay for a while. And so the only thing to do was to keep sitting, to accept it as easily as the air she was breathing, to see it run over the earth beneath the flat and smooth area of her toes

"Come on Aqua, I know you're near" Bev whispered to herself

Each raindrop is the drop that kissed her skin in those days that her and Aqua were together. Each one was the same because they sung of those such treasured memories, of the comforting love that remained and the hopes she hold for their future.

She was determined to be the first one to see Aqua return.

Beverly had been studying the weather and it's patterns for the past week, she knew the weather was voilent everytime a mermaid appeared on land. Beverly spent hours in the library, running around to the news station and examining every inch of research she had on the climate.

For she had faith in Crystal and was determined to get the love of her life back.

She hadn't spoken to anyone for the week, neither had she eaten anything. Her mind wasn't where it needed to be, nor was her heart.

For her heart had been taken to Atlantis the day Aqua left.

She cared not if she had to die in that storm, she wasn't going to move and miss the chance to see her girlfriend appear again. The storm was all too familiar, three times they've experienced that type of intensity. She had a feel deep down that this was it.

But suddenly, lightning came, a brilliant shock of white in the graphite sky, forking silently to the unsuspecting ground just inches away from Beverly - the thunderous boom always calling its warning too late.

The girl's and Adam flinched inside the house from the bright and shocking strike, some falling to the ground from the intense sound and vibration of the lightening but Beverly didn't bat an eye. Not a hair on her arm raised, her focus was only on the horizon

"Oh for FUCK SAKES BEVERLY, GET YOUR ASS IN HERE BEFORE YOU GET KILLED" Josie yelled as she pushed open the door

"Josie! WATCH IT" Allie hissed as she ran after the girl, it was too dangerous to be outside

"No! She almost fucking DIED and she's still sitting here. Do you want your girlfriend to come back to a dead corpse! Fried to perfection!?" she hissed

But the short hair blonde remained silent, no words. Just her soft breathing and lost gaze

"Beverly I know you're going through some shit right now but it isn't safe to be out here!" Josie yelled as she pushed through the heavy downpour of rain, running towards

"We can't drag her into the house!" Elena yelled

"Yes. Yes we can!" Adam hissed as he also ran after them

"Touch me and I'll chop all of your fingers off" Beverly said in a low voice, never moving her focus away from the ocean

"Goddammit Bev, you almost DIED" Allie yelled

"I died when she was taken away" Beverly mumbled

"I... Okay that's just depressing" Adam laughed

"I'm sorry, I have to" Josie snickered

"Whatever" Beverly mumbled

Elena sighed and glared at two idiots that laughed, they immediately went silent and mumbled a sorry, avoiding eye contact with everyone else.

The rain continued to pour onto their bodies, drenching anything dry and ruining it. Their bodies were now soak and water dripped down their eyelids, blurring their vision but no one moved.

Allie was the first to join Beverly on the ground, the girl sat close to her cousin, pulling her knees to her chest and placing her focus on the ocean with the storm still coming heavy

The rest of the group glanced at each other and nodded, almost having a mental conversation with each other.

They walked over to the two girls and took a seat on the soaked sand, bringing their knees to their chest and focusing on the ocean too.

They knew they couldn't get Beverly to go back into the house without a fight, a fight they couldn't win. But there was no chance in hell they were going to leave her out there alone.

Beverly finally showed her first sign of emotion for the entire week, a smile appeared on her lips as she glanced at her friends who stared off to the horizon.

In times like these, Beverly was happy to have such supportive friends. It wasn't just a simple gesture, they were all sitting out in the ocean during a storm, risking their lives. There was no way she could ever pay them back, but she was lucky to have them

"I love you guys" Beverly mumbled

"We love you. You know that" Adan said as he glanced at the girl

"I.. I know-"

"It's okay. We get it, she's the person your heart needs, the person you can't be without. Some people spend a lifetime looking for that one person" Adam mumbled

The group could see wind-stirred waves in Beverly's eyes. Never had they ever seen such a love like the two girls had. It wasn't something special, there was an instant connection from the day they met, they've been through their own personal challenges and made it out together.

Their love was unlike any other, it was something the group admired and respected. There was just something so raw and powerful about the way the two girls cared about each other.

When it came to them, If any were brave enough to enter their depths, all else would blur and they'd fall so deep in love that you'd choose to stay there, no matter what.

"We're here for you Bev, no matter what happens" Allie assured as she hooked her arm around her cousin's back

"And we'll always be here" Josie said, also hooking her arm around the girl

There was a shared moment between the group that didn't need words, they were all leaning against each other's shoulder with their eyes out on the horizon, being drenched by the heavy downpour of rain above and the strike of lighting from the distance onto the rippling ocean. For they knew they loved each other and all had their hearts together, waiting and hoping for Aquamarine to return.

"I... I don't know what I'd do without her" Beverly mumbled

All heads turned in her direction while the girl continued to stare off to the ocean. It was the girl's breaking point they had been waiting for since she'd return from the hospital

"She's my everything, you know?" She mumbled

"We know" Elena whispered and bit down on her bottom lip nervously

"We had everything planned out. Our life, where we wanted to live together. She was going to be an hour late to my graduation and I'd tell at her all the way home but she'll do this cheesy dinner to make up for it and I'd melt into her. But now.. I don't know if she's breathing, much less if she's coming back" Beverly's voice cracked

"Don't you dare say that. Aqua is alive and you know it. We all know it" Allie hissed

"She'll be here Beverly" Adam assured

Beverly sobbed into her knees unceasingly, hands clutching at her legs. Allie and Josie's arms immediately wrapped around her tightly as they held her in silence, rocking her slowly as her tears soaked her chest with the pouring rain.

A tiny lapse let her pull away, blinking lashes heavy with tears, before she collapsed again, her howls of misery worsening. It's been days since she'd built up her pain, her struggles. She's hid her anger, her frustration feel within her heart and it was finally erupting. For what was done in the dark would come out in the light.

The pain must have come in waves, minutes of sobbing broken apart by short pauses for recovering breaths, before hurling her back into the outstretched arms of her own grief.

Adam grinded his teeth together as he avoided looking at the girl, he knew the pain she was feeling and it was hard to watch. He hated seeing his friends so heartbroken but he also missed his ex fiance.

Since the rain was pouring on him, his tail was out. Luckily no one was around the beach, besides there was a storm outside. No one in their righted mind would be out there unless they were mentally inside like the girls and him.

The boy's eyes looked out to the horizon and he squinted, it all looked so familiar. Way too familiar. He remembered what it was like and the events that led up to him appearing on land.

The boy tilted his head to the side as he saw a small flash poke through the surface of the water. His tail seemed to flutter as a feeling rose through his body. His eyes went wide and how jaw slowly lowered.

Adam nudged Elena's shoulder to alert her of what was happening on the surface, the girl's eyes went wide as she whispered something into Josie's ear who also told Allie and passed it over to Jackie on the end.

"Don't tell her, let's just give them a moment" Adam whispered to Elena who nodded in response

"Beverly, you know we love you right?" Josie asked

"Yes?" Bev mumbled as she turned her head to face her best friend, confused by her sudden words

"Then please forgive me for what I'm about to do" Josie said

"Josie, what are you doi-JOSIE" Beverly screamed when her best friend climbed onto her lap and covered Beverly's entire face, blocking out her sight

"Go go go!" She hissed at the group

The girl's immediately stood to their feet and dashed towards the house, their feet flinging up sand as they ran

"Helloooo, a little help over here!?" Adam yelled

The man was flat on his back and his tail flipped around to the water that came in and brushed against the shore

"Oh shit, right!" Allie yelled

The girls then ran back for Adam, hooking their arms around his own and dragging his body across the sand, leading into Beverly's back yard

"Ow Ow OWWWW WATCH IT" He hissed

"It's not like you weigh 10 pounds Adam!" Allie yelled

"Bitch, LIFT WITH THEM MAN ARMS YOU GOT. I DON'T WANT THAT PEBBLE TAKING AWAY MY VIRGINITY" the boy yelled

Allie then dropped him flat on his back as she stared at him confused, the boy hissed in pain and turned to glare at her

"You're a virgin?" She snickered

"My blowhole is at the back, that pebble would have slid right up there and took away my back door virginity. Now LIFT" Adam ordered

The girls laughed and dipped their arms around the boy again, dragging him into the backyard

Beverly continued fighting with her best friend that was on top of her, pushing and shoving her off.

"Would you stop moving!" Josie yelled

"I can't see shit, get off me!" Beverly hissed

"Just give me a minute" Josie mumbled, her hands still covered Beverly's face, blocking out her view

Josie's head turned in the direction of the familiar raven hair girl that emerged from the water. She tossed her wet obsedian hair over her back and turned her sparkling green eyes towards her girlfriend on the beach.

Aqua's hands reached above her head as she recalled being able to make a force field to block out any water from touching her skin, allowing her tails to slowly emerge into the smooth layer of skin once again. A dim light pierced through from her hand, the strong downpour of rain bounced off the force field. The lack of liquid and moisture on her skin allowed to slowly fade into those long legs she missed so dearly

"Whoa" Josie chuckled

Aqua smiled and stood to her feet, her eyes never leaving her girlfriend's face. Josie smiled widely as she motioned for Aqua to come closer

"Josie, are you going to get off me now?" Beverly groaned

Josie smirked and slowly stood to her feet, still covering her hands over the girl's face but allowed Aqua to climb onto the blonde's lap

She slowly made her way behind when best friend, making sure not to take her hands off the girl's face

"Promise you won't freak out" Josie chuckled

"Oh my God, what did you do" Bev groaned

"I didn't do anything. Why are you accusing me of this!"

"I don't know, you said don't freak out! People usually start to freak out!"

"You're so weird sometimes" Aqua chuckled

It was then Beverly's heart stopped beating for a whole five seconds. Josie's fingers were then removed from the girl's face, slowly peeling backwards.

Her brain stuttered for a moment and her eyes took in more light than she expected, every part of her went on pause, her thoughts disappearing from her mind.

"A-Aqua?" she whispered

The raven hair girl smirked and brought her hands towards her girlfriend's face, cupping them.

"It's me baby" She whispered

Beverly felt her blood run cold when the girl's fingers touched her skin, feeling that familiar electric sensation flow through her body and bring goosebumps onto her skin, it was in that moment she realized. It was truly Aquamarine.

Beverly didn't think twice before she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend. Aqua chuckled and pulled the blonde into her chest. In her embrace the world stopped still on its axis. There was no time, no wind, no rain.

So she squeezed, she squeezed the soft skin of the girl that she missed so dearly. She squeezed with all the energy and might she had, wanting to melt and remain in that moment.

She loved to touch her, those hands, that obsidian hair that fell in behind her back. Her warmth would seep into Bevrley's being and she comforted her without ever opening her mouth.

She'd melt into her like ice-cream on a warm porcelain bowl, like she belonged next to Aquamarine.

Beverly's mind was at peace. She felt her body press in, soft and warm. This was the love she'd waited for, prayed for. She inwardly thanked God and hugged all the tighter. A love like this was to be cherished for life. Finally, she was home right where she belonged

"God I missed you so much" Beverly said breathlessly against the girl's chest

"I know you did baby" Aqua whispered, her hands gripped under the girl's chin and pulled her forward, connecting their lips

Their soft lips touched each other so gently but firmly at the same time. Almost scared of touching each other. Their mouths together elicited satasified breaths from both girls. They hummed softly in pleasure as their sensitive flesh moved against each other's delicately.

There was something so heavenly about a kiss in the rain, a tender moment that just won't wait. It was that burst of love that was expressed, not caring if the water soaked through to chill the skin. It was a connection that shows the strength of the feeling, the mutual need. It was a rebellion against the elements. Nature can bring the rain but our inner sunshine comes through just the same.

In the rain Aqua's hair became one with her face, wetly draped over the bone structure that drove Beverly crazy.

She kissed the droplets from Aqua's lips, and felt your lips smile against her own. She swept the girl's hair aside and kissed her just over the collarbone.

Aqua sank herself self into the girl's arms. The blonde hung her fingers on Aqua's waistband, dragging her closer.

"I never stopped thinking about you" Aqua whispered as she buried her face in her girlfriend's shoulder curve

"I was so fucking worried" Beverly muttered, her nails sunk into her girlfriend's back as she held onto her for dear life

"I was so fucking worried Aqua" She hissed

"It's okay. It's okay I'm here" The raven hair girl chuckled

"No. I thought I lost you Aqua. I didn't know how to react, I didn't know how to fucking breathe after that. You are taken away from me like nothing, I had no fucking idea if you were alive but that wasn't even the scariest part. The fact that you weren't there was the hard one. This world is full of evil people and I am sick of it. I thought you were gone Aqua. For good. God I love you so much" beverly's voice started to crack

Then she broke down, when she cried there was a rawness to it, like the pain was still an open wound. She clasped onto Aqua's back for support, anything and then her whole body started to shake, her lips were the worst. Her sobs were stifled at first as she attempted to hide her pain and look brave but then she was overcame by the wave of her emotions.

Beverly then broke down entirely, all of her defences washed away in those salty tears

"Shh, baby look at me" Aqua whispered as she cupped her girlfriend's cheek, pulling her glossy eyes towards her

Beverly was a mess, her face was soaked from the rain but her tears were obvious. They streamed down her cheek as her lines clenched together but despite it, Aqua smiled.

She smiled because she knew their love was real.

She smiled because she felt every single emotion her girlfriend was also feeling

She smiled because she knew she was lucky to have her

She smiled because the girl looked beautiful despite her sob face

"I'm here. And I'm never, ever going anywhere ever again" Aqua said in a stern voice

"How.. How can you even be so sure"

"I promise. I swear on my heart, nothing will ever keep us apart. Never again. I promise you that Beverly" She whispered
