Narrator's pov

The blood drained from Aqua's face and ran to the pit of her stomach because she didn't expect to see the woman's face, especially when trying to escape a situation like this.

"Megan?!" Aqua hissed

The mermaid's lips parted as she stared at Aquamarine

"You-you're free... Why are you free?!" Megan questioned

"You knew I was chained up to that damn wall? And you didn't do anything?!" Aqua spat

"I... I couldn't... Can you imagine what they would have done to me if I went against their word?" Megan asked

Megan was Aquamarine's maid since she was 14, the woman was 17 when Aqua was that age. So it currently meant that she was 23, she had blue eyes that striked through the souls of many and ginger hair that flowed with the currant of the water. Her tail was covered in red scales and her body was picture perfect. Megan was the first girl that Aqua had ever been with physical. It was never an emotional connection.

"I could understand that-" Aqua whispered but was cut off by Megan tossing her arms around her

The finger hair girl pulled Aqua's chest into hers and she wrapped her arms around her neck, squeazing tightly as she buried her face into the Princess's neck.

"I missed you so much" Megan whispered

"I-" Well obviously Aqua couldn't answer that.

Did she miss the ginger hair girl? She never even mentioned her name through out the whole book so that's an obvious no.

"It's good to see you again" Aqua chuckled and patted the girl's back

"You ran away-"

"I swam away" Aqua corrected

"Right. You left on your wedding, how could you do something so CRAZY" Megan hissed when she pulled away

"What was I supposed to do? Stay here and rot?" Aqua asked

"I-"

"Exactly" She rolled her eyes

"You went against your father's orders" Megan mumbled

"My father doesn't have a brain, nor does he have a heart" Aqua said sternly

"But he Is the king"

"And so what? Being a king means you need to be respected even though you do shit? The day he shows any sign of love is the day I'll respect him" Aqua hissed

"I... I'm sorry" Megan whispered

"It's okay. Don't worry about it. You grew up listening to him, you don't know what he's really like" Aqua mumbled

"How did you break free?" She asked

"I'm a lesbian darling, I have a skillful tongue" Aqua smirked

"Oh-" Megan's cheek turned red

"How have you been?" she asked

"Miserable. The kingdom's been in shambles for months, everyone's running around and doing everything they can to provide for their families. They've even been there murders" Megan said

"What?!" Aqua hissed

A murder between their colony was something that was never done. Mermaids didn't take up quarter of the population much less half of earth, they were few so they stuck together to keep their bloodline alive. To be murdered was going against everyone and everything they believed in

"No one knows who it is, but there's rumors that it's the king"

"Why would my father murder his own people?" Aqua asked

"Some say it's because he was stressed and heartbroken. He lost his wife and then he lost his daughter, he took that rage and anger and went against his own rules. He took everything out by killing how he felt like. But then again, it's just a conspiracy although it sounded really accurate" Megan said

"I see your point. My father isn't the person everyone sees him as. He striked me when I left-"

"WHAT?" Megan panicked

"Yeah, the man would rather see me die than leave Atlantis by my own rules" Aqua whispered

"How are you even alive right now?!" Megan asked

"I... I don't know. I guess it's because I'm not as weak as he thought I was. Or maybe it's because of my mother's genes that allow our bodies to heal" Aqua said

"Wow... That's-"

"I know" Aqua whispered

"Then he striked me again when he found me"

"Oh my god"

"I know, I'm surprised I'm even alive right now" Aqua said

"One strike is a dead shot. But two is just... "

"All hail the king" Aqua muttered

"What was it like on land?" Megan asked

"It... It's different" Aqua chuckled

Megan furrowed her brows at the girl and she tried to pay attention to her words

"It's freeing, it's beautiful. There's so many things on there that we're all missing out on. We're in Atlantis, being restricted by squids and Samon when there's hotdogs on land" Aqua groaned

"Hot dog?" Megan asked

"It's a food they made with sausages and bread"

"Bread?"

"It's gonna take a long time for me to explain everything" Aqua chuckled

"I'm sorry"

"Don't be" Aqua smiled and swifted her body towards the door

"It sounds like it was amazing" Megan mumbled

"It is. You can enjoy that life Megan, you just need to come with me" Aqua whispered

"Me?"

"Yes you" Aqua giggled

"I... I can't"

"Oh come on Megan, do you really not want to try new things? Feet your toes in the sand, run through a field of bushes?" Aqua asked

"I.. I don't know Aqua"

"You can't stay here for the rest of your life. Everyone eventually turns on you at some point, especially when you least expect it" Aqua said sternly

Megan furrowed her brows and glanced at the floor, she knew what Aqua said was true but she's known Atlantis all of her life. Her heart and soul belonged to the king, it was what she grew up believing it. But then again, she was curious to know what laid ahead.

"I'll make you a deal. Help me get out of here and I'll take you with me. I promise you won't regret it" Aqua mumbled

"Aqua I can't"

"Please Megan, I need to see her again" Aqua whispered

"Who's her?"

"I fell in love Megan, I fell in love when I lease expected it but goddamn I'm fucking happy I did" She chuckled

"Oh... " Megan mumbled, a small pain came through the veins that was attached to her heart.

That was what Aqua failed to see, for years they said their arrangement wasn't emotional but as we all know.

Hookups always end because someone catches feelings and in this situation, Megan fell for the raven hair girl.

She's always felt attached to her in a way, they spent everyday together for years. They've watched each other grow from girls to women, they were even close friends a while back before they started to do anything when Aqua was 17.

It killed her inside when Aqua left. In her heart, she never wanted Aqua to marry that man, or marry anyone in general. But she couldn't go against the king.

Sure she wasn't brave enough to stand up to the man but whatever the king said was what everyone did.

"Wha-what's her name?" She whispered

"Beverly. Beverly Hills" Aqua grinned

"She's the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on-"

Megan's heart clenched in her chest when the words came out of Aqua's mouth, her jaw pressed against each other as her eyes met the beautiful raven hair girl

"When she smiles, I swear I can't breathe" Aqua giggled

"You seem happy with her" Megan whispered

"I am. She makes me happy, truly does" Aqua smiled

"So... You're trying to get back to land to be with her?" She asked

"Yes, my life's different now Megan. I'm chasing dreams, making friends, I'm putting myself out there and God it's the best feeling ever" She chuckled

"Oh...i... I just thought that it would be just the two of us if we escaped" Megan whispered

"Don't worry, I'll always have your back. I'll introduce you to some friends along the way, I promise it's going to blow your mind. You'll completely forget about everything here"

"Just like how you forgot about me" Megan said in a low, inaudible voice

"What was that?" Aqua asked

"Nothing, don't worry about it" Megan said

"Oh.. Okay... So what do you think? You up for a little adventure? Just the two of us being spies?" Aqua chuckled

"Just the two of us?"

"Just the two of us"
