"Aqua?" Beverly asked
The girl's heart stopped beating in her chest when her eyes ran over the raven hair person that stood at the door. She was taller than Aqua, her face was far wider but they looked almost identical
"No... Her name is Crystal...shes.." Allie mumbled
"Aquamarine's mother" Beverly whispered. Her brows furrowed as the woman came closer with a shy smile
"How?" Elena asked
"Yeah please explain to me what the fuck is going on" Josie hissed as she stared at the woman
"Kat Cunnings and I were talking about Aqua's career a long time ago and we happened to start a conversation about her mom... Then we started to talk about the name of the boat that took her away and I dig some digging, turns out that boat is actually the brand for a company that hunts for treasure in the ocean. They didn't expect to capture a mermaid but they brought her back to land and immediately shipped her off" Allie said
"Shipped her off where?" Bev asked
"Brazil" The woman answered. The blood drained from Beverly's face when she heard the soft voice of the woman, exactly like Aquamarine.
Aqua's father was right, she truly did inherit everything from her mother.
"I did some more research about the company with Kat and we found out that a few years ago they wanted to have a showcase and reveal the first mermaid to the world. They literally stuffed her in a fucking glass case of water the size of a jewelry case and tried to show her off to the entire world" Allie hissed
"Why wasn't this all over the news? I don't recall any incident of spotting the first mermaid" Josie said
"That's because that same night, I escaped" The woman answered
"You did?" Beverly whispered
"She escaped out of the box but... Before that night, they did a bunch of experiments on her. They tugged inches of her tail off-" Allie started
The girl's cringed at the image in their minds, it was basically mutilation.
"They tried to scrape off her scales because they thought she wasn't real-"
"Oh my God" Elena rubbed her temples
"And the worse one. They did a shock therapy on her. They strapped her down into a chair, her hair was still fucking wet and they placed her onto this machine. It shocked the muscles from her brain, I can't imagine the pain she must have been in, especially being electrocuted and there's water on your skin. It completely fried her brain and she lost all of her fucking memories of her life" Allie hissed

"Oh no" Josie whispered
Their eyes went wide and their jaws hung open, it explained so much. So much to the story that was missing.
The woman was like a ghost to them at first, they were all convinced that she was dead for years. Although they've never seen her before, they sympathized with the woman.
The girl's reached their hands out and held Crystal's to show their appreciation. The woman's bottom lip started to tremble and she hunched over Beverly's bed, her back started to rise and fall and muffled noises escaped her mouth, into the sheets
"It's okay" Beverly whispered, her hands pressed flat against the woman's back and rubbed small circles
"When she escaped on the night of the show case... She had no where to go.. No one she knew... She had no clue about anything human, so she's been missing in Brazil for years, leaving and adopting to everything. Apparently a sweet old woman saw her naked and trembling behind her dumpster and she brought her into her antique store, washed her up and gave her something to eat. It was the only perosn Crystal trusted and after years, the woman gave her a job. The woman was basically a mother figure to Crystal" Allie said
"That's... That's why it hurted so badly to leave her behind" Crystal whispered
"When Kat and I showed up, we were stunned to see that Crystal looked exactly like Aqua. At first she wasn't convinced at the story we told her but when I showed her a photo of Aquamarine, she felt something. Almost like a small part of her memory came back the second her eyes landed on the photo, so she knew deep down that she had to leave. It took everything in her to pack up and leave her life behind just to come back to California with us. She placed her trust into her hands and I'm happy that she did" Allie mumbled
"It's been a year since they've been helping me recover and get my memories back. I refused to see Aquamarine during that time. I didn't want to walk up to her and not know who she was. It's already overwhelming for her to see me, I couldn't let her be heartbroken if I also couldn't remember who she was" Crystal said
"You did the right call" Beverly whispered
She understood where the woman was coming from. Although Aquamarine would have loved it so much if she knew her mother was alive and in the same state with her for the past year, she knew the woman had her reasons for hiding.

"It's been a week since she's fully recovered her memories" Allie smiled and nudged Crystal's shoulder
"I wanted to surprise her on her birthday" Crystal whispered
"But now... " Allie whispered
"This happened" Beverly mumbled
Suddenly, a rapid beeping started to fill the entire room. The girl's glanced in the direction of Adam, his machine was spiriling out of control.
"Who's this?" Crystal asked
"Adam... He was supposed to get married to Aqua-"
"Aquamarine's a lesbian. Why would she get married to a man?" Crystal asked, a soft chuckle escaped the girl's lips, easing the tension in the room
"How'd you know?" Josie asked
"The girl screams gay, plus a mother always knows" Crystal smiled
"Well, alot has changed since you've been gone. Your husband is a fucking bitch who tried to sell Aqua off like sardine"
"I'll kill him" Crystal said
"Please do" Beverly rolled her eyes
The machine started to race even more, the girls bit their lips nervously as the beeping continued. Their hearts raced and their fingers trembled, they had no idea what was going on.
"I... I can help him" Crystal said, their necks snapped in the woman's direction
"You can?" they asked
"My generation heals, our skins mold back after a few minutes but it also meant we could heal others" Crystal said
"He was striked by the trident.. Just like Aqua was-"
"WHAT"
"Yeah... The King... Striked her twice" Allie whispered
"He's done it before?!"
"When she escaped Atlantis, he couldn't bare the thought of her leaving. So he striked her. He didn't care if she died, he just didn't want her to leave" Beverly mumbled
Crystal's hands gripped the sheets tightly, her jaw was clenced and her feet tapped the floor rapidly, clearly pissed at the thought of her husband doing something like that.
The woman walked over towards Adam, her eyes glanced at Allie and the red hair girl nodded, immediately knowing what to do.
Allie headed over to the door and locked it, not wanting any doctors or nurses to come in and see magic was literally happening.
Crystal's fingers brushed against the boy's cheek, a shy smile came across her lips. He seemed so peaceful during his sleep, but the terrible pain he was in was slowly fading as the machine continued to deep, his life draining slowly.
Crystal took a deep breath in, placing her palms flat on Adam's stomach, covering over the open wound that was bleeding. The energy of the cold air she breathed in ran through her lungs, icing out any warmth. The oxygen then reached her brain and eased her mind, her muscles relaxed as she inhaled deeply.
A small light beamed from the center of her palm, the brightness started to increase and she moved her soft palm over the boy's flesh, the light them beamed through her eyes, aiming directly to the wall.
"Hmm" Adam stirred around in bed, the girl's leaned closer to see what was going on
Crystal removed her hand from the boy's stomach and the beeping immediately halted. The girl's furrowed their brows and looked at each other, trying to figure out what was happening.
"Where the hell am I!" A voice rang through the room
"Adam!" Allie squealed and ran over to the boy, her arms threw around his neck
"Now's not the time for hugs although I really like them, but Aqua's missing! Her dad too- WAIT, WHERE'S BEVERLY" Adam yelled
A soft chuckle filled the room as Beverly leaned up from her bed, her eyes immediately locked with Adam
"I'm here" She whispered
Adam's eyes went wide as he pulled the sheets off his body, pulling the IV's out his arms and dashing to the cold floor, running over towards Beverly.
"you're okay, you're okay!" he yelled, his arms hugged the girl tightly, a smile appeared on her lips when the boy started to tremble in her arms
"I'm okay" she whispered
"b-but Aqua" he said. The room fell silent again, the silence was answer enough
"She's still gone" Beverly whispered
Her heart felt like darts were being tossed at it, boring at her senses and choking her in the process. Her stomach churned and the sadness sweeped through her veins, taking over the anger she felt and replacing it with heartbreak.
"Not for long" Crystal said, all eyes were turned to the woman's direction
Crystal stood tall, her chin up and determination in her eyes. She knew something needed to be done. Someone needed to right what was wrong and that someone was her.
Only she knew why the king acted the way he did. Only she knew how to make him come to his senses, so she knew what she had to do.
"I'm going to get Aquamarine back"

I took his hand and gasped at the delicious shockwaves traveling up my arm. He pulled me closer to him, so I was standing in between his legs. I wasn't sure what to say, so I ran my fingers through his hair, noticing for the first time the bits of red streaked through the dark brown, and smiled when he growled in delight. He leaned his forehead down, so it was resting on my belly and wrapped his arms around my back. "We should talk about this." He whispered with his head still on my stomach. I nearly didn't hear him. I was too focused on the sparks tingling through my arms as I caressed his back and continued my gentle assault through his hair."Ok. What should we talk about?" He took a deep breath and I watched as his shoulders slumped."I'll understand if you reject me. No one wants a defective mate."Cover made by @ViaAlyssaNicole
