Beverly's pov

"It's chaotic" I said

"How so?" Aqua asked

"Teammates are missing, one broke her leg and another is sick" I said

"What the- who the fuck is missing?" Aqua asked

"Two guys"

"Ugh I'm gonna kill them" she groaned

"It's okay" I mumbled, my head hung low

I felt a warm finger hook under my chin and pulled my face towards her own. Her green eyes pierced through mine, searching for any ounce of doubt.

"Don't you dare start doubting yourself, you were made for this. It's what you're passionate about, it's your first competition and yes it's not going the way you'd want it to but that's exactly how life is" Aqua said

I could feel my heart start to thump rapidly in my chest, our faces were so close, her lips hovered over mine but I was more focused on her words. The words I needed to hear all day.

"Life, It's unfair and predictable, we just need to take the curveballs it sends us and turn it into the best version of happiness we could think of" she said, a smile stretched across my lips

"You're a leader Beverly, you've overcome obstacles in your path before and this is just another that's sent to test you, test your strength mentally and emotionally. Don't let it win, don't you dare let this stop you from following your passion" She said

Where. The actual fuck, did I find this amazing, show stopping, incredible, caring, beautiful girl that manages to fill my heart and confidence? I really don't deserve her. But fuck y'all if you think you're gonna take her away

"You're literally the sweetest thing to exist in this world and I am head over heels in love with you, the way you think and the kindness of your heart. I love you" I whispered against her lips, Aqua giggled

"Oh you think I'm kind?" she asked

"Yes" I smiled

"When it comes to you, I'm far from sweet. Especially if someone's changing your mood and stressing you out" she said

"Oh really?" I chuckled

"Do you have their numbers?"

"Yes" I said

"Hand me your phone" Aqua said in a low voice, I furrowed my brows but pulled my phone from my pocket to give it to her

Aqua typed in my password and quickly went to the callers ID, I showed her their contacts and she quickly pressed in the their numbers before bringing the phone to her ear, fortunately their voices were loud enough so I could hear

"Hello?" the boy answered

"Chase Bart, 592 Valley way Avenue North California, you have three dogs and a father who hates that you do cheerleading. You know it's the best thing you've done but you're scared and want to please your father, well let me tell you something Chase. Now's not the time to feel pity, you're letting your school down, your captain, and you're letting yourself down from actually doing what you love. I know you live ten minutes away from here and the other missing member of the team is in your bed snuggled up to your side. I think you better get both your sorry gay assess over here right now or I won't hesitate to come over there and handle you myself. You're fucking with my girlfriend's confidence and I really don't like when she's upset, so what will it be Chase? Are you gonna come here or not?" Aqua asked

Okay daddy.

I blinked rapidly as the emotions washed from my face, unable to think or speak. My jaw hung low, threatening to fall to the floor, I was stunned to silence.

Aqua simply smiled and handed me my phone back.

"What?" she asked

"wha- I-I what the?" I tired to form words but failed, Aqua chuckled and shook her head

"Get back in there and get your team ready, Allie and I will do our best to buy you guys some time. Good luck baby" Aqua whispered, she leaned in and pecked my lips

Her hands gripped my shoulder and turned my body to face the direction of the locker room. With one shove, she pushed my body to walk towards to locker room, my feet took controlled as I smiled to myself.

Suddenly I felt a slap across my backside, I furrowed my brows and snapped my head around, only to see Aqua wink at me before she walked backwards with a smirk.

"Pervert" I yelled at her from across the room

"You have no evidence that I did anything!" she screamed, I giggled and ran towards the locker room

Aqua's confidence seemed to help me find mine once again. My eyes scanned the room to see the team pacing up and down, a few held their heads and tapped their feet rapidly while the rest bickered and yelled about what they should do next

"Guys" I said, their heads turned to face me

"I think I have a plan" I said

"What's that?" Elena asked as she approached us

"I know it's sudden but we have to change up the roles and the routine" I said

Instantly, a few mumbles and protests filled the room, confused or freaking out about my sudden change.

"Just, listen to me. Elena could take Isabel's spot, she's light enough and flexible. She'll be our ending, Chase and Mike are on their way here-"

"Give it up for our four year consecutive winners, Green Academy!" the announcer said through the speakers. GODDAMIT.

"But we're literally going up right now!" Someone yelled

I furrowed my brows and headed towards the door, my eyes scanned the room frantically for Aqua, where was that plan she was working on.

I then notice that Jackie and Allie were at the judges table, what the hell?

"I like a man with grey hair" Jackie said in a seductive voice as she swirled the hair of an elderly judge

"Oh-" the man blushed

"Who are you lying to? You're a lesbian, stop hiding it" Allie said to a female judge, the woman furrowed her brows but shook her head slowly.

Oh my God.

And then the power suddenly went out, cutting off any visible light within the auditorium. Thank you Aqua. I smiled and turned my attention back to my team who pulled their phones out to have on the torch

"Wait! WE'RE HERE WAIT!" a voice yelled, I glanced in the direction of the door to see the two missing boys

"You're late" I said and crossed my arms against my chest

"We know, we're sor-"

"I don't wanna hear anything right now, I don't know what was going through your head and I'm sure you have an excuse. But the fact is, you didn't think about your team and how it would cost us. Everyone in this room has worked hard for months, some for years, waking up early to train and going to bed late because they stayed up just to nail that routine, all for this day. And now it almost got thrown out the window, all of their energy, time and passion would be wasted because two team members didn't show up because they were scared of loosing" I hissed. Honestly, I don't know where this was coming from but it needed to be let out.

I'm not some soft girl to push around anymore, I'm the goddamn captain and the team was in shambles. It was my job to get them organized and hold them together. Even if that means being harsh. It was still factual.

"YEAH BEVERLY, SERVE IT TO THEMM" Someone yelled

"Woooooo" someone else scream, the tension in my muscles seemed to relax as I sighed loudly

"Just... Go sit and listen to the new plan" I said

"New plan?" they asked

"Yep. Isabel broke her leg since the two guys who substituted for the both of you, got sidetracked" I gritted, the boys held their head low and slowly made their way into a seat

"Damn, I've never been so turned on" A family voice said, I felt her arms snake around my stomach from behind and she rested her chin on my shoulder. I sighed into her embrace

I stood in front of my team with Aqua behind me, they didn't care at this point. They were accustomed to seeing her around me all of the time.

"Remember that first routine I drafted but scrapped it because it was too dangerous?" I asked, they nodded their head

"Well we're trying that" I said sternly, their eyes went wide

"Are you crazy?!" They hissed

"Maybe." I said

"We'll die out there"

"Just trust me on this okay?" I pleaded

"I swear to God if Geico insurance doesn't cover my funeral, I'll rage!" someone yelled

"That's car insurance!" someone else yelled. The room erupted in laughter, it eased the tension between everyone.

The team turned their attention towards me once again after their laughter died down

"I promise I won't let you guys down, just trust me on this one. We either walk out of here as a team with a national championship trophy or a team who went down with style. What do you say?" I asked

"I think... You're crazy as shit but I'm ready for all of the crazy shit. Hell yeah we're in!" someone yelled, I giggled and placed my hand out

"Hands in Aca bitches" I said, the team walked forward and held their hands on top of mine, forming a circle

"Sing Green Academy on three" I said

"On three or after three?" Elena said with a giggle

"One, two, three!"

"GREEN ACADEMY" we all screamed in unison

Suddenly, the power came back on. The auditorium was lit and the speakers started to work again

"Alright, pile out. Let's show these judges what we've got" I said, the team started to run out the door one by one

I sighed and turned my attention towards my girlfriend who will stood behind me

"You know, cutting the power off is cheating right?" I chuckled

"Good thing I didn't that" she smiled

"You didn't?" I asked

"Nope. There was actually a power outage, perfect timing right?" she laughed

"I'll say" I giggled

"Go out there and make me proud baby" She whispered, her lips pressed against mine for a quick peck, I smiled and headed out towards the door. Ready to face the challenge before us

My feet took control as I ran out onto the mat, the auditorium erupted in screams and deafening cheers from the audience. Their support made my heart swell in my chest, a smile stretched across my lips as I positioned myself at the front of the team as they formed a triangular line behind me.

"Ready? OKAY"

My hands held to the bottom for two seconds as the red and white pom pom in my hands shimmered under the lights, my hand then tossed into a 'V' formation before reaching back down low.

My legs were then spread, the music blasted through the speakers and we followed the routine, in the corner of my eyes I could see the three guys form their lines. Their legs sprinted forward and off they went, they then halted their moment, causing the lower part of their body to be tossed into the air, their toes pointed up and their arms wrapped around their stomach and they did a flip. They all landed on their feet in unison. I smiled and continued my moves.

Elena ran forward, the speed she built up was enough to successfully complete her move. The girl tossed her feet into the air, her head was tilted up and her hands gripped her pointed toes in the arm, she held it as long as she could before landing back onto the mat smoothly.

"Heck yeah, that's my GIRLLLL" Josie yelled from the crowd

I smiled and sprinted towards the back, my two arms were stretched out and I jumped into an angle, my palms pressed flat to the ground and my pointed feet stood still in the air for two seconds before I flipped and landed flat on my feet again.

"WOOOOOOH THAT'S MY GIRL, YEAH BEVERLY!" Aqua yelled from the stand, a smile stretched across my lips

"ARE YOU TRYING TO OUT CHEER ME RIGHT NOW?!" Josie yelled

"SHUT UP, MY GIRLFRIEND IS DESTROYING HER MOVES" Aqua yelled, the blush on my face was becoming visible

"Um, ladies... Please don't argue-" The announcer started to say

"DID YOU JUST ASSUME THEIR GENDERS?!" Allie yelled

"Oh.. Um-

"THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT, NOW SIT DOWN, SHUT UP AND FOCUS ON WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING" Allie yelled

To my surprise the announcer actually remained silent and sat back down into his seat. The crowd started to laugh at the interactions between the girls

Our routine went on for another minute, my heart pounded against my chest and adrenaline was coursing through every inch of me. My neck and forehead was covered in sweat. The finish was coming close.

I just hoped those two numbskulls don't drop Elena this time.

They gripped the bottom of her foot and and took a second before lifting the girl up, she stood on their hands with her hands stretched out in the air, the guys turned around so she rotated to the audience in a circle.

The crowd screamed and cheered for the girl, she smiled brightly. The guys then dipped and tossed the girl into the air, I could tell that she took a deep breath in.

Elena's arms clasped over her chest and her legs pressed together, her toes were pointed and her body twirled around in a fast pace, she spun in the middle the air.

She then pushed her knee forward when she reached mid air, her arms stretched wide above her head and her legs spread to match her upper body.

And with that, she landed safely into the boy's arms. I smiled widely knowing we hit every inch of that routine perfectly. The crowd stood to their feet and clapped.

"GIVE THEM THEIR GODDAMN MEDAL RIGHT NOW" Adam yelled from the stands. Wait, Adam?

I furrowed my brows at Aqua who she playfully rolled her eyes. I chuckled at the girl and returned my attention towards the team

"Give it up for Green Academy with that awesome performance. I have to tell you, this school never fails to impress me" the announcer said

"THAT'S BECAUSE MY GIRLFRIEND ATTENDS THERE!" Aqua yelled

"Alright folks, we'll give the judges some time to think things over before we make a final decision on the winner" the announcer said

Ugh dammit, now we have to wait a whole ass chapter until we find out who wins
