Beverly's pov
-
With the cheers came fists in the air and my eyes flung wide. I was electrified, awake, soaring to new heights of emotion.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked
"Come over here Beverly" The girl said, I felt all eyes on me
I furrowed my brows but stood from my seat, deafening cheers and whistles erupted through the gym. The students clapped loudly as I approached the captain.
"Is this a mistake?" I whispered to Elena
"No, we all decided that you were really good" she giggled
"What the?"
"Beverly Hills, although you only tried out to be a cheerleader. The team and I decided that with your fast thinking of pulling off a routine and your quick pace that you should be given the chance to lead our team to victory for the rest of the year with Elena as your Co Captain" the girl said
"This is a joke right? Did Aqua put you up to this?" I glared at the girl
"I know it came as a shock but it's real. Elena and I spoke for hours and she explained everything, the moment I found out that you're a direct descendant of Aelia Green. Well, it was the final nail in the coffin" she girl chuckled
"I- I don't know what to say" I said
"You don't have to say anything, well you have to say of you accept or not but besides that, nothing" the girl smiled
"I- Are you okay with this?" I asked Elena
"Are you kidding me? You were born to lead this team Bev, I'll be right beside you all the way" She smiled sweetly, I sighed and turned to face the captain
The eyes of everyone still rested on me. My heart pounded against my chest as I took deep breaths. Beverly Hills, captain of the cheer team. Ah it had a ring to it.
A smile pulled across my lips and my eyes locked with the girl. This was what I wanted, it's something I've always been captivated by and now I was responsible for the team.

"I accept"
The cheers erupted like an auditory volcano. The cheers are like a faulty firework, slow to start and rising to a weak explosion before petering out completely. Silent. Nervous.
"I now announce Beverly Hills, Captain of the Green Academy's Cheer team" the girl yelled out.
It was all quiet one second and then deafening the next, rising to a crescendo and then falling to a trickle before the same nervous tension commanded silence once more.
Happiness is in the moment, the more focused the more intense, like a beam of light to the soul. And just as with well focused light, it is then we find better resolution.
So shall it stay put, a smile eternally stained upon my lips. My joy, my love, my laughter, my cheer. All will reach the ears of those who have forgotten the warmth of such harmonies. I will share it all.
"Do I get a crown?" I chuckled
"No but you receive a uniform" the girl smiled
"As the new captain, it's your duty to announce the new members of the team"
Elena stood beside me as she handed me a notepad with a few names on it
"Mike Chang?" I asked, a cheer erupted from the bleachers as a boy stood up and clapped, I smiled at him as he made his way over to us
"Tina Abrhams?" I said, a raven black hair girl stood up and ran towards us
"Brittney Lopez?" I asked, a tall blonde girl ran to the stage, joining the new comers
"Quin Berry?" another girl joined the stage
"Aurora Michaels"
"Zade Jackson"
"Isabel Graceffa"
"And finally, Harry Musk" I smiled sweetly, the few students stood beneath us with wide smiles
"Welcome to the team guys, congratulations" I squealed
"Congratulations to you too" they said
"Practice starts after school at 3pm sharp, your uniforms will be delivered to your classes" I said, the all nodded before piling out of the gym
"It's narcissistic but it's also a tradition we like to do, it builds their confidence and makes them feel a little powerful" the previous captain chuckled

"I think it's sweet" I smiled
"Anyways, everyone to class. I have a school to attend" the girl said
"Leaving so soon?" I asked
"Elena will show you anything you need to know. I have a car waiting on me outside, adios my loves. I'll forever miss you all, see you guys at graduation" the girl smiled before stepping off the stage, she disappeared behind the gym door
I sighed and spun on my heels to come face to face with Elena, the girl had a wide smile. Her cheeks looked as if they wanted to explode
"Caught you by surprise didn't we?" she chuckled
"That's an understatement"
"I'm sorry, but they forced me to keep it from you" she said before hooking her arm with mine and heading towards the exit
"I get it, I really go" I chuckled
"It's what I've dreamt of"
"I know you're gonna be great, don't be shy to correct anyone if they're doing something you don't like and most importantly-"
"Yes?" I asked
"Have fun" she smiled
"Can you believe it?" I chuckled
"That's unbelievable, I'm so proud of you Beverly" Aqua said on the other end of the phone
"Thank you, the feeling still isn't settling yet"
"Live in each moment of the adrenaline" she said
"So are you gonna tell me how the heck you ended up with a phone?" I asked
"My boss gave it to me to keep in contact with her, I asked Allie for your number and I called you"
"Wait. Boss?" I asked
"It's a long story, I'll explain when I get home" she laughed
"You better" I said, my hands pushed open the lockroom and was immediately met with half naked girls chattering
"I have to start practicing now, I'll see you later" I said
"Sure. Bye Beverly"
"Bye baby" I smirked
"Wait wha-" and with that, I hung up. I laughed as I placed the phone onto my pocket
Elena's eyes met mine and she waved for me to join her on the bench.
"I have something for you" she said
"What's that?" I asked, the girl held my shoulders and turned my body to face the opposite direction
My eyes immediately landed on the rest of the team, the girl's smile as she formed a line.
"Your first Cheerleading uniform" Elena said
A girl stepped forward as she held a red and white uniform in her hands with the Green Academy's logo printed across the front.
My fingers brushed against the soft fabric as my heart fluttered, everyone was being so sweet. This is definitely a dream
"Thank you all so much, I really don't know what to say"
"Don't say anything, we understand" someone said
"It was a shock, but you really do have potential Beverly, that's why we voted you in" another girl said. I swear, the tears were filled in my eyes
"God, you're gonna make me cry" I chuckled
"That's okay, we don't judge" someone laughed
"Ugh, pile in" Elena said
"What? noooo" I squealed when the thirty students slowly approached me with open arms, they all clung to me and hugged my body tightly.
"Ugh, worse. Group. Hug. Ever" I playfully groaned
"Shut up, you'll get accustomed to it"
"Yeah I will" I said giggling
"Alright, let's start practice"
The group separated and they quickly slipped into their uniforms. I did the same and we all went out into the gym, the boys were already stretching
"What should we try first?" a guy asked as we approached them
"The competition is in three months right?" I asked, the group nodded
"Last year we barley won by one single point, it was a great routine but it lacked something" I said
"What's that?" Elena asked
"Most of the routine was done on the floor, when people think of cheerleading they think of girl's being tossed in the air" I said, the girl's nodded in agreement
"This time, we'll give them what they want and more"
