That day, I managed to return home without getting confronted by Carter or his buddies. Although I expected him to catch me from the backside but I was happy that he didn't. It was a little surprising because they never spare a single chance they have, to bully me.

It more felt like he purposefully did that and that made me curious to know why. Why was he willing to let me go without my 'lesson'? I, for a fact knew that he didn't forget it that day. Even if he did, his so called buddies would've reminded him, but none of them chased after me. Maybe they had some important work to do? Yeah that must be the reason.

Or maybe, they are planning to punish me harder for this action when I see them again? I hope this does not happen. It was all because of that freaking website. It wouldn't have advised me to ignore them and this wouldn't have happened.

With all this on my mind, there was a huge pile of homework from school was waiting for me. I managed to complete it till the evening. I'm just fast like that. I just need concentration, concentration and concentration. Yeah, that's all I need.

With my work done, I went downstairs to Rebecca. "Hello Rebecca!" I said cheerfully, grabbing a carrot from the basket and biting it.

"Oh, hi sweetheart! When you didn't come till later, I thought you might be having lunch with your friends?"

I remembered that I was going to have lunch with my friends that day but I just didn't want to go to the library. What did you think? That I had real friends? If you thought then, I'm so sorry to tell you that the friends I referred to were just volume of pages sewn together for giving company to people like me.

Of course Rebecca didn't know that I had lunch in the library. Everytime I told her that I was going to have lunch with my friends, I went to the library. That wasn't a lie, was it? I actually have lunch with my friends. My lovely books. That I value more than anything.

Wait, my glasses too. Because I can't see clear without them.

"Yeah, but I was tired so I just came home. Do you have some snack? Chips, ice cream, anything?" I asked her stretching my hands a little. That's really relaxing, I'm telling you.

"Luckily, we have both!" Rebecca sounded, making me smile.

"Yay! That's great. Could you please take them out in two bowls? I'm going to Josh."

"Of course, dear."

I went downstairs to Josh's room. If you are wondering then yes, I have a huge house. A very huge one! Josh's room is on the first floor. On the second floor is my parent's bedroom. Also the staff lives there, accept for Rebecca. She live on the third floor with me. There is a living room, a kitchen, a dinning hall, a guest's room and two spare rooms on every floor.

My house is huge and creepy.......

I knocked on Josh's room's door. "Come in.... Oh hi Sophie!" Josh was doing his homework. His head jerked up as he smiled at me.

"Hey Josh! Do you want to have ice cream?" I asked.

"Are you taking me out? I'll eat Oreo ice cream okay?" He asked, while closing his books and piling them together. As if he was just waiting for me to tell him to close his homework.

"No Josh. I was just feeling hungry and Rebecca told me we had ice cream so... do you want it?"

"Obviously! Why do you even ask?" He joked.

"Then how would you know that I'm eating it in the first place?"

"Umm..... I was just joking. Forget it. It slipped my mind that you don't understand jokes."

I rolled my eyes at his statement. Sure he is eight but he acts as if he's eighteen.

We started walking upstairs. "So how are you feeling now?" Josh continued.

"Better than last week." I told him, giggling. I did feel a little pain where the guys had punched me but other than that I was fine. Oh yeah, my wrist. How can I forget that? It pained like a bitch. I thank lord it was on the left hand because I'm a righty.

We sat in the living room eating strawberry ice cream, while watching spongebob. "I can't believe I, Joshua Anderson, is eating this girly stuff!" He said abruptly, referring to the ice cream. Did I tell you, my brother is extremely dramatic?

"You can leave it if you don't want to eat it. I'll be more than happy to have another bowl of this girly stuff." I told him, plopping a spoonful of the girly stuff-ice-cream in my mouth.

Guys like strawberry flavour too, don't they?

"No, no. Thanks for the offer but no. I'm gonna eat it myself."

Drama queen!

Rebecca entered the room and sat beside me on the sofa with a bowl of ice cream in her hands. "What took you so long?"

"Oh, I was busy making the dinner. Stella left early today as she wasn't feeling well," she explained. Stella was our cook. And she, was the best cook in this whole world. Rebecca on the other hand was her opposite. "Oh, hope she gets well soon," I whispered.

"So that means we'll have to eat burnt food today?" Echoed, Josh's voice.

Dramatic but true.

"That was one time Josh! And don't eat if you don't want to, but don't say mean things about my cooking okay? I may not cook as good as Stella but I can cook well. You are always welcome to order from any restaurant. Look at your sister, learn from her. She loves my cooking and she will eat it, right Sophia?" She asked, looking at me hopefully.

I gulped and nodded, unwillingly. From the corner of my eye I saw Josh, holding back a laughter. "Rebecca I think-," I started, but she didn't let me complete.

"Did you see Josh! Now, no matter how much you beg for my food, I won't give it to you. It's all mine!" "And Sophia's," she added, smiling at me and I had to give her a forced smile back.

"Hahahahahahaha! You-are so fun-ny Rebehhcca!" Josh let out between his laughter. "Beg? For your food? Ahahahaha! You're good at cracking jokes."

Tonight is going to be a disaster.

I made a new law for myself.

It was a very strict law. Go to school late! Yeah late. So that I don't cross paths with any of the bullies. And that law worked fine with me. I reached school at 7:35 when our class starts at 7:30. There was no interruption at all. I took out my books and went directly to my chemistry class. Though I'm a nerd but I hate chemistry. Most of the part is played by my lovely chemistry teacher.

As soon as I entered everyone gasped. I didn't understand why, at first.

You are a nerd Sophie. You aren't supposed to be late. Oh yeah! Nerds don't come late.

"Can I ask the reason for your late arrival Miss Anderson?" Mr Wilson asked.

"Of course, Sir! Can I explain it to you after class?" He nodded and I was saved from embarrassment.

You should've thought about some excuse too Sophie!

There was no seat left at the front so I went at the back. It's a rule in his class that no seat was to be left in the middle and every seat from the front should be occupied. I noticed the seat beside me was empty and I was glad to have it empty instead of some non-nerdy guy or girl sitting on it. Bullying, remember?

Mr Wilson distributed us the worksheets and I started to solve it when the door opened causing everyone to pay attention to it. I didn't look up. It's the same everyday. I knew it was Carter. No one else in this school could be that reckless except for him.

For that moment I forgot the fact that there was only a single empty seat left and that was beside me but as soon as he graced the row with his presence I was reminded that. He sat beside me, throwing his books on the table.

Oh, so he did study something. "Sir, what question are we doing?" He asked.

"You would have known if you came on time! We aren't on any question. I gave them a worksheet to solve. Here, do it. I need this to be completed in this slot only." Mr Wilson handed him the worksheet.

It was so awkward sitting beside him and I couldn't concentrate on my work. Did I tell you, how much concentration is important to me?

Almost 15 minutes of the class had passed and I was still not completed yet. I couldn't concentrate when Carter was always either staring at me or at my work. Didn't he want to do his own?

I stood up from my chair and dragged it a bit far from where he was sitting before I started to do the questions very fast. A voice interrupted me, "Sir, Im done!" The voice I hate the most.

"Shit!" A squeaky whisper left my mouth, but I was sure Carter heard it. Because one, he wasn't doing anything and two, he has very sharp ears.

From the corner of my eye I saw him. He looked like an idiot with a pencil between his teeth. Yuck! I hate that habit. How can a person even write again with that pencil? And just then he started to write something. Ewwwwwww!

So, the guy from earlier was Isaac. Did I introduce him to you? No? It's good because you don't need to know. What you must know is that I hate him and he hates me too. Well, everyone hates me but I think he does more than everyone.

He is my direct competition, but I never let him win. I'm always done before him in every class. And today! Today because of this bloody Carter's bloody staring game, he won. He freaking broke my record.

I couldn't handle it and increased my speed by ten times. In 3 more minutes I was completed with all the questions. "Sir! I'm done too!" I shouted, while looking at Isaac. He was smirking. At least that's what I thought. He reckoned he looked good when actually, he looked like an idiot. He needs to learn how to smirk. I couldn't help but laugh at his pathetic attempts of smirking.

"Sir, I don't understand these," Carter said.

Mr.Wilson looked up from the papers he was checking. He looked around the room and his gaze settled upon me. He ordered, "help him." All I wanted to do at that time was shout a big 'NO!', but I didn't and nodded like a puppy.

Sometimes I question myself that why am I intelligent. If I wasn't, I clearly wouldn't be in such a situation.

Carter scooted his chair closer to me and smirked. Unfortunately, he knew how to smirk. But Isaac and his poor attempts of smirking made me giggle.

Carter raised his eyebrow at me but I didn't gave him a reaction. "So, how are you nerdy?" I didn't reply. I couldn't help but move my chair a bit farther from his. And then I realised what I had done. "Why do you keep dragging your chair away?" His irritated tone sounded and he came closer to me. I waited for a punch, a slap but none of them came.

Carter is a person, I can't figure out. I doubt anyone can. One minute he is getting super friendly, the other he is such an intimidating person leading people to pee in their pants.

When I opened my eyes, I saw him examining my face with an 'I-think-you-are-crazy' look. I kept my distance and passed my worksheet to him. I couldn't explain it to him.

Here I couldn't make out my words in front of him and the teacher wanted me to explain to him. Taking my worksheet, he started jotting down the answers. He looked utterly furious and I didn't have any idea why. He was writing with such a hard grip I bet the paper would have been torn from some places. It was as if he wanted to say something but he wasn't and he was taking his anger out on the poor paper.

The bell rang and I left the room as quickly as possible, hoping that there'll be no such drama the rest of the day. Oh shit I need to explain my reason for coming late to Mr.Wilson. Come on brain make something quickly.
