《Soul Bonded [Claude De Alger Obelia x reader ]》17. Something's Fishy

You sighed as you finished reading the letters from Diana. You brushed back Ether's soft fluffy fur as he purred.

You sat on the roof, gazing idly at the clouds. It was quite hard to climb up the slick structure almost falling to your death. But having a magical cat have it's own advantages.

You looked down at the letters, reminiscing about the past. Three years. You can't believe it's been three years since you came here. Life has been quite boring, if not mundane.

You missed Diana who's been traveling around with her Mother. The letters came less frequently and in time gap. Since you couldn't write her -- courtesy of your new family -- she did. But at least she found time to write as she was busy becoming a functional citizen contradictory to you. To be honest you were quite jealous. Of her freedom. Of her free soul. Of her free will.

Here you were thrown into a family completely foreign to you and trapped in one place while dreaming of exploring the world filled with magic and mysteries.

Mystery like the adorable golden hamster,ahem you mean the boy with the most unique sapphire eyes who had appeared out of nowhere and was gone jsut as mysteriously. He didn't spontaneously appeared again. You were quite disappointed. You had taken a liking to the easily flustered boy. Oh well, it was no use crying over it.

With the family problems you can't even go looking for him. Chances were really low you'd find him but still. It was getting annoying to not be able to do anything freely without someone breathing down your neck. Heck, you couldn't even go out of your room because of all the assassin attempts. Paranoia and anxiety made the parents overly protective. And suffocatingly controlling. Though you understood the reasons you couldn't help be bitter about it.

Poor Lord Lionel, his hairs are greying faster than leaves falling in autumn.

Being coped up all the time was making you unease. Not to say that you were a outgoing person. One could sum up you in few words and describe you properly as : an introvert who had her extrovert moments.

The problem was you weren't having the moment and it was getting on your nerve.

"Just you wait! When I become of age I'll travel the whole world. Explore the unseen! Find the treasury of the fantasy world! Befriend the magical beasts. I won't be chained here forever!!" You shouted at the sky as if it was at fault for your house arrest.

Ether eyed you with the look that seem to say, 'You might have some loose screws and stupidity must be your middle name' all the while shaking his head.

"Hey! If you continue to judge me I'll leave you behind and go explore the world myself!" You said to the cat who was judging you whole existence. Hard.

"...Wait that may end up being punishment for the Judiths'" You sweat-dropped.

Your cat doesn't seem to be getting along with the family. He hasn't warmed up to them as you have. You had a feeling if you did leave behind the cat, he'd make the lives of others a living hell.

And people called your troublemaker.

You huffed. You stood up carefully as you took a lady glimpse at the beautiful azure sky before requesting the cat to get you down.

In a blink you feet connected to the ground with your cat resting on your head. You leave him be. You remembered last time you had tried to get him off he almost had made go bald with how much strength he held on with.

"Hmm. Let's check on the herbs." You said to yourself as you made your way to the garden. You have been using your Momma's journal to grow your skill in herbs and pharmacy. It was the least you could do since that's what she wanted.

You squatted down to see yellow lilac flower slowly growing from the moist ground. Perfect. You had doubts that Algrio a specific herb used for headache and nausea which grew in Almaya would be able to grow here in the capital but seem like you were worrying over nothing.

Your proud moment was cut short when you saw holes on the flower bed. You squinted and let out a gasp when a worm squirmed out.

No way! My plants are infested?!

Shocked you stared down at the worm who seem to be staring back to you. Your eyes twitched when it causally went back to its burrow.

Oh, you got to be kidding me..

You hadn't spent all the hard work for a measly worm to eat it away.

Time for emergency. Anti- crawlies Y/n strikes back!

Almost as if hearing your thoughts pair of gloves and a bucket materialised beside you. You nodded your thanks before getting to work.

"I won't forgive you for such atrocious crime. Daring to prey on my herbs? You messed with wrong person now you all have hell to pay, you icky slimy bastards!!"

You completely ignored you exasperated cat and started plucking out the worms and throwing them to collect in the bucket.

Almost done, you capture the last worm. "Hah! You are the last of the enemy, you weakling." The worm squirmed. "Accept your defeat, you slimy foe. I ain't the one to show mercy!"

The instant the worm went still and you panicked.

"Wah?! Did I just killed it?! No, I don't want to be a murderer!!" You shook the worm. "No, no don't die. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! Worm-chan!!"

You almost pleaded when a cough scared the daylights out of you.

"Fuck!!" You whirred around only to find a very grumpy and upset Rosalia glaring down at you.

And at that moment you knew you...fudged up.

The next ten minutes went in reprimanding while you grimaced and shrank away. But something very funny happened. When you showed her the worm in your hand, she shrank back letting out a very unladylike shriek.

Rosalia paled at the sight of the worm. Almost freaked out.

What you didn't expected was your prankster cat to mess with her and her to... faint.

"Rosalia?!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You guiltily walked behind the pale Etiquette enforcer Rosalia. She literally just straight up ignored that she fainted. Calmly asking you to follow her.
Can fear cause amnesia...?
You sure hope so. Because the Rosalia you knew would've throttled you for making a fool of her.
But you knew that was all but your wish because every time you came a foot near her, she'd jump and increase her pace.
Great, you just traumatised her for life.
Now she's not only afraid of Evil Ether -- as they call him -- but of you too.
Fantastic. Just freaking fantastic.
You sure hope she wouldn't start calling you witch and order her father to burn you on stake. Yikes.
The awkward silence continued as you made your way into the Study room.
You wondered why Lord Lionel asked for you along with the family members.
They weren't planning on kicking you out, right?.....You wouldn't blame them with all the trouble you caused.
You quietly entered the room. Instantly the hair on your neck stood up sensing the tension in the atmosphere.
"How did the information leaked out..? Do we have a mole in our household?" Lionel's creepy muttering didn't helped the case who anxiously ran a hand through his hair, messing it up.
Something was fishy..
...Maybe it's Ether's breath. from last night fiasco.
No, no one went to the kitchen to grab midnight snack and Ether definitely not ate all the expensive fish.
And you absolutely did not scared the maids half to death and knocked them out cold in fear of them busting you out.
You absolutely, definitely did not made the maids paranoid of the Midnight Ghost who haunted the kitchen. Every night.
Yep, definitely not.
...Anyways.
Seriously something was off.
Penelope glared at you. Here you thought you both were past 'I hate you' glare.
While your mother refused to look at you. Opting to drink tea instead and glare at the cookies as if they were monster.
Good thing is you were not the only one confused and clueless, Rosalia too looked confused as she had came to the room same time as you.
Lionel paused, turning around to look at us. No, at you. He stared at you with mix emotions before declaring.
"The king has commanded our presence."
That alone statement sent a chill down your spine.
And next thing you know you were whisked away and carried off into the heavily guarded gates of the majestic palace while your mind was processing the words and coming off blank.
You were currently sitting in the Waiting Room as your father went in to converse with the king in the Audience room.
You blinked, mind blank. Just what the living hell happened? You hadn't even processed the information when you found yourself staring the intricate pristine white pillar of the hallway just as exquisite as the painting decorating the walls.
Why the hell does the king want from you....?
