《KATANA ~ a MHA fanfic》Chapter 46 - Her hero

"So he was right... it was you who tried to kill him." the ash blonde said and took a step closer, but stopped when she reached for her sword again.
"The one and only."
My body wouldn't move and I couldn't get a single word out. So the only thing I could do was see. See how my best friend of my whole life, had turned into someone else. See the blood of my peers over her clothes and sword in her hand.
How could she have done this? No... it wasn't her. It couldn't be. I was with her just a few days ago...
But the look in her eyes told me everything I needed to know. They were empty, and not full of love and life like they once were.
I wanted to scream. Has it always been her? From last year? I have so many questions, but the dead bodies of my friends wouldn't allow me to ask them.

"Z-Zella... were you the mysterious girl from last year? Who helped the three of us?" Shoto spoke.
"I wouldn't say that we helped you. We used you to get closer to what we wanted."
Dynamight looked up in disbelief. He had just realised it as well. And the fact that she's been that close to them this whole time made them feel like failures.
Like they could've saved her and their friends.
"What's going on with you? First you come back and give us all a little hope, then you run away and kill a bunch of us?" Shoto said as he gritted his teeth, trying to not break down.
"Please tell me you didn't do this, Micky!" the purple eyed pro cried out.
She looked him straight in the eye, and just then, every hero on that rooftop got in a fighting stance. Katana was in her assassin mode, where nobody would stop her. But these heroes looked strong.
"How will I do this... hm."
Her white lightning surrounded her whole body as she ran at full speed towards them. She didn't even notice the police officers and detectives behind the heroes. But when she did, she went for them first.

Living up to her name, Scarlet sword, she stabbed them one by one. The pros were frozen in place by the sight. Not only because of watching someone kill another person, but because it was her killing them.
It all happened so fast.
But when she looked up again, with their blood all over her clothes, something snapped in them. They leaped towards her to attack, and she activated her quirks in return. Shotos ice kept her on her feet, Shinsos scarves looked for her arms and Dynamight chased her around.
"Fuck fuck fuck. They'll catch up eventually..."
And as if on cue, a purple fog appeared to her left and out of it walked none other than her green eyed sister, staffs in her hands. She went to attack the half-hot half-cold quirk user, but she also froze in place when she saw the look on her sisters face.
"K-Katana! Stop, it's enough-"
And there she was, repeatedly stabbing the brainwash hero. Right in his chest. Way more than she needed to. It was clear that there was something way bigger going on in her head and she took out all of her frustration that way.
Anna grabbed the white haired girl and dragged her away from the dead body. Her blue eyes looked straight into hers with only pain behind them.
"A-Anna... I didn't want to do this. I didn't WANT this..." she was panicking.
"I know, I know... Did you get the green haired one?"
"No... I'm sure he's long gone by now."
"Wrong." a voice behind them said.
His green eyes met blue ones straight away as he slowly walked towards them. He had a hand over his side, where he was bandaged up. The other, he held out like she was going to take it.
Like she once did, the day they met as kids.
"I-I don't know what's going on with you... but you're clearly not fine. What's been going on these last couple of weeks, Zel?"
She stood up and her emotions took over her body. Anna understood that and kept her in place, as much as she wanted him killed.

"...I just need..."
"You need to come home... again."
"Again with this 'again' shit! I've never been fucking home, so STOP saying I have!"
"Wh-what are you taking about? Eris quirk worked on you and you spent a whole night with all of us... your fri- family..."
"It... worked?" her voice was shaky.
"You remembered..." Dynamight spoke and stepped closer to the girls.
"Please, tell us. What happened that morning after?"
Katana looked to her sister who just nodded, signalling that it was okay. Anna was honestly afraid at this moment. Her sister was going crazy right in front of her.
"I... I don't know. I don't remember anything that happened after that little girl was in my room..."
"So it faded away..." Deku mumbled to himself.
"Why did you kill all of... all of our friends?" Dynamight said with a slight voice crack. He couldn't bare seeing their dead bodies, so he looked up as a way to also keep his tears from falling.
"I didn't want to... I was just going to kill Deku..."
"Why did you want to kill me?"
"Again, I didn't want to. I had to... I didn't have a choice."
"YOU DID HAVE A CHOICE, ZELLA! Everyone... has a choice." Shotos voice became quiet and desperate at the end, bending down to hold his purple eyed friend in his arms. Tears were starting to escape everyone's eyes. Even Annas.
"N-not me... I didn't choose to get kidnapped. I didn't choose to get my quirk taken away from me. I didn't choose for the heroes to fail me. AND I DIDNT CHOOSE THE LIFE I GOT."
"You CHOSE to run away from us! You could've-"
"Are you even listening to yourself? I don't know ANYTHING about myself! And even after I remembered, I forgot again. It just wasn't meant to be..."
She ripped her arms away from Anna and stood up straight, holding her katana tightly. She bit her lower lip to stop herself from crying.
"And I'm sick and tired of you thinking I'm someone you know, when she's far in the past. So hate me now. Call me a villain. I don't care."
Taking a step forward, she looked straight into the eyes of the green haired pro who looked so lost and heartbroken.
"But we're here for you now. We can fix this! We can fix you..." Dynamight cried out.
"You can't fix someone who doesn't want to be fixed..."
Then up to the sky, even more heroes, police and rescue teams flew in by helicopters.
"DROP YOUR WEAPONS!" someone shouted out through a megaphone.
The white haired assassin looked around and they were cornered. There was no way she could get to him or even escape. She dropped to her knees with tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Kat... we have to get out of here." Anna tugged her sisters arm but she wouldn't budge. She was staring into nothing as more and more people surrounded them.
"I'm sorry, Anastasia..." she said almost whispering, gripping onto her katana even tighter.
"I guess this is what he meant by strong... cause he wasn't strong alone. I get it now... he had so many people right behind him, heroes. All ready to defend him and save the person in need." her eyes met his green ones as she lifted her sword up.
She was tired. Tired of not knowing anything. Tired of the universe not being on her side. Tired of bad luck. Tired of this life. She looked at the three once happy heroes-in-training in their eyes one last time. And they just watched, there was nothing they could do. Just like last time.
They couldn't save her. Not even from herself.
"... And I'm sorry you couldn't be that for me."
And that was when the whole city heard the painful cries and screams of pro heroes who lost everything, found it, but lost it again.
"No... I failed a second time... I promised..."
Heroes who could save everyone but the girl they loved.

Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?
