《KATANA ~ a MHA fanfic》Chapter 44 - 1001

Katana woke up to the neighbours fighting. It was time for her to get up anyways, so she groaned and dealt with it.
The white haired girl ate and got ready. But only after taking a few steps outside the building, she was stopped. She wasn't even wearing her hood and mask, so the person almost looked shocked when their eyes met hers. Almost.
"Can I help you?" she asked and held a hand on her katana.
"Hm. Still as feisty I see."
"I don't know you, now move out of my way." she went around him but stopped when she felt his hand on her wrist.
"I'm not gonna fight you, but you need to listen..."
"Let. Go." she tugged her hand away but somehow he stood in front of her now.
Just as she was going to draw her sword out, he grabbed both of her arms and pushed her against the wall of the building. He was stronger than her, and she didn't have any quirks to use except her lightning. But she didn't think it was smart to use it now, energy was needed.
"Stop fighting, I'm not going to hurt you if you listen." his deep and raspy voice made Katana stop and look at him, trying to see if she recognised the man.
He tilted his head up a little bit after she stopped fighting. But he still stood very, very close to her. The morning sunlight hit his eyes, showing the bright, turquoise colour.
"I know you... you used to be part of the league of villains."
"That's correct. Key words; used to be."
"What do you want from me, Dabi?"
"I'm glad to hear that you remember, snow. But I'm the one who's asking questions."
She rolled her eyes at him but listened to what he had to say.
"What are you doing running around, trying to kill heroes? Not that I'm against it... but that's not what you used to do."

"Used to- oh... You're mistaking me for someone else."
He trailed his fingers up her arms, sending shivers down her spine. He moved one of his hands to tilt her head up by her chin. His thumb gently pulling down her lower lip, making her nervous even though she wasn't the type to get nervous like this. All while maintaining eye contact.
"I know exactly who you are, Zella Mikio." he said in a low voice, almost whispering.
The blue eyed girl snapped out of it and slapped his hands away while standing up straighter.
"Tell me what you want now, or I won't hesitate to kill you."
"You won't kill me." he chuckled darkly and backed up a bit before speaking again.
"I have a question. What do you even know about me?"
"Nothing. I only know you as someone who knows the people I was after."
"Oh, so you don't remember me saving your life?"
This time, she stepped closer to him. She kept staring into his eyes with anger filling them.
"Saving my life? Do I look fucking saved to you?"
"You should be grateful. If it weren't for me, your ass would've been killed long before the big guy changed his mind."
"You should've let me die."
This made him pause, cause behind all that anger, was pain. A pain he knew all too well, but let go of a long time ago. But these wounds were still fresh to her, and it seemed like she was missing a lot. Like this wasn't her at all, just someone who looks like her.
"Tell me, what was the reason you wanted to kill that friend of yours?"
"Friend?"
"Oh, come on. You were the best of friends and now you act like it's nothing? Cold, and that's coming from me."
"What is this guy talking about?"
And then it hit him. Her confusion and how she was lost. He figured out that she didn't remember anything at all, and chuckled at the thought with a touch of pity.

"Whatever." he mumbled and turned his back to her.
"That's it?" she said and tugged his shoulder.
"I'll come find you after you've killed him." he simply said and disappeared.

Anna chained her father up in a cell. She didn't want to talk to him without her sister, so she anxiously waited for her return.
As she sat down on her bed, she pulled her phone out and called for Katana. Any update, anything. Just to know how things were going.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Kat. It's me. How's it going? Did you kill him?"
"The number one hero showed up and snatched me away right when I was about to stab his chest."
"Oh... and what now?"
"I... I don't know, Anna. Just like how I don't know anything. You know that guy with a fire quirk who used to be part of the league?"
"Yeah?"
"He stopped me just a minute ago to talk. But then he walked away like nothing happened, calling me cold for almost killing Deku."
"Why would it be cold? Coming from him?"
"Yeah, I know."
"You sound... sad?"
"I'm frustrated. I almost had him and now I have to go kill him while he's in a hospital bed. Now THAT is cold."
"I know now's not the time to play therapist but I don't think that's what's bothering you..."
Katana sighed.
"I think... I think that Deku guy used to mean a lot to me. He even said 'you came back, again.' I'm just so confused, Anna."
"Yeah, I understand. But please don't think too much of it. Go slice him up now when he least expects it and come home, alright?"
"Alright. I love you."
"I love you too. Stay safe."

Katana stood on the rooftop of a building opposite of the hospital. She took a deep breath before making her way down while slipping out of the assassin gear and only wearing a hoodie and tights. If she was going into a hospital, she couldn't look like she was going to kill someone.
She kept her katana close and tried to hide it to the best of her abilities. The hospital was too busy to notice her anyways.
"Oh, I'm sorry." a nurse said after she accidentally bumped into the assassin.
"No worries. I'm looking for my friend, Izuku Midoriya?"
"Oh, yeah. He got released just an hour ago."
"I see..." and with that, the white haired girl turned around to go back home.
She felt a lump in her throat as she heard those words. Cause all she heard was "you're one step further away from him now". As soon as she stepped outside of that hospital, tears streamed down her face and she broke down right on the side of the building.
"Why does everything keep going wrong? My life's a joke. One big joke."
She stood up, wiped her tears away and focused on the task at hand. There was no time for her to be feeling down.
She doesn't get to feel that way.

Nightfall arrived and the assassin had been hiding out all day to come up with a plan. It was also better to attack at night since she wouldn't be seen as easily.
She made her way to the hero's apartment and instead of kicking the door down, she simply unlocked it using a trick she'd learned a few years ago.
Once she was inside, she quietly went to find the bedroom. And there he was. Sleeping peacefully, holding his love close to him.
She couldn't help but feel an ounce of guilt. He didn't deserve to die this way, but she made a deal.
"He was just messing with me. There's no reason why I should feel bad. I've done this a thousand times before..."
And she had, so why was this time any different?

Apex Immortal: a LitRPG system rampage
"Across the multiverse where the contest for power is the only constant, only a handful have succeeded in reaching the ultimate heights of ascendency and gained the title Apex Immortal. Dominus is one of them, unsurpassed in overwhelming violence, feared across universes. Now, memories locked and stranded far away from everything he’d built, Dominus will face enemies that will challenge even his powers and discover that change is more difficult than destruction." I’ve been writing fiction on and off for the last decade and I’ve always wondered how a peak immortal (or an OP superhero) would single handedly conquer a world that mirrors our own in all of its complexity. As a politics nerd, this is my attempt at answering that question using Machiavelli’s “The Prince” as the primary playbook. The “monsters” are entire political systems with entrenched culture. Expect many versions of real world political systems (and cultures) to be on the hit list. The MC has to successfully institute regime and cultural change without engaging in wholesale genocide and causing the state to fail. Expect things to go wrong pretty quickly as escalating and cascading political and economic effects rapidly go out of control. Methods deployed are not for the faint hearted.
