《KATANA ~ a MHA fanfic》Chapter 33 - Just my luck

Shigaraki let go of the assassin and put his hands up. Katana took the chance to jump at him and slice the living daylights out of him, but he knew she would try to do that. He also knew that someone would stop her and he took the chance to disappear with the help of one of the villains quirks, taking Akito with him.
Anger filled Katanas veins as she held her swords out and began attacking the detective in front of her. She just lost a good chance to finally kill Shigaraki because of him.
She then felt something scratch her arm, drawing a little blood out. Even more annoyed now that she wasn't fast enough to dodge the red blurr, she ripped her sleeves off of her arms and wrapped them around her wound so that she wouldn't bleed out. She pulled her mask down, showing her white pearls as she gritted her teeth in anger.
She attacked the detective in front of her again, who desperately held his gun out. But with the help of Anna, who used her quirk on him, he started to lose balance. Katana stabbed him right in the gut. Her hood blew off because of her movement and nights wind.
She looked down at him as she watched him die, moonlight piercing her blue eyes. Everyone around her and her sister were speechless.
They couldn't believe what they were seeing. All frozen in place as they recognised the person in front of them, but couldn't quite place a finger on it since it was dark.
Katana took a deep breath and looked up.
"I'm done. Just, done."
She went ahead to grab Anna and leave, but a dart shot both of them in the neck. The white haired girl rolled her eyes and took it out.
"That's not going to work, you know."
But then the air turned to smoke, separating the sisters. Katana felt something swipe her legs then snake around them. She couldn't see what it was, but she was getting dragged away. So in an attempt to stay in place, she drove her swords into the ground and held onto them.

But whatever that was dragging her was stronger. The swords broke off and she struggled as it wrapped itself around her whole body now. She got pulled out of the smoke and saw that it was...
"An octopus?"
She followed the long tentacle with her eyes and it led to a dark haired young man with octopus fingers. Next to him was a knocked out Anna wrapped in familiar scarves. But it wasn't by the purple eyed hero, no. It was by another man with shaggy hair. He had glasses on and scarves around his neck.
"Think. THINK..."
She looked around to see any hero she recognised, who's quirk she could copy. Just to her luck, crimson eyes met hers as she scanned her surroundings. She smirked and blasted herself away from the tentacle, boosting up to the sky.
But it didn't take long for someone to knock her back down. As her back hit the ground, a blonde young man seemed to pop out of nowhere. Katana went ahead to try and grab his arm, but her hand went right through him. Because she was distracted, she didn't notice the pink fog surrounding her. And slowly, she was drifting off to sleep.

"...You knew that I was Zella Mikio all along and didn't do anything..."
My eyes shot wide open. Zella was down there? As soon as Ears repeated those words from what she could hear, my heart did a flip. 5 whole years later, she was back. It didn't make any sense. When the captain told us to move in I was in the front.
If it was her, I was never going to take my eyes off of her. Not ever again.
We all stood frozen because of the sight. How easily and smoothly she just killed that detective, it sent shivers down our spines.
But what really got me, was the way her hair blew in the wind, angry expression on her face when she pulled down her mask... when I saw her. That wasn't the girl I used to watch sunsets with.

What had she become?

I blinked my eyes open and found myself on a bed. I pulled the sheets off and looked out the window next to me, only to see that I'm several floors up and the sunrise. Smart of them to put me high up so that I can't jump out.
But that's not important right now. What's important is that I find Anna and get out of here.
But the room I was in was fairly small, not giving me a lot of options. Eventually, I gave up and thought the best thing to do was to wait for someone to come in and then use that opening.

She laid on her back and hadn't noticed until now that her arm was all patched up. But her focus on that quickly vanished as she heard the door creak.
In came a dog-headed man and a green haired one. She quickly stood up, but right behind them walked the scarf wearing man from before as his hair stood up and scarves wrapped themselves around her wrists.
In all honesty, she was tired from all of the nights events. Even if she wanted to, she couldn't fight back. In one night Katana had killed more villains than she'd ever done before, and fought extremely hard with her untrained quirk.
The white haired girl sat back down on the bed crisscrossed, back facing them.
"Zella..." she heard a voice say. The name triggered her.
"DON'T, call me that..."
"How are you feeling?"
She sat there silently, trying to gain as much energy as she could.
"My name is Kenji Tsuragamae, chief of police. Before bombarding you with questions, I'd just like to ask one thing. Why'd you become a villain instead of going home?"
All sorts of emotions came bubbling up and she turned around hastily and faced the three. The blue eyed assassin couldn't help the tears that escaped her eyes, running down her cheeks as she felt the pain of every single drop.
"Villain? You think that's the problem? I LOST everything because of him and the worst part is, I don't even know what I lost." Katana stood up and walked closer to them.
"Villain." she scoffed and looked the dog man in his eyes.
"The only reason you're calling me that is because you want to feel better about yourselves. The fact that you didn't save me, and failed as heroes is the reason you want me to look bad when in reality, you turned me into this."
She turned her back to them again and looked out the window. Footsteps were heard and the door opening. And as she heard it close, she broke down.
"These people were waiting for someone who's been dead for 5 years. And just to my luck, I'm stuck in her body. 'Villain'. When they see me, that's the girl they see. Not who she's become. Who she is now." Katana thought as the tears poured out.
"Who I am now."
Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder. The white haired girl didn't even move and fight him like she would have usually.
"Z-Zella? Earlier, you made it sound like you couldn't remember your name. So I brought someone who might be able to help you with that..." a voice said.
She turned around to yell at him for being in the room, but right before she did, he opened the door. A girl, about 11 years old, walked in. She had grey hair, beautiful red eyes and and a small horn on her forehead.
"You..."

One release per week [Hiatus in November due to NaNoWriMo] [Changed the Summary based on reader feedback. Thanks guys!] When Mitchel gets a birthday gift from his girlfriend Sandra - a pre-order version of the newest VR game, he is thrilled. Real-life graphics, full-body senses, and a mysterious world that nobody knows anything about seem like a great way to escape real-life for a few months or longer. Two days later, his dreams of a pleasant pastime are shattered. After meeting a rude welcome-NPC, getting a weak starting body, and having a near-death experience, he finds himself sleeping on the ground, cold and filthy. Unable to log-out, he now has frightening dreams where the tutorial-AI is walking around in his body plotting Earth's conquest. If that isn't enough, he slowly realizes that the game might not actually be a game but that he could very well be in another world. Can Mitchel find out what is going on and where Sandra is? Can he regain his own body, and would he still want to when all is said and done? [The Story] What this story is: A LitRPG, portal-like, slow-moving story with a protagonist who has to balance crafting and 'magic' to survive. The books have a pre-thought-out plot and finish. Also, the world is harsh, and things don't always go the MC's way. What it is not: A drama, romance, grimdark, although these elements might appear. I've had some feedback that the intro seems to set up a very rough life for the MC. There is a reason for this, and I hope you give it a try beyond the first few chapters. Do note, this is not an unreasonably harsh novel.

Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
