《KATANA ~ a MHA fanfic》Chapter 30 - Goodbyes

Katana woke up to the sound of birds chirping right outside her window. She stretched and walked to the kitchen, where Anna already was awake and cooking breakfast.
"Good morning."
"More like good afternoon, what are you cooking?"
"Your favourite." the black haired girl said smiling.
The blue eyed assassin walked over to her sister and helped prepare the food. After that, they talked about last nights events.
"So. About last night... it was eventful to say the least."
"I agree. But it's a good thing we escaped when we did."
The blue eyed girl paused before speaking. She let out a sigh and told her sister what was on her mind.
"Hey uhm, do you also have this weird feeling that we're supposed to be mad at someone, but can't quite remember who or why?"
"How do you always know what I'm thinking?"
They put down their empty plates and went to the couch. Both were grateful to have each other, despite everything. They were still two peas in a pod.
"I honestly couldn't care less about it after everything. I just want to go home. But I wanted to check if you felt it too."
"Yeah, me too. I'll call dad."
And just like that, the girls went to their jet to meet up with their father and the assassins who made it. He wasn't being weird at all, Annas leg was better and a good nights sleep seemed to have solved all of their problems.
But as the sun was setting over the city, it made Katana think of a rooftop where she would watch it last year. It wasn't too far away.
"Hey, dad?"
He turned around, just as he was about to go up the stairs of the jet.
"I have to do something really quick. I'll be back in half an hour max."

Without waiting for his response, she took off. A few minutes later, she was there.
Katana pulled down her mask and hood, taking in the cold air. She knew better than to go down to the other building, in case the angry ash blonde would be there. The suns orange colour calmed her down and she couldn't help but smile at the view. She hated this city but,
damn it was beautiful.
She pulled her mask up again and turned around while putting the hood on. As she looked up, blue eyes met hers. Hoping he didn't see her, she walked right past him.
"Zella."
Her feet stopped at the sound of her real name. She didn't turn around, but listened to him.
"I thought I'd find you up here. It used to be your favourite spot to watch the sunset... with Katsuki."
Her eyes fell to the ground, almost disappointed in herself for returning to the assassin life she has instead of going home to her family.
"They reopened your case again. But I don't think any police is going to bring you home. I know... knew you better than anyone. I mean, you're my sister..."
He walked up to face her, gently pulling down her mask and she pushed off her hood. Revealing the single tear that ran down her cheek to the sound of this boys pain.
"The only thing that's going to bring you home, is the people you care about. And since you said you couldn't remember anything, I thought I'd try and find you and show you what you meant to us..."
"I'm sorry, but I really have to go now. Please don't follow me."
He grabbed her wrist and tears ran down his face.
"No, please. Just a few pictures and videos. That's it." he said in a shaky voice.
She took a deep breath and tried her best not to cry. The assassin turned around and watched his phone.

"First, I'd like to show you this picture of you and Hitoshi as kids. Mom said you became close friends instantly." he smiled slightly and showed her the picture.
It was two small kids in a classroom. One with blinding white hair, and the other shaggy purple hair. He smiled only slightly, but hers was as bright as her hair.
Kai swiped his phone and played a video clip.
"And this is you holding me for the first time."
The video was the exact memory she remembered on the jet to Paris. His eyes were just as big and blue now.
"This is you, Hitoshi and your other friend, Izuku on your first day of middle school. Mom made you pose for a picture before you went in." he let out a small chuckle.
"This is us on that same day, you were tired but made time to play with me."
"And this is your 13th birthday..."
She couldn't help but feel more sad at the fact that he was taking a heartbreaking trip down memory lane for her sake, even though he didn't want to.
"And this... this is a video of your acceptance letter to U.A high."
"I AM HERE! Excellent work to everyone today. But you, young Mikio, worked flawlessly in villain points, already making you rank very high in the results! But we also counted something you didn't know of, rescue points! You showed great bravery saving that purple haired boy from the falling robot, giving you 35 points!"
Katana looked over to the crying teenage boy who watched All Might talk. He was so happy in the video...
"47 villain points and 35 rescue points, that means that you had 82 points in total, ranking you first place in the entrance exams! Congratulations Zella, you are now part of the heroes academia."
"Mom mom she got in!!!"
"I know, honey. And we couldn't be more proud!"
"I can't believe I got in! Let alone ranked first place..."
The video became shaky cause they all went in for a hug.
"Your aunt just texted, your cousin got accepted too!"
"Ugh I hope I don't get in the same class as him. I love Neito but he can be annoying."
Wholesome laughs filled the video and Kai paused it. He looked back to his sister and put his hand in hers, squeezing it tight.
"I can't stop you from leaving... but I want you to know that this is the girl we lost 5 years ago. You don't have to tell me everything, but could you maybe just explain what you're up to these days?"
"I... can't tell you. I'm sorry."
She brushed her hair out of her face and wiped her tears away. She looked straight into her crying brothers eyes and gave him the best smile she could give.
"You'll be fine, Kai. Forget about me and follow your dreams of becoming a hero..."
"But the main reason I want to be a hero is because of you!" he cried out.
She couldn't bear to see his face like this, she was breaking his heart while slowly breaking her own.
The white haired girl hugged him close. It took him no time to hug her back as he cried into her chest.
"Please... be fine." his voice cracked.
"I promise. Please, tell the police that if I wanted to be found, they would've found me a long time ago."
She let go of him, stroked his cheek with her thumb and walked away. Leaving him heartbroken on that rooftop as it was getting darker in the sky, but also in his life.
