《KATANA ~ a MHA fanfic》Chapter 29 - Guardian angel

Katana found her way back to the injured assassin who waited for her by the stairs. She put her sword back in and carried her sister on her back as she ran as fast as she could out of that place.
Soon, they found a few assassins gathered with their father in an nearby alley.
"Let's return home. It's too risky to stay in this city." he said and began to walk in the direction of their jet.
"No. We have multiple hideouts here, we should stay at least until Anna's okay and til you tell us what's been going on."
She didn't wait for her fathers answer and walked in the direction of one of the apartments they owned.

I limped to the kitchen and sat down on a chair as mrs Mikio got the bandages. As soon as she placed them on the table, I pulled the arrow out of my leg and quickly patched it up before I bled out.
I looked behind me to see Kai frozen in place. He looked horrified, though I'm not sure if it was because of the sudden attack on me or the fact that his dead sister showed up to his doorstep 5 years later.
"What just happened?"
I looked back at his mother and was about to answer, but in all honesty I didn't know what to say to her. All three of us are a little emotional right now, we were crying just a second ago.
Was someone playing with our heads like they did last year?
"I... don't know."
"It was real, right?" she cried out, tears running down like never before.
"It was her, r-right?"
"That girl was Zella... but she's changed." Kai suddenly spoke up.
We turned our heads to him as I continued to patch up my leg.
"We have to run after her!"
I stood up and limped over to him as fast as I could. I grabbed his arm and forced him to turn around.

"Kai. Calm down, let's go to the police station. It looks like this case is going to be reopened."
"I'll drive." mrs Mikio said and grabbed the car keys.
After about an hour of processing all of it, we drove and arrived at the police station. All three of us rushed to the front desk in the almost empty room.
As if on cue, a team of pro heroes and detectives walked out a door with the chief of police and police captain up front. Right behind them was Aizawa.
"Eraserhead! What's going on?"
"Shinso? What are you doing here?"
"I was looking for anyone who had anything to do with the Zella Mikio case last year. She uhm... arrived to their doorstep about an hour ago." I said and looked back at the white haired mother and son.
"What do you mean arrived at their doorstep? You know what- let's talk about this afterwards. Todoroki just called, we have his location!"
"That's great news, let me tag along."
"Are you sure you're in the right state to fight right now?"
I nodded determinedly and headed out the door with the others. I asked the Mikios to stay at the police station until we came back.
We raced to said location and found ourselves in a sketchy area. Instructions were given by the chief and captain as we headed in in teams. Since I didn't have my usual hero outfit, I was given a gun.
One of the detectives kicked down a door and me, Endeavour and a few other detectives were close behind.
Endeavour wanted to kick down every door in his way along the walls of the hallway, determined to find his son. But somehow most of the doors were already down. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise in an old building like this one.
After a few minutes, we could see a head poking out of one of the doors, Todorokis. We rushed to his side and Endevour carried him on his back.

"Go help the others. I'll get Shoto to safety."
All of us nodded and tried to find the others. But suddenly we all stopped running.
I looked down to the floor to see dead bodies of different wanted villains. Somebody had gotten to them before we did. I looked to Eraserhead who just shook his head.

Anna had passed out on the bed after Katana had taken care of her. They decided to stay in a different apartment from their father since there was a lot to process at the moment.
As the white haired girl stood in the shower, massaging her head of shampoo, she couldn't help but think about her old life.
What was it like?
She could only remember a few moments, but she knew nothing about herself. It was something she made peace with a long time ago, but lately it's been giving her some headaches.
Quite literally.
Suddenly, she felt dizzy. Angry and very much irritated, she threw the shampoo bottle to the floor knowing that another vision was coming in.
"This is getting old, this better be the last time I get it." she said to herself.
She braced herself for the pain and let the water run down her body.
"Todoroki? Hey there!"
"Mikio, how are you?"
"I'm great thank you, just out walking with my dog as you can see. What are you up to?" she giggled.
"I just thought I'd get some school work done better if I was outside." he smiled shyly.
"Oh, you need some help?"
"Actually, yes I do. I-If you don't mind."
"No problem! What's the question?"
"It's for our English essay. I don't know what to write in the ending."
"Oh, that essay. Okay so you see, the essay was about what we would like to be remembered as. And for many pages you've probably written about the legacy as a hero you'll be leaving behind. But what about after you've died?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you want people to be sad and eventually forget about you when you're gone because of all the pain it caused them? Or do you want them to look up to the sky, find the brightest star there and smile because it makes them think of you every time they spot it?"
"Huh, I never thought of it that way... Thank you."
"No problem, see you on Monday!"
And that was the last thing she heard before the vision ended. She held her arms over the sink, trying not to lose balance. She had been getting better at letting the pain flow through her, so she would hear her visions better.
But it meant that it would hurt a lot more, her head was still pounding. She quickly finished her shower and went to her bedroom. This apartment was bigger than the one they stayed in the last time, so she had her own room. It didn't take long for her to drift off to sleep.
"Todoroki, how are you holding up?" Aizawa asked his former student who was now lying in the hospital bed.
"Okay." he couldn't get any more words out since he had been beaten up quite badly. His injuries were almost fatal and he wanted to sleep but somehow he couldn't.
"Sorry to barge in like this, but the captain wants to know how you were able to call for help?"
Suddenly, tonight's events all came rushing back to the half cold half hot quirk user. He remembered how relieved he felt when he saw that it was a real phone, he felt as if a guardian angel handed him it, saving his life. If only he knew who it was.
"I... don't know. I was given a phone by someone who happened to find me there..."
"I see. Some detectives will swing by tomorrow to ask a few more questions, just a heads up. Get some rest."

A Comprehensive Guide for Alchemy
A guidebook designed for alchemists of every tier to help refine their craft and provide direction. Formed of countless recipes and techniques, developed over the ages by the collective knowledge of our study, this is a definite supplement material for any aspiring alchemist. This discusses not only the recipe itself, giving you instructions for each one, but directs you to things not to do in the recipe. It isn’t uncommon for starting alchemists to unknowingly make a small change, and before they know it… BOOM! For a relatively minor price you too purchase this guidebook and start working towards building up a proper base of knowledge in alchemy. Even those with considerable ability may learn a thing or two from this! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is purely a guidebook for alchemy in a magical world, and as such contains no story elements. The cultivation (and alchemical) tiers are not at all necessary to understand the book, but exist because in the context of the book it would be important. I'm more than happy to write up any alchemical ideas you've ever had, totally not using this as an excuse to reduce my creative thinking hours... Just PM the idea or post it as a comment in any chapter, with a bit of balancing there's pretty much no idea that can't be done! Hiatus while I focus on shorter stories for competitions
8 279Wolf's Oath Book 1: Oath Sworn
In Aralt ‘Wolf” syr Tremayne’s world, skyships sail above tidal extremes, crystal swords are Tuned, and the soul-touched inspire both awe and fear. Lian Kynsei’s arrival upends Aralt’s life, but there is nothing he can do about it. Oath-bound to Lian, the last of a priestly clan, he is now defender of the scion of a faith he no longer shares. But the boy Aralt once knew is gone. In his place is a reckless, traumatized teen who can light the sky on fire. The more they get reacquainted, the less Aralt likes him—and the feeling is mutual. As revenge against a common enemy boils in his blood, Aralt struggles to do his oath-sworn duty and secure sanctuary for the heir-apparent to a mystical dynasty. But instead of safety, every step brings them closer to danger: sky pirates, cannibals, and a relentless soulless scourge unleashed by their enemy are all intent on killing Lian—or worse. Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
