《《BFF》|| taekook ✔️》Chapter 77

Everyone just stood there, their jaws almost hitting the floor. Absolutely none of them knew how to deal with this situation and the huge heaps of information they had just received.

None of them moved a single limb, everyone was shocked out of their wits. The exposure of those crucial events made their skin crawl, literally. However, it hit Taehyung and his mother the hardest of them all.

The boy knew his father was a cruel and violent man but he wouldn't have expected him to be that messed up, not in his wildest dreams. So did Mrs. Kim who wanted nothing more than file a divorce right here, right now. She was fed up with being under her husband's control for all those insufferable years.

Watching the man leave, Mrs. Jeon suddenly had an idea, not wanting to grant him a way out that easily. Picking up something from the ground, she threw it right at the back of his head with all the strength she could muster. "You bastard! Because of you, Haena couldn't even graduate! I hope you have a horrible rest of your life!," she screamed. He did not budge.

Ironically, the object she had just thrown was one of the graduation caps lying on the floor from when the kids had thrown them just a few minutes ago. Strangely, it felt like way more time had passed than that. Like days or weeks had passed.

Seeing another graduation cap lying below his feet, Taehyung picked it up, feeling rage bubbling up in his veins. As the man kept walking, he did the same as Mrs. Jeon. He threw it at his father's head, his expression showing nothing but disappointment and anger. "I'm ashamed to call you my father! You're a demon, telling me I'm a disgrace but then you commit literal crimes and ruin a girl's life just because you can't handle rejection?! You're nothing but a stranger to me! Fuck you!," he shouted, feeling a hand on his lower back pat it softly.

Not a minute later, Jungkook retreated his hand from the blonde's lower back and did the same thing he did, grabbing a graduation cap from the floor and throwing it at Taehyung's father and slightly smirking as he saw it soar through the air, like an arrow. "You abused my boyfriend, you sick fuck! You hurt the love of my life and if murder was legal, I wouldn't hesitate to stab the shit out of you until the light leaves your eyes! I hope you get run over by a truck, have a nice time in America!"

Now also getting inspired, Yoongi and Yoonji picked up graduation caps from the floor aswell, doing the exact same thing while Mr. Kim still didn't look back once, probably because he was ashamed of himself.

"We never got to meet our aunt because of you! Because of you, she ran away for the rest of her life!," they screamed almost in unison. The whole scene seemed like something you'd only witness in a movie. The middle-aged man walking down the road toward his car while the graduates and the two mothers stood there, clearly humiliating him. And that for a reason.

Mrs. Kim was the final one to throw the last remaining cap lying on the ground, also shouting at her husband: "I should've never married scum like you, business arrangement or not! Because of you, I was too much of a coward all my life to protect my own son because you told me not to! I hope karma will get you good and eat you the hell up, you piece of shit! And you better sign those damn divorce papers or I'll beat you to death!"

Jimin, Chaeyoung and Lisa, who remained but couldn't find any more caps to throw just decided to throw all sorts of insults at Mr. Kim's head instead, practically yelling on top of their lungs until he wasn't in sight anymore. And all this time, he didn't even look back once. Because despite all the unspeakably horrible things he had done, he still had a sense of shame. And if he had looked back, he would've felt exactly that. Shame.

He knew he had driven the girl he loved out of the country, possibly even out of the continent. And that might be the first as well as last thing he would ever deeply regret. After she had left, everything had gone absolutely numb. He did not care for another single thing, as long as he was successful and had a certain reputation he would at least feel accomplished. Like he had lived his life to the fullest despite being numb.

But honestly, what was he even living for?

Unfortunately, his feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction had just quite literally evaporated due to Jeon Jieun exposing his past to his family. Of course he had to leave, he simply could not bear the humiliation. He hated those people with all that he had. They kept reminding him of the past which infuriated him. But not anymore.

He would build himself a new life in the States, maybe things would better there... And truly, there was nothing holding him back.

Meanwhile, The Jeon family and remaining Kim family were seated inside Mr. Jeon's spacious Mercedes Benz, Jungkook's parents in the front seats while Jungkook, Taehyung and Mrs. Kim were squashed into the back, Jungkook's shoulder was currently occupied by Taehyung's head snuggling into it. The ride was quite silent, everyone needing some time to process all of the previous actions.

"Actually...," Mrs. Jeon suddenly broke the ice. "We should celebrate. You people do realize that Taehyung doesn't have to go to America anymore? He can go to college in Korea now, our dearest lovebirds may not have to be seperated after all," she spoke, everyone's eyes slightly widening.

"I...I didn't even think about that," Taehyung mumbled in disbelief. "I was just thinking about that poor girl and how much she had to suffer, I didn't even realize..." He then gasped.

"Mommy, I didn't even apply to any universities in Korea! No one's gonna take me, right? Oh no," he whined, lifting his head from the ravenette's shoulder and slumping back into his seat. Jungkook, who still looked as shocked as before, slightly squeezed his hand in order to slightly calm him.

"Actually," Jungkook's mother said with a nervous laugh. "When I dug for dirt on your father and searched every single computer and office in this town, I happened to find your college application somewhere. I wasn't really in my right mind, but I actually submitted them for the same universities my son applied to. You know, I had some hope for your father leaving but I didn't tell anyone about my plan since I wasn't sure it'd work. But evidently, it was worth a try."

Everyone gaped at her.

"And you never told me? Mom, you knew how devastated I was about him leaving! Couldn't you have told me about your plan?," her son whined, making her sigh deeply.

"What if my plan had failed? If I had told you beforehand, you would've been disappointed to death! I thought there was a possibility of Donghyun not leaving and choosing utter humiliation instead, but luckily, he made the right decision. He is a narcissistic, arrogant asshole after all."

"Can't argue with that," Mrs. Kim mumbled, still slightly in shock.

"When we got engaged, I already knew he loved another girl. And I didn't care, I loved someone else too. But I always knew he wasn't sane, I was the one who saved him from his suicide attempt. But, oh god... That poor girl. Do you know if she is alive?," she asked Mrs. Jeon, the latter shaking her head sadly.

"I hope so, with all my heart. Maybe she and Narae found each other again, I hope they did and fate made their paths cross again. All I know is she is nowhere in this country. Maybe she's in Europe, she always loved Rome." Taehyung felt like his heart weighed a ton, feeling for the poor girl and ashamed to share the same blood as the cruel man called Kim Donghyun.

"Yoongi told me she loved playing the piano. He probably got it from her, even though she's only his aunt...," he mumbled, his heart still heavy. He then lifted his head, directly looking at his boyfriend's mother.

"Mrs. Jeon, is there any chance of me getting accepted? At those colleges you sent my applications to?" The woman smiled encouragingly, thinking for a moment.

"I think there's a very big chance of you getting accepted, Taehyung. You're an excellent student. I haven't heard anything back yet but I'm sure it'll work out just fine. If you two are lucky, you may even get accepted at the same college."

"Honestly, I'm so happy I can even stay in this country, it doesn't matter where exactly I'll go. If this hadn't worked, I would... I can't even imagine. Thank you so much, Mrs. Jeon. I'll probably spend the rest of my life trying to repay you for your act of kindness, you really quite literally saved me. I want to hug you right now." Taehyung looked at her with a wide smile, never having felt this grateful in his whole life.

"Of course I did this, it was simply the right thing to do. I can't have you move to the other side of the globe and leave my son with crippling depression. And you deserve to stay here and go where you want, you really do."

Now Jungkook was the one to speak. "Mom... Thank you so, so much. I can't believe my luck, it's j-just--"

"I know. You better give me a hug later and be a really obedient son from now on. Now, I have an idea." Everyone perked their ears.

"There's this amazing Chinese restaurant just about half an hour away from here. How about we celebrate? Taehyung, you're gonna have a stressful time preparing for college time here, believe it or not. So how about we just have a really nice dinner, all of you went through so much emotional distress tonight. We all deserve this." To her delight, everyone nodded enthusiastically, the shock seemed to wear off on most of them.

"Dad," Jungkook asked suddenly. "Did you know about this?"

Mr. Jeon, heavily focused on the road, turned his head around to face his son but as his wife slapped his arm, signalling him to pay attention to the road again, turned back and decided to speak over his shoulder. "Not everything. Your mother and I dated in college, before she said yes to my confession she made sure I was an open-minded and good-hearted man and then, she told me about Haena. But not everything, just the girlfriend part." Jungkook nodded understandingly.

"Why did you never tell me, mom?," he asked, his mother looking back at him with a raised brow.

"Hon, I did. Just as much as I told your father. How did you think I raised you to be such a good boy in this horrible environment? Speaking with personal experience causes more persuasion and understanding, you know. You just forgot about it."

"Oops. I'm sorry." Mrs. Jeon laughed heartily.

"That's okay, sweetie. God, how glad I am that you have such an amazing father. And such an amazing son." The ravenette nodded happily.

"Thanks, mom. And thanks dad, you're the coolest," he spoke, his father thanking him at that.

"Jungkookie," Taehyung then murmured after a while, shyly poking his shoulder. "We can go to prom now. And we can celebrate you becoming an adult now! I don't even know what to give you..." Flashing an adorable bunny smile, the ravenette caressed his cheek lovingly.

"You don't have to give me anything, baby. Your presence is the biggest present I could ever get and today was how I realized. Us not getting seperated and no one getting shipped off is the best present I could ever get." The blonde returned his smile, leaning in to his touch.

"That's sweet, but I really wanna know what to get you. Something really, really special and heartfelt. Something you couldn't get anywhere else..." He drifted off into thought, the other suddenly showing a terrifyingly mischievous grin.

"I'll think of something, don't worry."

Not suspecting a single thing, the blonde let out a breath of relief. "Thank god. Don't forget to tell me, please." That mischievous grin still very present, the ravenette nodded and pulled him into a kiss, Taehyung not protesting at all.

"Kids, please. Can't you at least wait until dinner is over?," Mrs. Kim, who was still squashed in the back row with them, asked pleadingly.

"Nu-uh," her son stated cutely, now being the one to pull his boyfriend into another kiss and making all the parents inside the car shift uncomfortably. Lucky for them, their destination wasn't all too far away.

And just like that, everything went well, once again.
