《《BFF》|| taekook ✔️》Chapter 72

As Taehyung felt the low quality hardwood floor below his feet and opened his eyes to take a look at the school's gymnasium, he let out an audible gasp:

It was unrecognizable.

No mats, no hoops, no goalposts, no softballs scattered all over the room, no students running their laps while sweating heavily.

Instead, the whole room was completely empty, emitting a slightly rosy glow and overall an almost mystical vibe.

Speakers hung at every corner aswell as LED lamps and there stood two long tables lined up in the background, a pearly white tablecloth draped over them with several bottles, crystal glasses and three layer plates placed on them, their sweet little snacks immediately making his eyes widen. Blue roses decorated them beautifully.

"Oh my god... This is amazing, it looks like fairyland inside here!," he gushed, staring at his two redheaded friends in awe, the pair smiling at him fondly.

"We knew you'd like it. The preparations took quite a while, though. The lighting was hard to manage, but I can see it was worth it?" Jimin grinned at him proudly, him nodding excitedly and pulling him and Chaeyoung into a tight hug.

"Why wouldn't you let me help with the preparations, I feel bad now! Everything's just so-- thank you, thank you! No real prom night could ever top this!," he cried, his voice slightly muffled.

"It's your lucky day, you deserve this. Don't you dare feel bad... You want a drink? We heard you're a lightweight, so Mrs. Jeon made some low alcohol drinks, but still enough to get you in the mood," Chaeyoung smiled, gesturing him towards the fancy tables. The blonde immediately complied, smiling like a little child who was just gifted the hugest candy bar in its life.

He was so impressed- mesmerized, even-, that he did not notice the fact that Jungkook was not even there yet. And for the moment, he didn't care.

As he nipped at a pink-ish drink filled into a delicately cut crystal wineglass, he took another look at the little cakes and biscuits placed all over the three layer plates, his mouth slightly watering as his fingers gripped a little heart-shaped pastry with a red filling inside it.

"They have strawberry fillings inside them, my mom had so much fun making them," a voice suddenly whispered into his ear from behind, him dropping the pastry in slight shock and turning around abruptly, a little gasp leaving his mouth.

"Oh my-- Jungkookie!" He did not hesitate to engulf the new guest in a very tight hug, feeling as if it had been months since he'd last seen his boyfriend, though it had only been a day and half.

"Aw. Did you miss me that much, baby?," Jungkook asked softly, patting his back affectionately.

As they loosened the hug, Taehyung nodded bashfully.

"Yes, actually. You look so handsome tonight, oh my god. I've never seen you wear a suit before. And your hair is getting longer again, holy shit!," he rambled excitedly, the younger boy's ears turning red at the compliments he received and a wide bunny-like smile making its appearance all over his face.

Taehyung definetely wasn't lying, the ravenette looked like a literal god with his slightly long hair slicked back, revealing his forehead in all its glory and a quite fancy-looking suit fitting his body like it was tailored for him personally...

"And you look like an angel, my beautiful, little angel. You know you're the most beautiful person in this whole world whatever you do, but tonight you really outdid yourself," he whispered into the blonde boy's ear, tucking a strand of curly hair behind his ear.

"The night hasn't even started properly and you're already making me melt, stop it," Taehyung whined, hiding his face in his lover's brand new suit jacket, said lover laughing at his cuteness.

"Eat this, you'll like it," the younger whispered, pushing the heart-shaped pastry from earlier into the blonde's mouth with one hand and holding his jaw with the other, pushing his mouth close gently and feeling his heart swell as he saw the older's widened puppy eyes look up to him.

"Shooo goood!," Taehyung mumbled excitedly while chewing, feeling a powerful rush of gratitude for Mrs. Jeon run through him and smiled brightly as soon as he had swallowed.

"You're so cute," the ravenette cooed, ruffling his blonde curls and messing them up a bit.

"No, stop that! I just got it curled!," the blonde exclaimed in slight horrification, grabbing his boyfriend's wrist and pushing his hand off, shaking his head fiercely.

"Eat this instead," he spoke while grabbing a star-shaped biscuit and pushing it into Jungkook's mouth, the younger complying without a single word and chewing silently.

They kept going on like this for a whole while, feeding each other and sharing each other's drinks, small giggles leaving their mouths constantly.

Just as they were about to do their third love shot this night, an intruder interrupted them.

"Excuse me, lovebirds. I have to get some drinks for me and my girlfriend. You're kinda blocking them, Tae."

As the boy moved a bit away with a shy grin on his face to give Jimin access to the huge variety of drinks, he saw a new guest step through the door.

"Oh, Yoongi!," he squealed, running towards the smaller boy and pulling him into a tight hug, said smaller boy already being used to this and embracing it with an inward smile.

And only as they loosened the hug, Taehyung noticed the just as tall figure standing right beside him and widened his eyes.

"Oh, hi!"

"Taehyung, meet my sister. Min Yoonji. She's your guys' age, she just goes to school somewhere else."

Yoongi's sister almost looked like an exact replica of him, just in girl-version. Her smooth raven hair was much longer, her eyes were sharper and fiercer and overall, she gave him quite the intimidating aura. However, there seemed to be something charming and even sweet about the girl.

As he shook her pale hand with a little smile and shared a few words with her, he came to realize that Min Yoongi's sister was extremely friendly as soon as she warmed up to someone, she had the same little gummy smile that Yoongi did and there was an amiable twinkle in her fierce eyes.

"I'll get us some drinks, Yoongi," she then spoke, excusing herself and leaving Taehyung and Yoongi. As the blonde looked around to check on his boyfriend, he saw the ravenette talking to Jung Hoseok who was standing with a girl whose face was covered by him in the angle from which he was looking. Smiling, he turned back to a quite gloomy-looking Yoongi, a worried frown settling on his face.

"Hey, everything alright?," he asked concerned, laying both his hands on the smaller boy's shoulders and patting them to comfort him.

"Yeah... It's just... I-I don't want you to go," the raven-haired boy murmured quietly.

"Aww. I don't wanna go either, Yoongi. But I don't have a choice. I'm gonna miss you so much, but I'll be back someday. Don't worry, this isn't the end," he spoke calmly, feeling his heart clench a bit.

After a while, the younger boy continued. "You... You were my first real friend. All the people I talk to at school, every day? They're cool and all but I'd never trust them with any of my secrets. They're acquaintances, not friends. They may like me but they don't care for me. They don't confide in me, either. And normally, I didn't mind that, I didn't mind keeping personal information to myself. But that was before I met you."

"You actually care. You listen and you ask, you remember and you trust. You don't mind showing your true self to anyone and you make people laugh and smile. No one has ever done that for me except for my family. And for that, I'm grateful forever. Thank you for being my friend." The blonde could see something shimmering inside the other boy's eyes; tears.

And suddenly, he felt like crying himself.

Hugging him tightly, he answered, slightly sniffling: "No, thank you for being my friend. You're a great listener, a good person, and an amazing musician. When I come back soon, it'll be like I was never gone, I promise."

"I-I'm gonna miss you, Taehyung," the little ravenette cried softly, the older boy's heart stinging painfully and tears welling up his own eyes as he kept patting Yoongi's back.

And just in that moment, his sister Yoonji returned with some drinks.

She sighed.

"He's really bummed about you leaving, he told me all about it. My little brother's not one to cry easily, by the way. You're special to him, he really looks up to you." The girl smiled painfully, now squeezing two glasses into one hand skillfully so that she could join Taehyung to comfort Yoongi.

"Wow, I never knew Min Yoongi had a sister," a redheaded girl mumbled, looking over to a raven-haired female who was currently picking out some drinks for her and her brother.

"Do you find her pretty?," someone suddenly asked beside her, her eyebrows furrowing at the sudden question.

Chaeyoung had to admit, as much as her heart belonged to Lisa, Min Yoonji was extremely pretty and had thrown her off guard briefly.

And Lisa's sudden question threw her off guard even more.

"Uh... Yeah, of course," she just answered simply, not daring to look at the other girl.

"Would you date her if you were a guy?"

And that question made her heart stop momentarily, she also felt a bit hot all of a sudden. Did the temperature rise?

Do I really have to be a guy to-- nevermind.

"Um... Maybe? I mean, I don't know. Probably. What about you?," she squeaked, now finally daring to look at Lisa, the still rosy light luckily covering up her blush.

She saw the girl tilt her head in thought, then shaking it.

"Nope. She's definetely not my type. Or, like, she wouldn't be."

Chaeyoung could have sworn she saw her panic for a second but then, decided to shrug it off and just smile and nod, but then gasping as she saw something that surprised her heavily:

"Oh my god, is that Jisoo? With Jung Hoseok? I didn't dream of her getting invited here!"

Now both of them stared at the pair, dancing together while looking quite unbothered.

"Me neither! Do you think they're dating? She has some explaining to do, she didn't even tell us anything," Lisa exclaimed, Chaeyoung nodding at her and gulping down the last bit of her drink, getting ready to walk over to them.

"Let's ask her," she said, standing up, dusting off her dress and dragging Lisa along with her as she strode towards the pair.

The night went fantastically, just like Taehyung and Jungkook had wanted it. A night full of happy smiles, positive thoughts and fervent dancing.

Jimin, being the passionate dancer he was, had the most fun moving around on the dance floor, becoming one with the music and making everyone, especially his girlfriend, gape at his grace and his ability to move as if he wasn't made out of flesh and bones.

Even Jungkook had to admit the redhead looked extremely cool, he even complimented him after (well, Taehyung kind of coaxed him into it, big puppy eyes and lots of persuasion).

Hoseok was a close second: having a huge passion for dancing aswell, he pulled the whole gymnasium under his spell with his moves and inhumane flexibility. Especially Jisoo couldn't keep her eyes off the way he would move his limbs as if they were made out of jelly.

Taehyung, who had not had any experience with dancing before, luckily had Jungkook beside him to guide him through the steps. However, he tended to shy away a lot out of fear to accidentally step on the younger's shoes and hurt his feet.

So he eventually ended up with his head leaning against the other's chest and arms wrapped around his torso, feeling himself simply get swayed around and hearing Jungkook's heart beat steadily against his ear: accelerating as the songs got funkier and loud and de-accelerating as they got slow and more melancholy. And every time he closed his eyes, he could also feel the ravenette breathe, every inhale, every exhale. It made him feel protected, from everything in the world.

From the corner of his eye, he could see Chaeyoung and Lisa swaying around just like him and Jungkook did, inwardly wishing them all the best, aswell as Min Yoongi and his sister producing the most random moves aimlessly, both of them admittedly not being the biggest fans of dancing, him silently giggling at the siblings.

So as he stood outside the building later that night and observed the starry sky, feeling Jungkook's arm around him and the fresh but not too chilly air hit his skin, he laughed. For the last time tonight.

He just felt so happy.

So, so happy.

And he did not want to lose that.
