"Girls, we should have a sleepover. A sleepover right before graduation! How about Saturday?"

A strawberry blonde girl sucked in a slight breath, looking a tad uncomfortable. "I actually have something on that day. Can we reschedule?"

Her friend, Jennie, looked at her with raised eyebrows.

"Do you have a date or something like that?," Jisoo asked suspiciously, the aforementioned girl shaking her head at that.

"No, a party. Or more like a small gathering. Taehyung invited me."

"Well, let's do Friday, then. I just remembered my mom actually wanted to take me prom dress-shopping on Saturday so Friday seems like a better option after all. Can you come straight after school?," Jennie asked nonchalantly, her three friends nodding at that.

"Okay, great! Catch you girls later, I need to get to class." The brunette rushed away with a small smile on her face, Jisoo following her after bidding the two remaining girls goodbye aswell.

That left only Lisa and Chaeyoung.

"Hey, Lisa... I actually have a question," the strawberry blonde girl spoke quietly, feeling a little nervous all of a sudden.

"Yeah?," her friend asked, looking at her in a way that made her heart abruptly stop for a small moment.

"Um...," Chaeyoung started, feeling herself at a loss of words temporarily. She really wanted to slap herself for being so painfully awkward around the other girl.

"You remember what I told you about Taehyung, right? About his dad sending him away straight after graduation?" Lisa sighed and then nodded, looking a bit dejected.

"Of course, how could I not? It's so horrible, sending your own kid away just because you can't deal with the way they are. Poor thing won't even be able to attend prom, right?" The strawberry blonde girl nodded too, her gaze directed towards the floor with a slightly heavy heart.

"Yes, exactly. This is kinda what this is about. Since he can't be here for the actual prom party, we've kind of decided to make our own one. Saturday before graduation, in our school's gym. We've already got all the permits and stuff, so... And, um, Tae actually asked me if I could bring you along. A-As a friend. And dance partner, hypothetically," she rambled, her cheeks slightly reddening.

Lisa smiled.

"Sure. If he doesn't mind me being there? And if he doesn't mind me knowing about all of this in the first place, I mean, I didn't get many chances to talk to him...," she spoke carefully, Chaeyoung also smiling at her politeness.

"I told him how good of a person you are. And he was the one who requested you in the first place. Don't worry, he trusts you. And I told you everything because I trust you. A lot. You're my... friend."

The silver-haired girl tilted her head, grinning playfully.

"I thought I was your best friend."

Chaeyoung widened her eyes, quickly nodding.

"Um, yeah. Of course, M-My best friend." She smiled nervously, averting her gaze elsewhere. Anywhere else, really.

And so, she accidentally happened to watch Taehyung and Jungkook kiss on the other side of the room, and flushed out of embarrassment.

She wasn't the only one watching them, of course, there were many others who would still stare at them in utter shock, as if they were aliens flying around in mystical spaceships. Though it had already been almost a year since they had made their relationship public. Some things would never change.

The more she thought about it, the more she envied the two of them and their courage. Their love was strong, so strong they were willing to give up anything else for it.

And she admired that. She believed that even after graduation, the two of them would find their way back to each other. Because that kind of love only came once in a lifetime.

She was very sure of that.

"They look happy, huh?," Lisa asked all of a sudden, catching the other girl off guard. She, too, was now watching the two boys who were still kissing, Jungkook now lifting and twirling the other boy around while scrunching his nose and laughing.

"They do." The strawberry blonde nodded, now watching the floor again as she felt a bit awkward watching other people kiss.

"Have you ever considered kissing someone of the same gender?"

At that, Chaeyoung felt like someone knocked all the air out of her lungs all of a sudden, her heart forgetting how to function momentarily.

It took a while for her to even find and comprehend any words in her completely malfunctioning brain, but as she started calming down again, she tried to sound as nonchalant and relaxed as possible:

"I mean... Everyone has at least once, right?" She did not dare to look at the other girl, taking sudden interest in her manicured nails and watching them like a hawk, her insides going absolutely berserk.

(A/N: surprise surprise, a timeskip because your dear author's an impatient ass hoe like that 🤪)

"Ow... Oww!," a blonde boy whined loudly, shaking his head profusely at the perfectly manicured nails combing through his hair.

"Will you stop moving, please? You're making it worse. And you're the one who wanted curls in the first place!," a now red-haired girl begged, grabbing a strand of his hair with one hand and turning on the curling iron with the other one.

"My scalp's sensitive, Chae! Don't burn my head off, by the way, please." The aforementioned girl laughed, now placing the curling iron right below his little strand of hair.

"Trust me, I've done this millions of times. I'm a total hair expert, I could totally open my own hair salon after I graduate!"

"Guys, are you done with the hairdressing? I got my abundance of make-up with me-- Oh Taehyungie, you look soo gorgeous! Your man will drop dead when he sees you... You look gorgeous too, Chaeyoungie! And then there's me, looking like a potato," a new voice intercepted, another head of fiery red hair peeking through the doorframe.

"Jimin, you liar. You look just as good, you handsome piece of shit," Taehyung protested through gritted teeth, slightly wincing at the force his friend was brushing through his hair with.

"Hey, now that I notice," he continued, smiling his sweet boxy smile.

"You guys have the exact same hair colour now- you look like siblings!"

Chaeyoung looked up to the slightly taller boy, the both of them laughing heartily.

"Oh my god, you're right," she giggled.

"And you even have the same surname! Gosh, what if you guys are twins who were seperated at birth?" He clapped into his hands excitedly.

"Oh Taehyung, you watch too many teenage movies, I really, really doubt it," Jimin laughed, patting his hair affectionately.

"Hey, don't touch his hair! I just curled it for him, it'll get ruined!," the redheaded girl snapped, the boy grimacing at her.

"Whatever, hurry up! I wanna do his make-up, my hands are already itching to do it. He'll look so pretty," he gushed, two eye shadow-palettes in each of his hands, him holding them as if they were highly dangerous hand grenades.

"Alright, alright. I just finished, he's all yours." Taehyung felt his heart flutter slightly, today was going to be his lucky day. His last night full of fun and happiness before hardship would begin.

Whenever he struggled, Jungkook had been by his side, no matter what. Exams, stress, insecurities, all that. He always had a shoulder to lean- and occasionally- cry on.

But all that would go away soon, and he knew it.

The pain would be unbearable, that much he could anticipate.

He tried not to think of it, especially not today. But it was hard not to, his head had always had a tendency of overthinking and overworrying.

So as he felt Jimin's countless brushes and little sponges brush over his skin to work their magical wonders, he drifted off into his own little world full of thoughts and worries. Everytime that happened, he basically shut out everything beside the talking voices inside his head. Time, space, action, sound... Everything.

"...Earth to Taehyung. Hey, stop looking so depressed! It's your perfect magical fairy night full of unicorns and rainbows. The opportunity to feel happiness. You'll need it later on, I can guarantee you that much," Jimin spoke, pinching his cheek softly.

"Exactly. This is hard for us too, by the way. We'll have to live without you too, you know? We're gonna miss you!," Chaeyoung added, running her fingers through his curly locks one last time to give them the perfect volume.

"Thank you so much for doing this, guys. You're the world's best friends anyone could wish for, I'll miss you so much. There's nothing more scary than the fear of regret and with all the stress for finals, I felt like I didn't get any chances to feel happiness. But tonight's gonna make up for it, I'm sure of it. Absolutely no regrets." He smiled sweetly, feeling a bit cheered up and just deciding to focus on his happiness.

"We're your friends, we'd do anything for you, just like you'd do anything for us. And really, this is the least we could do. But holy shit, look at yourself! You look like a literal angel who fell from heaven, or a fairy prince! Only a little glitter and some cute lil' fairy wings and you could play the tooth fairy." The blonde boy giggled at Jimin's statement, his heart now feeling warmer than ever.

He threw a glance into the mirror and couldn't help but at least partly agree: blonde, silky curls, natural and quite innocence-conducting make-up aswell as a white v-neck with lots and lots of lace simply making him look angelic.

"No glitter for me, thank you. But you guys look like angels too, just so you know. If this prom party had a theme, it would be angels."

He watched his own hands, little silver rings and bracelets completing his look.

"I bet my ass Jungkook will show up looking like the fucking devil- dude literally owns nothing but black and grey, doesn't he ever get bored of it?"

Taehyung shrugged, a dreamy smile on his face.

"I wouldn't mind it, actually. He would look super hot. He'd be my devil, and-- stop laughing, you little shits!" Looking around for a pillow to throw on the two redheads' faces, his eyes met the digits of his digital clock resting on his nightstand, immediately widening.

"Shit, we need to go!" Abruptly standing up, he motioned the duo to follow him out of the room, his heart fluttering again, out of excitement.

"Are you ready to spend the most beautiful night of your high school years?," Chaeyoung asked, laying a hand on his shoulder while walking alongside him.

The blonde boy gave a smile- a genuine and sincere once- and nodded his head so that all his curls started bouncing cutely.

"Yes, I am."
