"You girls saw that too, right? I'm not hallucinating?"
At the end of the hallway, a clearly puzzled brunette girl leaned against her locker, gasping and fanning herself with her perfectly manicured hand.
"Yes, Jennie. We all saw that. But... I just don't understand? How is this possible?" Another pretty girl, this time with black hair, stared into the distance, wide-eyed and with a mortified expression on her face.
"I don't know, Jisoo. I'm just so shocked. I mean, Jeon Jungkook? Gay? I don't know if I should disappointed or surprised," the girl called Jennie spoke, scoffing. She turned away from Jisoo, facing another gorgeous female.
"What do you think, Chae? You haven't said anything."
Said girl looked up shocked, her big doe eyes full of surprise aswell. "U-Umm... I don't know what to say. I'm just... confused?" She twirled a strand of her soft, strawberry blonde hair around her finger out of nervosity.
"I know, you must be more shocked than all of us combined. Jeon Jungkook asked you out, right? Honestly, I was so jealous of you, he's so handsome! I couldn't believe you turned him down!" She laid a hand on her friend's shoulder, the female slightly flinching at that.
"Well, I just didn't like him that way, I guess. I'm too... young for a relationship, that's all. I just don't understand why he asked me out in the first place," she said shyly, Jennie raising her eyebrows at that.
"Are you kidding me, Park Chaeyoung? You're so pretty, any guy would be lucky to have you! He was probably dared to ask you out or something like that, what a jerk! Why ask a girl out if you don't like girls?," the brunette girl exclaimed, scoffing.
"Th-Thanks, Jennie. You're pretty too, even prettier, maybe. And, well, maybe he's bi?," Chaeyoung asked carefully, trying to sound as casual as possible.
Jennie furrowed her eyebrows at that, Jisoo along with her.
"Bi? What's that?"
The strawberry-blonde girl gasped, genuinely surprised that she didn't know. "Um, bisexual. It basically means that you like both genders."
Jennie's mouth formed an 'o'-shape, indicating that she understood.
"Oh, I didn't know that." Jisoo cocked an eyebrow. "People like that exist? I thought it was a joke. Pretty weird if you ask me." Feeling highly uncomfortable, Chaeyoung shrugged.
"I don't know. Just read something about it on the Internet."
The two girls nodded, waving as they saw someone approaching them. "Hey Liz, there you are!," Jisoo exclaimed happily. Another female stood by them, positioning herself right next to Chaeyoung and making her cheeks redden for some unknown reason.

"Oh my god, Lisa. Did you see them? Jeon Jungkook and Kim Taehyung? They were kissing! Two boys! So weird," Jennie whispered, as if she was scared that someone would hear them. The new girl, soft bangs covering her forehead and silver curls hanging down to her shoulders, raised her eyebrows.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. I saw them just now. Heard they were threatened, by the way. Craaazy shit." She grinned, making her pearly white teeth show. The strawberry blonde girl next to her had to refrain herself from staring.
"Ugh, let's stop talking about this, this is making me uncomfortable. Anyways, Chae. This 'no dating'-policy of your parents is so stupid. You should get a boyfriend, at least in secret!," Jisoo butted in, giggling. Chaeyoung just smiled awkwardly. Little did her friends know that the 'no dating'-policy was just an excuse she had used to avoid all the drama about having to date someone of the opposite gender.
"I-I don't know. I don't even think anyone likes me that way, so..." Jennie raised her eyebrows at her, nothing but pure confusion written in her face.
"Are you kidding? You have the perfect face and the perfect body and you're shy and delicate, exactly what the guys are going for. Recently, Yeri told me that her boyfriend told her that literally every guy on the football team has a crush on you. Well, except for Jeon Jungkook, I guess." She cackled.
"I agree. You're stunning and like, literal perfection so all you need now is a man," Jisoo commented with a smile on her face which made Chaeyoung feel even more uncomfortable. She just gave her friend a sweet smile in return.
"True. You're like, the prettiest girl ever. But actually, don't get a boyfriend, I'll be so jealous!," Lisa now spoke up, a cute smile adorning her face.
The strawberry blonde girl felt her heart beat wildly in her chest, trying very hard to hide the very prominent red all over her face and pretending to scratch her nose to not appear as flustered.
"Okay. I won't," she spoke shyly.

"Baby?"
A blonde boy lifted his head and raked his eyes around the room, seeing a certain raven-haired boy's head peeking through the half-open door.
"Y-Yes?" His voice sounded groggy and croaky, his eyes were red and swollen and his expression showed nothing but pure vulnerability.
"What happened?," the ravenette asked and entered the room, closing the door as quietly as he could and coming closer towards him. Taehyung felt the mattress dip next to the spot he was sitting on and then saw his boyfriend next to him, pulling the covers over both of them.

"What did they say to you?" Jungkook ruffled his soft blonde locks and lifted his chin, lowering his own head so that he was on Taehyung's eye level and looking into his eyes with a reassuring gaze.
"Horrible things," the older whispered, looking down.
"They're insulting me and telling me I'm an abomination, anonymously. Also, I'm getting a lot of th-threats. They say they're going to break into my house and beat me up, or lurk around in the hallways and beat me up there. Or death threats. And r-rape threats..."
All of a sudden, Jungkook's eyes darkened and he grabbed the blonde's phone that was lying on his lap.
"Who said these things to you? I'm killing all of them." His voice sounded dark and quiet, as if he actually wanted to kill someone.
Taehyung looked over to him, in fear.
"Jungkook, please don't say that. They're anonymous, anyways."
The younger didn't respond, now scrolling through Taehyung's Instagram direct messages, sucking in his breath and clicking his tongue at the violent things a lot of their schoolmates sent him, feeling nothing but pure anger rising up his throat.
"Taehyung."
"Hm?" Trying to calm himself down, Jungkook let go of his lover's phone and cupped his cheeks with both of his hands.
"Please delete Instagram, at least for a while. These messages are obviously hurting you and I can't bear to see you like this. I don't want you to be sad, my little prince. These people are being horrible to you but please stay strong and stay away from that app. Hm?" The ravenette pressed a kiss onto his temple, making the blonde show a small smile.
"But it's not only Instagram. I'm getting stuff on Snapchat, too. People sending me mean messages, weird pictures even. And everyone from our class group chat probably gave away my number so now, I'm getting private messages too. And honestly- it makes me not want to unlock my phone anymore. I feel so anxious every time I hear it vibrate or go off. It really makes me go insane. But at the same time, I also have this part inside of me that actually wants to know what they say, you know? This need to just read everything they've told me. I don't want to feel like this anymore, Kook. Make it stop, please." His voice faded more and more, until it was nothing but a small, helpless whisper.
"Baby, I've been getting messages too." The ravenette picked his lover up by grabbing him below his armpits and sat him into his lap, hugging his waist and nuzzling his head into the other's shoulder to show him some comfort.
"Not that many messages, but still."
"People are asking me what's wrong with me or if I got hypnotized or something. Then, a lot of people saying they're disappointed in me since they actually used to like me. Then, of course, people who want to convince me that I'm just confused, worrying about me. Of course, nothing in comparison to what you're going through. But these messages get really annoying and irritating. And in times like these, baby, we have to stay strong and stick together because this is like us against the world. So let's just shut off our phones for a few days and focus on our mental health, alright? We can do this." Jungkook's voice sent vibrations through Taehyung's neck and sent shivers down his spine. Good ones.
"Yes. I love you." The blonde shifted on the other's lap and cupped his cheeks with both hands, pulling him into a short kiss. The ravenette reacted by holding on to his lower back and closing his eyes.
"I love you too, my little prince. What was that for?" He booped their noses together, both of them giggling.
The older boy shrugged. "I don't know. I just love how you're supporting me and believing in me and not getting annoyed at me getting affected by these messages. I was worried you were gonna break up with me since you were getting messages because of me or something..." The younger frowned.
"Hey, look at me." Taehyung felt a soft grip on his jaw, causing his eyes to shoot up and meet his dear boyfriend's dark, comforting orbs, shining out of worry and concern.
"I would never break up with you, even if someone offered me the world for it. Nothing could ever make me go, I'm basically addicted to you. Try to get rid of me, I'm never letting you go. Don't even try to think about it," he half-whispered and claimed the blonde's lips in a gentle, yet fierce kiss to prove his statement right, running his hands all over the other's back and feeling said other's arms circle around his neck.
And in that moment, Taehyung knew Jungkook was right.
It really was like the both of them against the whole world.
But at least they had each other.

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
