《The List》(32)

"You're back!" Nadia yelled as soon as I walked into our dorm.
"I'm back," I said.
"I missed you!"
"I missed you too," I replied, setting down my suitcase.
"How was the trip?"
"It was awesome."
"That's good."
"Yeah," I said, walking to and crashing on my bed.
"Are you tired?"
"Very."
I had slept on the plane, but I was exhausted and didn't know why.
"Okay. I won't go to bed for a couple of hours, but I'll be quiet," Nadia said before I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
*****
I had a lot of school work to catch up on since I missed two days of lessons. As I sat doing my work the next morning before classes, Nadia kept humming.
"Nadia," I said.
"What?"
"Do you mind?" I said as kindly as possible.
"Oh, sorry!" She said, stopping the sounds coming out of her mouth.
"So, do you and Jess want to do a couple's yoga class with River and me tonight? It's on my list."
"Couple's yoga? Are you and River a couple?" She asked excitedly.
"No, but we're close enough."
"Jess and I would love to join you. What time?"
"6:00 at the Rosewell Yoga center."
"We'll be there."
I spent the rest of the day in classes and getting caught back up, and I'm sure that River was doing the same.
It was nearing 5:45, which was when River said he would pick me up for yoga class. I quickly got dressed in yoga pants and an athletic top and headed outside. River was in his car, waiting for me as promised.
"Hi," I said, getting into his car.

"Are you ready for this?" He asked.
"Yep, are you?"
"Not at all," He groaned.
"Oh, cheer up. It's for me, remember?"
"Yeah, I know," He said before starting the car.
"What's the difference between regular yoga and couple's yoga anyway?" I asked.
"I think that regular yoga is poses by yourself, and couples yoga is poses with someone else."
"Are you flexible?"
"Not at all."
"It's okay. We'll get through it together," I laughed.
When we got to the studio, we parked in the parking lot and walked in. I immediately saw Jess and Nadia. They had just started dating, so they were all over each other. I had never formally met Jess, so I was excited to meet the boy that could handle Nadia.
"Hi," I said, walking up to them.
"Hey, Jess, this is River and Alani. Alani and River, this is Jess," She said, introducing us.
After exchanging greetings, we found a spot in the room just as the instructor started the class.
The first pose we did was one where we stood up, held hands, and leaned back, balancing us. It was a relatively easy pose to start with.
"This is easy," River whispered.
River was quickly proven wrong as the next pose we did was a challenge. River had to lie with his hands and feet in the air, balancing me on my stomach. Jess, Nadia, and the others could easily do it, but River and I struggled.
We ended up in a laughing pile on the floor as the instructor looked at us funny. That was how most of the poses went for the rest of the class. It was usually us attempting the pose seriously, then giving up and laughing together. I could tell that the other people were getting annoyed with us, but I didn't care at all.

When class was over, we met up with Nadia and Jess outside.
"Do you guys want to get dinner?" Nadia asked.
"Sure," River and I said before getting into his car and driving to the restaurant.
"So, River," Jess said after we were seated. "How long have you and Alani been dating?"
"Oh, we're not dating," River said before I could say the same thing.
"Really?"
"Really," I said.
"They're just hooking up," Nadia blurted loudly.
"Nadia," I said.
"Sorry. Was it a secret?"
"No, I guess not," I said, looking at River, "But you don't have to say it so loudly," I laughed.
"Oops, sorry."
"It's okay, Nadia. It was kind of funny seeing everyone's stares."
"Do you guys want to play a game?" Nadia asked.
"Sure," We all agreed.
"Okay, the game is sort of like the alphabet game, except we go through the alphabet and say our favorite thing that starts with each letter. For example, for 'A,' I like aardvarks."
"Okay," I said. "For 'A,' I like academics."
"I like arms," River said. "They're very helpful."
"I like art," Jess said.
"Oh, are you an artist?" I asked.
"On the side. I'm really studying marine biology."
"His art is amazing," Nadia chimed in, causing Jess to blush.
"Thanks, babe," He said, grabbing her hand.
"Okay, for 'B,' I like bananas," Nadia said.
"I like Beaches," River said.
"Books," I said.
"Brushes," Jess said.
We continued with the game until we had finished the entire alphabet. I learned a lot about Jess and even some stuff I didn't know about River and Nadia. I learned that Jess loved animals and that he had five dogs at his childhood home. I learned that Nadia also had a love of animals, and I realized that River was very appreciative of his body parts.
I guess I was grateful for them too.
When dinner was over, we said goodbye and got into separate cars.
"Jess was nice," River said as I closed the door to his car.
"He was."
"Nadia's nice too. I like that group."
"So do I. We need to do more stuff together. We also need to do stuff with your friends. I feel like I'm pulling you away from them."
"You're not. Don't worry, and we can do something with Nelson and Victor for the next item on the list. What is it?" He asked as I pulled out a picture I had taken of my notebook.
"A Football game and the Jonas brother's concert are the last things on the list."
"Perfect. We can watch Nelson and Victor play at the football game and then meet up with them afterward. I think the next game is this Friday."
"Sounds good. When is the concert?"
"Crap, I almost forgot to check. It's tomorrow," He said after examining the tickets that he had bought a while ago.
"Why are we so forgetful?" I laughed.
"I don't know," He said before dropping me off at my dorm.
