《Life After An Unwanted Marriage》Chapter 16

Serenity came home feeling dejected. She slumped on the bed feeling the weight of the predicament on her shoulders. Thankfully, the house was void of her husband's presence when she arrived. She couldn't handle to deal with his queries yet.

To say that she was unhappy was an understatement, she's terribly crestfallen. Time was ticking on her side and she has to act upon the situation as immediately as possible.

Eyeing the God-forsaken results of her infertility which she had discarded on the bed earlier out of pure disappointment, she made a notion in her head to confront Andrei later when he gets home.

I just hope that he'll be cooperative

She thought as she trudged towards the direction of the bathroom with a heavy heart.

Little did she know that her husband would be more than cooperative with the situation, just not in the sense that she was hoping.

A little time later, Andrei finally arrived at his domain. Just as he entered the house, he was quickly informed that his wife arrived not an hour-long ago.

Great, he needed to deal with her.

With slow definite steps, he ambled straight to the direction of their room.

Upon his entrance in their bedchamber, he found a randomly discarded piece of document lying atop the duvet. He also noticed the doors to the connecting terrace were left wide open. It was distinguishable from the way the curtains billowed against the cool breeze of the dusk sky.

Making his way to the bed with the intention to grab the paper, he caught a glimpse of his wife's full-back figure leaning forward on the glass railings. She was already clad on her red silk camisole pajamas.

As he reached the bed, he picked up the piece of paper and analyzed its contents. Andrei sighed after his mind registered the information that was written.

It seems that his wife has something to tell.

Serenity's gaze was fixated straight ahead, looking at the distant view of the illuminated city of London from her position on the terrace of their Bel Air mansion. Her eyes were dull and her body lacked the charisma it usually possessed. Her hands were splayed on top of the railings as she leaned forward on it. Her mind still wandered to the probability of her being childless- the source of her despondency.

She closed her eyes, feeling the cold breeze engulf her body and causing her to shiver. The atmosphere was starting to get colder as time passed by. Slowly, she turned around.

As her body did a hundred and eighty degrees turn, she caught sight of Andrei who was standing on the threshold with his classic stoic face that shows disinterest or hardly anything at all.

Her breath hitched for a moment as she swallowed the lump that was forming on her throat. She was barely prepared for her monologue.

Her eyes left his face momentarily and it landed on the familiar piece of paper on his hand.

Serenity gasped. He knew

Looking back at his face, she knew he demands an explanation. "I need to tell you something," she said.

"Everything"

Serenity nodded as both of them head inside to start the conversation. With each step she took, she could already feel the nervous sensation building on the pit of her stomach.

Once inside, Andrei wasted no time.

"Speak" he demanded in a manner that meant to intimidate her. His eyes turned cold and she knew he wanted answers to her sudden disappearance first before the dreaded topic of her... Infertility.

"I had an emergency meeting with some overseas investors and I had to fly to America quickly. I needed to close that deal that's why I left. You were out of the property at that time and I hadn't had the time to wait any longer" She explained.

They were standing a good two meters away from each other face to face.

"Why didn't you leave a message to the staff so they could inform me"

"I was in a hurry" she finished off lamely. The truth was, she really didn't bother to tell anyone. Andrei would hardly mind after all and now here he is asking her about it as if he cared.

"Such in a hurry to not even bother to tell your secretary to reach out to mine and informed me about it, in a hurry to not leave an email or a message perhaps" He admonished, not liking her reason at all.

Serenity's emotion made a sudden stir. "Why do you care Andrei, It's not that you would even want me there" she retorted feeling the irritation rising.

"I do want you there as a matter of fact. You were supposed to accompany me to an event if it wasn't for your absence"

She glared at him. "Well, I'm glad I wasn't there, for I don't want to be stuck on that futile event associating with the elite people that possess the same attitude as yourself"

"Snob. arrogant. vain. and egocentric." she continued, elaborating the characteristic that she thought her husband possessed.

Andrei sneered at her. If only she knew of his ploy to deceive those people. "Trust me, darling, I've been called worse and I'm sure as hell you wouldn't want to know how condescending I am" He's beginning to like this fiery side of her. Making his way to approach her, he wondered how long can she keep it in.

Serenity backed away as he advanced. Such actions, made him stop on his tracks. He knew his wife is slowly losing this brave facade of hers whenever he tries to close the distance between them.

It made him smirk, knowing that he had this effect on her, besides, he exercised superiority in everything.

"Care to tell me about this document," he asked, referring to the paper in his hand.

Serenity heaved a sigh. Her expression turning that into a subdued one. Andrei noticed how this topic was bothering her but made no action to cease it. He needs to know too.

She looked at him in the eye. As difficult as it seemed, she went for it.

"I need something from you Andrei"

Andrei was amused for a bit, but his facial expression didn't mirror it. It was still blank and stoic.

"I figured that out" he let out.

"But not in the way that you're thinking" she quickly rushed that out, in fear that he might get the wrong implications.

But Andrei was neither naive nor stupid. He clearly knew what his wife wanted but decided to mess with her for a bit.

"What exactly am I thinking Serenity?" He challenged raising his perfect thick brows.

He could visibly see the crimson blush on her cheeks and inwardly his ego swelled with pride, knowing that even his non-sexual words hold this effect on her.

"I don't want to have sex, Andrei. I just need your sperm" inwardly she cringed at how disgusting that sounded.

"So you're going through tubes... Artificial Insemination or In Vitro Fertilization" for a moment, Serenity praised him in her mind for his knowledge about those things. Where did he even get that,?

"Yes," she answered.

And just simply as it is, he replied. "No"

"No?" She was confused.

"You know I much rather release my load into you than have it in a test tube"

Serenity's eyes were wide and she was taken aback at how direct he talked.

The idea of them having sex is slightly repellent to her. She shook her head at the thought.

"No Andrei. Please, just be cooperative on this" she pleaded

"I am being cooperative here, am I not?" he raised his brows again. Getting all amused at her reaction.

"You're making this even more complicated-"

"No serenity, YOU are making this complicated. Sex is the easiest way to conceive a baby without having to exa-"

"I don't want to have sex!" She raised her voice, making her point clear.

"Fine, if you won't help me on this then I'll find someone who can be a sperm donor"

"What the fuck!" He busted out. Eyes went piercing cold as he loathed the idea.

He was totally against that idea. The idea of her negotiating with another man just to make a baby even if it is in the modest possible way without performing the deed infuriates him. She will not carry a child that is not his. Hell, it would be a disgrace in his family and his reputation.

Serenity was taken aback at his outburst.

"You will not do that" he made to approach her. She went backward even more till unfortunately, her back hit the wall.

He cornered her with his warm, muscular body, placing his arms on either side of her head. She could feel his breath fanning her cheeks as she refused to look at him. Much to her dismay, Andrei made her look at him by tilting her face back with his hand.

She could see the distaste in his eyes. Those same mesmerizing eyes that could melt any human being. She saw how his jaw clench accentuating his perfect jawline as he did this.

"Andrei-"

"What the fuck Serenity, you will not carry a child that is not mine. Listen here" he released a sigh of frustration before continuing.

"My self-control is wearing out and I've been depriving myself of sexual intercourse for ten fucking months ever since the wedding, which I don't usually do. Now, if you want to get pregnant then at least consider doing the natural way first to test its effectiveness before advancing on that goddamned IVR" his eyes were menacingly serious it was almost frightening to look at.

Serenity could only look at him not having words to reply. She studied his features for a second. He was undeniably attractive- there's no doubt in that. His physique screamed history of well-bred genes of perfection.

Being caged in his body made her all elemental; all hot and cold, which she couldn't comprehend why. She was not usually to feel like this.

Thinking back to his words earlier, she was still hesitant with regard to the natural process of conceiving. She just couldn't and she doesn't trust her emotions well enough.

She knew for a fact that it'll just be sex for Andrei, but for her? What about her?

The possibility of feeling an emotional attachment to him was the thing she dreaded the most. Since she was always in the state about 'love' and 'feelings' and all those sentimental shit, chances are inevitable.

Oh God, no no no no no no and no... I will not!

Her mind screamed with conviction.

Andrei saw she was debating for the opposing sides in her pretty little head. From the way her pupils dilated as she looked at him, he knew at one point that she wanted it too, but couldn't actually pinpoint what was holding her back. The occasional biting of her lower lip as she made to speak but couldn't actually afford to let out a word was enough for him to conclude that she agreed to it half-heartedly.

His eyes couldn't help to examine.

She was undoubtedly beguiling; Her features, her body, her spirit, and her.... innocence. Gods, how Andrei wished to strip that innocence away.

He heard her sigh; a defeated one.

Now

It was clear as day what she had chosen. Smirking to himself, he vowed that he would make this night worth remembering for her first time.

Now, you have a headstart on what's about to come.

I just hope you'll like it.
