Pulling up by Mark's house I park the car and exit. Walking over to the door I ring the doorbell and wait for him to come to the door. As soon as the door opens I'm not met with the goofy face of my best friend but rather a man that I've never seen before, but then again Mark had told me that he was inviting some of his friends from work. The man just looks at me and it's getting a bit uncomfortable as he doesn't say anything and neither does he let me pass. Then Mark appears beside him.

"Lila, you made it. I was beginning to think you would bail on me... again" Mark says and I let out a giggle as he pushes himself past the other man and hugs me but my eyes somehow find themselves on the other man that is glaring at Mark. "Lila, this is Steel. My brother is coaching him and inviting him tonight. Steel, this is my best friend Lila" Mark says, introducing the two of us after he has let go of me and seen how I'm looking at the man... this Steel person, and he's looking at me.

I give the man a sweet smile as I walk in. "Hi" I kind of awkwardly say as his eyes just stare at me, but he doesn't speak and I don't think he's much of a talker, yet then again I'm not one or speaking that much and I find myself nervous to speak to strangers as well as other people. Mark closes the door and leads me to the living room, despite me knowing the way. I think he wants to present me to his friends and I know it will be awkward. Four people are sitting on the couches that are in his living room and as soon as we enter they all stare at me.

"So this is the famous ballerina that we've been hearing so much about?" One asks, a woman that doesn't look older than I am, and she looks rather sweet. She is sitting on a man's lap where his arms around her, I believe they are in a relationship. "Yes, this is Lila. Like these are my co-workers, Katie, Courtney and her fiancé Liam, and you've already met Steel and my brother Ridley" Mark says and then my eyes turn to look at his brother.

I've only seen him a handful of times and mostly he keeps to himself, he's boxer if I remember correctly. "Hi" I speak as I slightly wave my hand. Being in the spotlight has never been something that I'm good at, not even when dancing. Some find it odd that I'm the one that has a fear of being in the center when it is literally my passion to be in the center but when dancing I can just get lost and forget about everyone that is watching me and only focus on what I'm doing and not on them.

Everyone starts to continue their chatter and as I sit down in one chair while Mark is continuing cooking I find myself lost as I have no clue what they are speaking of. They're talking about work and since I don't work there I have no clue about anything architecture things and houses. Though I do notice that his brother Ridley and Steel are both lost like me and are just sitting here. Steel is sitting in a chair beside me, and yet I can feel his gaze on me at all time, though I don't look up at him.

I can tell he's tense and perhaps he's not sure what to do and that honestly makes the two of us. As much as I love Mark as my best friend I would rather be dancing, besides I have a show tomorrow night which will be big and I will need all the practice that I can get. "Tell me, Lila, what is like to do ballet? I hear that it damages the feet" The other girl, Katie asks me, breaking me from my thoughts. Everyone turn to look at me once again but that isn't new.

"It's the most amazing thing in the world and the pain is worth it. Dancing is like floating on clouds. There is a sense of peace and quiet with only music and the steps" I say, and she laughs. "I have no idea you were also a poet" She says, by her tone I could tell that it was a teasing one and I blush because it when they all start laughing, except for Ridley and Steel who goes even more tense when those words are spoken. His hands are gripping the chair so hard that I feel like he's going to break it at any second.

"I'm not" I speak quietly, but they did not hear me and I blush even more madly, wishing that this night would be over. I prefer being alone with only my dancing. It makes me feel alive. And I have never been good with people and I do not believe I will ever be good for it. They start to chat once again about something architecture and I stay silent. "I found your words beautiful" A voice comes beside me and I realize that Steel had spoken, his voice was low and only a whisper.

I look up from the ground over to his face and for the first time I actually see something that we both share, loneliness. He's just as alone here as I am and perhaps even more. "Thank you" I whisper to him as I feel this warmth light inside my heart like never before, making me both happy and confused. Steel doesn't know it, but he has made my night even better with only five words. I was about to speak something more to Steel when Mark appears from the kitchen. "Dinner is served" He says to us all.
