Ant and Dec just stared at the doctor, with tears already forming in their eyes before they'd even laid eyes on their loved ones.
Immediately after he'd left the room,Ali cautiously entered it and raised her hand to her mouth as soon as she saw Dec.
"Oh my God" she managed to mumble through her sobs,as Dec got up from the bed and fell into her arms, neither of them speaking, they were actually incapable of doing so in their emotional state.
A similar scene was being played out between Ant and Anne-Marie,the only sounds that filled the air were the emotional cries of relief.
Dec and Ali held onto each other for what seemed like the longest time, collapsing back onto the bed, their legs now too weak to support them, until they finally opened their eyes and stared at each other, almost in disbelief.
"Dec" Ali whispered as she cupped his cheeks with her hands "it's really you?you're really here?"
"It's really me" Dec sobbed.
"I thought I'd never see you again" Ali replied "I thought you were gone forever"
She covered Decs face with a shower of small kisses, smothering every little bit of skin she could reach with her loving lips.
"Me too" Dec replied quietly, enjoying the loving touch of the woman he'd missed so much.
"It's going to be ok now" Ali sighed as she ran her fingers through his hair "you're coming home"
Dec nodded through his tears before falling into Ali's arms once again.
Ant and Anne-Marie were sharing a similar, but still different moment as they clung onto each other without a single word being said, they were in their own little world and Dec glanced over to them and smiled sweetly before noticing who was behind Ali.
"Mam" he cried "Isla"
Anne had been waiting patiently as Dec and Ali were reunited, while holding her granddaughter in her arms, now it was her time with her son.
Dec attempted to throw his arms around them, but Isla immediately recoiled and started screaming.
"Isla?sweetheart, what is it?" Dec asked shocked at his beloved daughters reaction "come and give your daddy a cuddle,I've missed you so much"

Anne attempted to pass the child to Dec again, but Isla was having none of it and made her feelings on the subject perfectly clear, now screaming even louder whenever Dec approached her.
"She's forgotten me" Dec announced sadly, with anguished tears in his eyes.
"She'll come round" Ali assured him,as she took the child out of Anne's arms so she could hug her son "just give her time"
Dec nodded sadly.
Of course this was a normal reaction from a young child to someone she hadn't seen for months, even if it was her own father, but it still broke Decs heart.
"Declan" Anne stated and collapsed into her youngest childs arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Mam" Dec whispered through his tears "I'm so sorry"
"You don't have to be sorry" Anne muttered "I thought you were dead,I thought I'd never see you again...my poor boy"
"I know" Dec wept.
After a good few minutes of just holding each other tight,Anne finally pulled away slightly, gazing at her son lovingly.
"Let me look at you" she smiled as she stroked Decs cheek.
"My boy" she repeated and fell into his arms once again.
Meanwhile,Ant and Anne-Marie had finally managed to prise themselves apart, but we're still saying very little, just gazing into each others eyes adoringly, with the occasional 'I love you' mumbled through their tears.
Everyone eventually regained their composure and Ali sat on Decs bed with Isla on her lap, attempting to get the young girl used to being around her father again.
Thankfully Decs charm and playfulness meant it didn't take long before his daughter was happily sitting on his lap, enjoying the attention, much to everyone's relief.
"I missed you so much sweetheart" he whispered and kissed Islas head, while taking a deep breath, remembering how much he loved her scent.
"You missed daddy too didn't you Isla" Ali encouraged.
"Daddy" Isla grinned.
"I'm never leaving you again baby" Dec stated "I promise you"
"You'd better not" Anne scolded "we can't go through anything like this ever again"
"I'm sorry" Dec replied "it must have been awful for you all"
"It was" Anne nodded "but you're back now and you're fine and you'll be coming home soon"

"Yeah" Dec smiled "can't wait for that"
Eventually Decs family went over to reunite with Ant and Anne-Marie swapped to Decs bed where many more tears were understandably shed.
"I thought Martin and Pat we're coming too?" Dec questioned, noting his siblings absence.
"Yes,they're here" Ali smiled and glanced over at Ant "and Christine and Sarha too, they're waiting just outside as the doctors wouldn't allow us all in at once"
"Can we see them now?" Dec asked.
"Of course" Ali nodded "we'll send them in"
Ali,Anne,Isla and Anne-Marie said their goodbyes, promising they would be back very soon, having decided to go to a cafe for a drink so Ant and Dec could get reaquainted with their other family members.
As Ali hugged Dec,his naughty side soon resurfaced.
"Can't wait to get out of here and catch up on lost time" he whispered into her ear.
"Oh really?" Ali giggled "just what are you planning exactly?"
"You'll soon see" Dec grinned "let's just say I'll be exploring ALL of your erogenous zones"
"Declan" Ali laughed "stop it,your mother is here"
"Don't care" Dec grinned "I'm going to show you the best time ever"
"Ok,you dirty boy" Ali replied, while blushing slightly "I'll look forward to that"
Ant and Dec were soon having another emotionally charged reunion with Martin,Pat,Sarha and Christine, none of them thought it was physically possible to cry so many tears at one time.
The boys recovery continued to go well and the doctors agreed that they could be discharged in a couple of days time.
Ant and Dec were ecstatic, this was the last leg of the long, arduous journey that they'd been on and they would soon be free to go home and back to their lives.
They knew the attention they would receive would be absolutely crazy and agreed to give an interview to the press that had been camped out outside the hospital for days.
They were glad when it was out of the way after they had posed for photographs and answered questions, although they knew that was nothing compared to the lunacy they would experience from the British press once they got home.
But they knew they could handle it,they were used to it after all and knew exactly how to deal with it when the time came.
That time wasn't too far away now as the day had arrived for them to fly home.
They actually felt great and very healthy during the couple of days they'd spent in the hotel since leaving the hospital.
Finally, after months of stress, worry, starvation, brushes with death, arguments and not knowing if they would even survive their ordeal,Ant and Dec were sat in the first class lounge at Sydney airport, ready to embark on the long journey back to England.
"It's finally over" Ant stated as he sat next to Dec,sipping a cup of coffee.
"Thank God" Dec muttered.
"There were several times when we were stuck out there that I thought this moment would never come" Ant frowned.
"Me too" Dec nodded "I can't actually believe we're here...alive and well,I feel like I need to pinch myself sometimes to make sure I'm not dreaming"
"Yeah" Ant laughed "it's all over,we went through hell, but we came out the other side"
"I know it wasn't easy living with me" Dec pondered "and I'm sorry for everything I put you through"
"Hey" Ant smiled, pulling Dec in for a sideways hug "if I had to be stranded on a desert island with anyone,I'm glad it was you"
"You sure about that?" Dec grinned "I know I was a pain in the arse"
"True" Ant smirked "but you're a pain in the arse when we're in England too,so I'm pretty used to it"
"Charming" Dec exclaimed.
"Anyway,it's over with now" Ant pointed out "we can move on and get on with our lives"
"Yeah" Dec agreed as they heard the announcement that their flight was boarding.
As he and Ant stood up,they looked at each other and huge grins spread over both of their faces and Dec uttered three small words that meant the world to them both.
"We're going home!"
End!
