《Stranded》part 8

"Wind's picking up a bit?" Ant noticed as he and Dec lay on the floor in their new abode.
"Yeah" Dec replied "it's quite cosy in here though isn't it?"
"Yeah,it is" Ant laughed "this is a palace to us at the moment"
"At least our water bottles will be getting filled up" Dec smiled.
"As long as the wind hasn't blown them over" Ant frowned.
"Course not" Dec stated confidently "we made sure they were pretty secure"
"Better try and get some sleep then" Ant yawned "we've had a busy day"
"A productive day too" Dec beamed.
"Yeah" Ant muttered,as he rolled over and turned his back towards Dec "goodnight"
"Night Ant" Dec replied.
It wasn't long before Dec was awoken by a lot of howling and banging.
"ANT" Dec shouted out,as he was startled from his sleep "ANT"
"What's wrong Declan?" Ant asked sleepily.
"What do you mean what's wrong?" Dec exclaimed "how the hell can you sleep through this noise?"
Ant sat bolt upright in bed "shit,a storm?"
"Sounds like it" Dec said nervously,as he listened to the howling wind and cracking of branches as they were torn from the trees.
Ant looked up to the roof of their little shelter, only to be met with trickle of water dripping onto his forehead.
"It's bloody well leaking in here" Dec announced angrily "you said it was leak proof"
"Well,I thought it was" Ant frowned, moving away from the source of the leak.
"What do we do?" Dec asked desperately.
"Just stay put and hope the storm passes soon" Ant suggested.
"AAAAAAHHHHHH" Dec suddenly shouted out, jumping out of his skin as one of the pieces of driftwood tore away from the shelter.
"Oh God" Ant groaned "I'm not sure this is gonna much longer"
"What?" Dec asked distraught "it has to hold,we spent practically all day making it"
"I know" Ant sighed "I don't think it will though, not now it's already started falling apart"
"Should we get out then?" Dec begged.
"No" Ant replied "it's probably more dangerous out there than in here, trees and branches could fall on us from a much greater height"
"We could go on the beach then?" Dec suggested.
"Even worse" Ant replied "no protection from anything there, you don't know what might hit us"
"I'm scared" Dec said in an almost inaudible voice.
"I know kidda" Ant smiled "come here"
He beckoned Dec to move in closer, which Dec willingly did.
"Better?" Ant asked as Dec cuddled up to him and Ant kept his arms firmly wrapped around his friend.
Dec nodded quietly, but he wasn't really feeling any better,he was feeling absolutely terrified, not knowing how much worse the storm would get,it was already bad enough.
He buried his face into Ants chest as the wind got stronger and the rain got heavier, trying desperately to block out the horrendous sounds as their little makeshift home, gradually got ripped apart around them.
Once there wasn't much of it left, they decided they would now get better shelter from a nearby tree, but actually getting to it in the storm was a challenge in itself, the wind was so strong that it was one step forwards and two steps back and the driving rain was stinging their cheeks as they battled the elements.

"Just got to stay here now Decs" Ant announced,as they huddled against the tree together "till it passes"
Ant knew they were in danger of the tree or any part of it crashing down on top of them at any moment, but they didn't have any choice, there was nowhere else for them to go.
After a very long night of being huddled up together under the tree, cold, wet and scared, the storm finally began to ease.
Once the sun started to come up and they actually felt it's warm glow on their faces,Dec said what was probably on both of their minds.
"Better check out the damage then?"
Ant rose to his feet without saying a word and made his way over to where the shelter had stood.
"Nothing left" he announced as he scanned the area where some of the driftwood was scattered around, there wasn't even that much of it left,it had either been torn to bits or blown far away.
Ant kicked a piece of wood with his bare foot, which he immediately regretted.
"Fucks sake" he muttered,as he looked around "tying it all together was a waste of time wasn't it"
"Guess the wind was just stronger" Dec shrugged.
Ant suddenly had a thought and made a quick dash to the beach.
"Ant?" Dec ran straight after him.
"LOOK AT THIS DECLAN" Ant shouted "no fucking water either"
Dec peered down at the sand where Ant stood and let out a despairing sigh.
Two of the water bottles that they'd so carefully set up to catch the rainwater with hadn't withstood the strength of the wind and were nowhere to be seen, but one of the smaller ones was laying a bit further down the beach on it's side.
"This one's got a bit in it" Dec announced, picking it up "look,it's half full"
"Big fucking deal" Ant snapped "like that's gonna do us a lot of good"
"It's better than nothing" Dec smiled "it'll keep is going till it rains again"
"That could be weeks" Ant grumbled.
"Well,we're not going to be here for weeks are we?" Dec stated sharply.
Ant ignored Dec and glanced over to where they had left their stash of vomit fruit.
"You seen that" Ant asked, nodding towards the area.
"What?" Dec replied curiously.
"No food" Ant replied bluntly "all the fruit is gone too"
"Can't say I'll miss it" Dec mumbled.
"Well, good for you" Ant retorted as he stood up to begin his rant "maybe Declan, just maybe that fruit,as disgusting as it is,might have been the one thing to keep us alive, you want to starve to death...you go ahead, but count me out"
"But I..." Dec attempted to get a word in but failed miserably.
"No Dec" Ant shouted back angrily "I don't want to hear it,I don't want to hear any excuses from you,I'm done with this stupid island, all I want is to go home, see my girlfriend,my family,my friends, sleep in my own bed,but I'm stuck here with you, trying to keep both of our heads above water, but why am I bothering?"

"Because..." Dec said.
"Because nothing" Ant raged with furious tears now streaming down his face "because nothing,I tried,I really did,to make the best of a bad situation, make this place bearable to live in for both of us,but no,mother nature couldn't even give me that, had to send her stupid storm just in case we weren't quite as miserable as we should be,well she can fuck off and so can you"
Dec was shocked as Ant stormed off and sat down against a tree, sobbing despairingly as he buried his head in his lap.
Dec wasn't sure what he'd done wrong to deserve that,or what to do now as he observed that the boat had also gone.
'Didn't need it anyway" he thought to himself as he tried to make sense of Ants outburst.
Ant had always been the strong one in their friendship, the one who always had the answers, who knew what to do in a crisis, who always comforted Dec when he was upset and always knew just what to say.
Now the tables were turned and Dec was confused about his next move, should he go over to Ant?comfort him?or just give him some time and space?
Dec decided on the latter,he knew Ant dealt with being upset very differently than he did,Dec always wore his heart on his sleeve, there couldn't be many members of his family or close circle of friends who hadn't seen him cry, especially Ant,who was always his rock.
It still broke Decs heart to see Ant sobbing so hard that his whole body was trembling, but he knew if he went over,Ant was likely to reject him at that precise moment.
So,he decided on a different strategy.
They had built the shelter before, found fruit before,so there was no reason why they couldn't do it all again,so until Ant was ready to talk,or at least move on from what just happened,Dec busied himself trying to salvage what driftwood he could from their previous little home, before going off to comb the beach for more.
Luckily the storm had blown lots of wood up onto the beach,so it wasn't such a gruelling task this time.
He then set about rebuilding their house just as they did before, although he now didn't have anything to bind the wood together.
He did think about cutting his shirt up,but decided against it,knowing his delicate, pale skin being completely exposed to the intense daytime sun wouldn't end well, especially now that they were practically out of suncream,so he decided he'd just have to place the pieces of wood on without securing them and hope there wouldn't be anymore devastating storms.
Dec was actually quite enjoying the challenge after a while and was quite proud of himself as he sang away at the top of his voice.
"Weem a way,a weem a way" he sang over and over again before launching into a very high pitched version of The lion sleeps tonight.
"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight" he yelled out "in the jungle, the quiet jungle, the lion sleeps tonight...a weeeeeeeeeeeee, wee umm umm a way"
Ant couldn't help but giggle as he heard Decs catterwauling and smiled over at his best friend as he happily did his work.
Ant sighed to himself as he rose to his feet to join Dec,there was no way he could just leave the little guy to do all the work by himself, that wouldn't be fair, even though Dec actually looked like he was having the time of his life.
"A weeeeeeeeeeee, wee umm umm a way" Dec was still singing,as Ant got closer.
"I'm rebuilding the shelter" Dec beamed.
"I can see that" Ant smiled.
He immediately picked up a piece of wood and started helping.
"Sorry Decs" he mumbled as he set about his work.
"It's ok Ant" Dec smiled kindly "as long as you're ok?"
"Yeah,I am now" Ant nodded "the storm just tipped me over the edge I guess"
"We all have our tipping point" Dec nodded with understanding.
"Yeah" Ant replied sadly "guess that was mine"
"Wanna hug it out?" Dec grinned,as he held his arms out to Ant.
"Ok" Ant laughed,as he sank into Decs arms, feeling a sense of relief that no matter what went on in their friendship,no matter what hurtful or angry words were said, neither of them ever gave up on each other, they loved each other way too much for that.
"A weeeeeeeeeeee, wee umm...." Dec squealed,as he got back to work.
"DECLAN" Ant snapped "can you please sing something else?"
"Sorry" Dec grinned sheepishly "just thought as we're in a jungle"
"We're not in a jungle though are we?" Ant laughed "we're on an island"
"On the island, the mighty island..." Dec sang.
"Shut up" Ant laughed.
Once the task was complete, the boys stood back to admire their work.
"That's it then" Dec stated "let's hope it lasts this time"
He followed Ant as he strolled back to the beach and the two of them sat down on the warm sand.
Dec noticed that Ant was staring intently at his watch.
"Just as well that thing is waterproof eh?" Dec smiled.
When Ant didn't answer,Dec pushed a little bit harder.
"What is it Ant?" He asked concerned "why are you staring at your watch like that?"
"I'm looking at the date" Ant stated "how long have we been here?"
"Don't know" Dec shrugged "two, three, four, nights,I've lost track, they all kind of blend into one now, why?"
"The date Declan" Ant replied "look at the date"
"What about it?" Dec asked confused.
"The date" Ant repeated.
"Today is the day I'm a celebrity is supposed to start!"

Tryphant Agent's Historical Logs
[Disclaimer: This novel is no longer in continuation since I've found more joy in writing short stories. I'll continue writing about this universe and the world in it, building upon the documents of the Tryphant Agents but in another novel] What is the origin of life? What is the meaning to life? Are we the only intelligent being in this universe? Why haven't we been struct by a catastrophe??? How has the world been so peaceful for such a long time?!!! Is there a hidden force that controls our world from being destroyed?!!! How have we not noticed them!?!!! Am I just delusional??!!!! I'm definetly delusional. These are the questions that mortals often ask and frequently ignore in their life, yet answering these questions will lead a person to the Tryphant Agents. An organization who protects various civiliaztions from destruction time and time again without a single person noticing them. They are an organization that is like time, powerful yet unnoticed. This is the historical logs of the Tryphant Agents. Disclaimer: I'm writing this to fill my world with details and I'm only hoping for this to be a good story. The main core focus is to write characters with life into them, a world where it feels real, and story that is consistent. Don't expect a top tier story because this will be my experimental logs as well where I will try various writing styles. Rather I wish that you hope for a great story instead.

I'm Sure It'll be Fine! ...right?
We live to die, and die to live again. This Cycle continues, neither to Begin nor End. Ever Beginning, never to End, we come to the story of our Unusual Friend. The Gods are as varied and unique as the mortals that worship them. Some are kind, others are fluffy, and (given the nature of the multiverse) a few are Eldrich Abominations of Unspeakable Horror. But that's fine, those few tend to mind their own business... At least until an Eldrich Abomination (an interdimensional cosmic slime-mold specifically) gets itself devoured by a Lich during a ritual to obtain Godhood... Especially because anyone, even a Lich, who's willing to eat an ENTIRE COSMIC SLIME-MOLD for any reason, even godhood, is undoubtedly a madman...who's now set his unsightly gaze upon replacing (likely by devouring) the Godess of Magic herself! She could probably use some help...if only to avoid touching the slimy Lichgod directly. Also, the Eldrich Gods are protesting these events in their usual manner...by trying to destroy all of Creation.
