《Stranded》part 1

"Can't wait for this" Dec grinned.
"Me neither" Ant smiled "it's going to be bloody amazing"
Ant and Dec were in Australia, preparing for the next series of I'm a Celebrity.
They had only arrived a couple of days earlier with Ali,Anne-Marie and Isla accompanying them and had a few days to themselves to relax and get over the jet lag.
The boys had decided to book a trip to see dolphins out in their natural habitat.Ali and Anne-Marie thought they would probably do the same trip in a couple of weeks time while Ant and Dec were working, but they were happy to leave the boys to it today while they took Isla to the beach.
Ant and Dec had decided to hire a Deck boat, complete with skipper to do the piloting,so they could just relax and enjoy the day.
"Hi guys,I'm Andy" a friendly, middle aged Australian held out his hand.
"Ant" Ant smiled as he shook Andys hand.
"Dec" Dec beamed and repeated the gesture.
"Of course you are" Andy laughed "you're those guys who put celebrities through hell in the jungle aren't you?"
"That's us" Ant laughed.
"Crazy that anyone would agree to that" Andy smiled.
"Thank God they do though" Dec grinned "or we wouldn't have a programme"
"Or a month in sunny Australia" Ant beamed.
"We have our own version of it here you know?" Andy informed the boys.
"Yeah,we've seen it" Ant replied.
"Copying our ideas as usual" Dec joked.
"Nuts, the lot of them" Andy stated, while playfully shaking his head "so are you guys ready for today?"
"Absolutely" Dec smiled "can't bloody wait,I've always wanted to go dolphin watching"
"You might even be able to have a quick dip with them if the sea is calm enough" Andy said "did you bring your swimming trunks?"
"Nah" Ant replied "can just go in in my shorts, they'll dry off quick enough in the sun"
"Alright then boys" Andy smiled "I've got stuff for lunch and some snacks in case you get peckish and I'll have you back way before dinner time.Is there anything else you need before we set off?"
"Don't think so" Dec replied "got suncream,sunhat,water...anything else we need?"
"No,you're all good I think" Andy replied "let's get on board then shall we?"
"This is amazing" Ant smiled as he watched the pods of dolphins through his binoculars a couple of hours later "we had to come quite far out didn't we?"

"Well, dolphins don't generally make their way up to the beach" Andy laughed.
Ant and Dec were having the time of their lives watching the dolphins, some who came amazingly close to the boat.
"Oh my God" Dec exclaimed "I've got to get in the water with them"
"Yeah,me too" Ant agreed excitedly.
"Just be very gentle boys ok?" Andy advised as Ant and Dec slowly descended the ladder at the back of the boat "if they're comfortable, they'll come to you"
"Make sure you take loads of photos if they do" Dec waved to Andy as he dunked himself into the deep water.
"Dec,look" Ant grinned "there's one"
"It's coming over" Dec beamed as he trod water carefully, determined not to scare the beautiful creature away.
"Oh wow" Ant grinned,as the dolphin swam even nearer "hello there, aren't you beautiful?"
"It really is" Dec replied happily.
"Is it ok to touch it?" Dec looked up at Andy hopefully.
"Yeah,go ahead" Andy smiled "it'll soon swim away if it doesn't like it"
"Hello, there mister dolphin" Dec said childishly as he rubbed it's nose "how are you today?"
Andy snapped away with the boys mobile phones that they had left him in charge of,taking loads of pictures for Ant and Decs special keepsakes,as they frolicked happily in the ocean.
"I guess I'd better think about getting you back then hadn't I?" Andy suggested as Ant and Dec climbed back on board the boat "don't want to be in trouble with your other halves"
"Yeah" Dec laughed "don't want to feel their wrath after such a fantastic day"
"They're planning to do this too" Ant smiled "in a couple of weeks time"
"Ah,great" Andy replied "give us a call if you like and I'll be happy to take them out too"
"Brilliant" Ant grinned "I'll do that,I'd definitely recommend you as a guide"
Andy had in fact turned out to be great company and the boys had enjoyed a real fun filled day with him,he also had an amazing knowledge of dolphins and sea life, which he was only too keen to share.
"Let's get back then" Andy smiled,as he rubbed his left arm.
"You ok there Andy?" Dec asked concerned "did you hurt your arm?"
"Not sure" Andy replied "just aches a bit"
He was actually lying through his teeth and in considerable pain, but he didn't want to worry the boys, although it would be impossible not to,as Ant and Dec were becoming increasingly alarmed by Andys appearance.

He was sweating profusely and now clutching his chest.
"Andy, what is it?" Dec asked in a distressed manner.
Andy suddenly dropped to the floor of the boat and lay there still and silent.
"ANDY" Dec screamed out in horror "Ant what's wrong with him?"
"I think he's having a heart attack" Ant announced desperately.
"Do something Ant" Dec cried "give him CPR or something"
"I don't know how to Decs" Ant shook his head despairingly "do you?"
"No" Dec replied "but we have to at least try,we've seen it on telly"
So they did their best to bring their unfortunate guide back to life, but after what seemed like hours of trying, which in reality was only a few minutes, they had to admit defeat.
"He's dead Dec" Ant stated sadly,as he felt Andys neck for a pulse.
"No,don't say that" Dec begged through his tears "he can't be,we've got to try something else...our phones,I'll call the emergency services"
Dec fished his phone out from his beach bag where Andy had placed it and held it up towards the sunlight.
"No fucking signal" he announced "I don't believe it"
"Of course there's no signal Decs" Ant sighed "we're out at sea"
"What are we going to do now?" Dec asked, with rising panic in his voice.
Ant got up from kneeling beside Andys lifeless body, sensing that Dec was about to have a complete meltdown.
"Come on Decs" he said calmly "I know this is a bloody awful situation that no one could have foreseen, but you have to hold it together ok?"
"HOLD IT TOGETHER" Dec shouted "we're in a boat with a dead body for Gods sake, how exactly am I supposed to hold it together?"
"Just do your best" Ant sighed,as he took his t-shirt off and laid it gently over Andys face.
"What are we going to do?" Dec sobbed.
"We'll just have to make our own way back" Ant smiled reassuringly "this thing can't be that hard to pilot"
"Know the way do you?" Dec asked "it took us around two hours to get out here"
"Well" Ant shrugged "we'll just keep going until we see land.Even if it's not exactly where we started,we can find our way back from wherever it is"
"Wish I had your confidence" Dec sighed.
"It'll be fine Decs" Ant smiled "you'll see"
"Not for Andy it won't" Dec mumbled.
"No,it won't" Ant agreed "but we need to be respectful and deliver him back to his loved ones as soon as possible"
"Can't believe this is happening" Dec exclaimed.
"I know kidda" Ant smiled sympathetically, always ready to take on his caring, protective role towards Dec as he always did,no matter how dire the situation was "let's get going then shall we?"
Dec suddenly fell backwards onto the deck as Ant fiddled with the boat controls and it lurched into life.
"Sorry" he muttered.
"Which way do we go?" Dec asked confused,as he sat down on the seat next to Ant "there's nothing but ocean all around us"
"I guess we just go back the way we came" Ant shrugged.
"Yeah, like it's gonna be that simple" Dec moaned.
"Do you want to do it?" Ant snapped "complaining all the time isn't going to help the situation is it?"
"Sorry" Dec mumbled.
Ant soon got a feel for the boat and it's controls and headed off towards where he hoped land would soon come into sight.
"Umm...Ant" Dec muttered a good while later.
"What?" Ant retorted, pretty sure he knew exactly what Dec was thinking.
"We've been going for at least a couple of hours now" Dec stated "it's beginning to get dark and there's still no sign of land anywhere"
"I know" Ant sighed "try your phone again. If there's a signal,we've got to be close to land"
"Nope" Dec replied glumly,as he waved his mobile phone in the air, desperately trying to get even a slight connection "what are we going to do?"
"Just keep going I guess" Ant replied "and hope for the best"
"Great plan" Dec snapped sarcastically.
"Dec,calm down will you?" Ant sighed "When we don't arrive back at the expected time,a search party will be sent out for us,we're not gonna die out here"
"We might" Dec frowned "bet that's what Andy thought! How will they even know where to look?"
"Yeah, maybe we should have stayed put" Ant mused "then they would have an idea where to start the search, assuming Andy always goes to the same spot, someone would know what route he usually takes"
"Oh bloody great" Dec moaned "so now no one knows where to start looking for us?"
Ant decided to ignore Decs complaining,as they both just looked out to what seemed like endless ocean from every angle.
If it hadn't been for Andys untimely death,Ant would have thought being stranded out at sea for a little while would be quite an adventure.
He still wasn't particularly worried though.
He knew that even if it took a few hours, they'd be found eventually.
Or would they?

The Emperor's Chef
"Cook like your life depends on it, kid. Because it does." Charles had an enviable future lined up for him. Training from the age of five by some of the finest chefs in the world. Schooling at a top culinary academy in the capital. An honorable position as heir to House Boulier, a line of merchant-lords who have charmed the rich and powerful with their cooking for centuries. And in a single night, it all burned to ash. When the outbreak of war destroys his hometown, Charles is charged with escorting his family’s sacred treasure—a recipe book passed down for untold generations—out of harm's way. But his simple mission grows complicated when he’s captured by one of the most feared battalions in the world: the Spears of Mercy. Life as a prisoner in their war camp is brutal and uncertain. Charles has few allies and even fewer strengths to rely on. Only his skills in the culinary arts, honed over a lifetime in the kitchen, are deemed useful enough to keep him alive another day. But he’s not out of hope just yet. With a dash of wit, a pinch of luck, and some very creative cooking, he might just find a way to recover his family’s legacy and take back his freedom. This project is a food-themed fantasy that centers on cooking and chefs. The setting spans a wide world featuring ingredients/recipes both real and inspired by traditional fantasy. I'll eventually be publishing it as a full-length novel (or series of novels depending on length). These are the first draft chapters. I'll likely be re-writing more than once, then editing before publishing, so impressions and feedback are quite welcome. If you like the story so far and you're interested in being an early reviewer for the final product, feel free to message me. I'm looking for an artist to make some concept art and a cover (the cover shown here is just a temporary placeholder). A stand-alone novel for now, but it may turn into a series down the road.

Party Leveling
{A new notification has arrived.} In front of a few people, these hologram-looking messages appeared and changed their lives in entirely different forms. Things such as growing stronger, becoming smarter, feeling more agile, became possible within short periods of time from that point onwards. The one who regretted his weak healing abilities for years began to chase after the magic powers that could turn reason and sense upside down while keeping his goal, this duty to the wrongs he committed. The other one, who complained about his lack of strength, strove towards the path of an unbeatable champion to protect those he held dear. When the person who had everything found a path to desire for more, not fearing the consequences and the obstacles, he also began to walk onwards to a new life. And among them, the one who walked aimlessly but also never stepped down on the choices he made along the way, was the one who couldn’t be ignored nor disrespected by anyone. The “Player” system that they all obtained, and which granted them several abilities, knowledge and directions, was also the beginning of an entire new era in this world where monsters, magic and technology, were already common and wide-spread. There’s not a single hero, but after committing mistakes after mistakes, learning from the painful and thorny path that they take, and growing as people with the people that surround them, then someday... there will certainly be saviors.
