《Baby of the family》part 100

"This is gonna be a lot crazier than Las Vegas" Ant announced confidently.

The boys and a few friends had visited the American city a few months earlier. It was originally supposed to be a part of Decs stag celebrations, but it didn't really turn out that way, thanks to jet lag, general tiredness and Dec having a dodgy tummy for the long weekend that they were there.

They still had a nice break, but it hadn't been the wild lads holiday away that they had been expecting,it had actually turned into a bit of a damp squib and one that they soon forgot all about.

They did their best to enjoy the casinos and give Dec a good time, but with the stomach bug that was making him feel so ill,he basically just wanted to sleep the whole time.

So Ant was determined this second stag night would be a lot more successful and like the grand piss ups that their friends had become accustomed to when Ant and Dec were entertaining.

Ant had booked the Octoberfest pub in Fulham for the evening and an impressive array of their celebrity friends were very keen to attend.

It was still a good few weeks until the wedding,Ali had been extremely determined that no such celebrations would take place too close to the actual date. The last thing she wanted was any of the groomsmen being hungover, least of all her husband to be.

So she was very happy for the stag night to go ahead in June and she arranged her hen night for the same day.

As expected,Dec was completely legless by the end of the night, but he'd had a brilliant time, drinking with his buddies and watching the dancing girls that Ant had booked, perform on stage.

"Thinshk I need to go to bedsh" Dec slurred in the early hours of the morning as they left the pub.

"Yeah,I think you do" Ant laughed "I've got a taxi waiting"

Ant had drank a lot more than Dec had,but as usual,he tolerated it a lot better than his smaller friend.

"Howsh your knee?" Dec mumbled, pointing to Ants knee that was now supported by a leg brace.

"It's fine Dec" Ant laughed "don't you worry about that, let's get you home shall we?"

Dec and some of the guys were staying over at Ants house while Lisa and the girls stayed at Decs with Ali.

Dec was well known amongst his friends for being a bit of a lightweight when it came to drinking, although it didn't stop him knocking the pints back,it just meant that Ant knew he'd be putting the little guy to bed tonight.

Ant on the other hand, could drink just about anyone under the table without hardly feeling any unwelcome side effects.

"All set then kidda?" Ant smiled as he perched on the edge of Decs bed "you've got your sick bucket just in case and a glass of water, anything else you need?"

"More beer?" Dec grinned hopefully.

"Yeah right" Ant laughed "that's the last thing you need"

"Chips?" Dec asked.

"Declan" Ant shook his head despairingly "you've eaten loads tonight, that was a hell of a spread they put on in the pub"

"Still hungry" Dec moaned.

"Tough" Ant replied "there's already a very high chance that you might be spewing your guts up before long,so food is the last thing you need right now,it's not going to kill you to wait till morning"

"You're a meanie" Dec stated childishly.

"Yeah,I know" Ant laughed "I'm so horrible to you aren't I?"

"Yep" Dec groaned "gimme some food"

"I tell ya what Decs" Ant smiled affectionately "you go to sleep now and I promise I'll cook you a full English in the morning, how does that sound?"

"Now?" Dec asked hopefully.

"No,not now Declan" Ant laughed, while glancing at the bedside clock "I'm not cooking at 3 o'clock in the morning, you'll just have to wait until I get up,now go to sleep"

"Poo poo head" Dec yawned endearingly.

"You're so ridiculous when you're drunk, you know that?" Ant smiled "but it just makes me love you even more"

"Love you t..." Dec trailed off as he started to drift off into a restless, alcohol induced sleep.

Ant pulled the duvet up to Decs shoulders and sat and watched him sleeping for a while.

How was it possible to love someone as much as he loved Dec?that would always be a mystery to him.Of course he loved Lisa, but what he had with Dec was a different kind of love, something they only had with each other,no one else.

It was hard to describe it to other people, but they both knew it was special,it always had been and they both secretly loved the fact that no one really understood it,it was just theirs...their special, undying, unique, amazing love that they had for one another.

"Sweet dreams Declan" Ant whispered as he kissed his best friend on the forehead "goodnight"

Of course the next day,Dec had the hangover from hell.

Ant did his best to make him feel better.Making him and the other guys who had stayed the night, the promised full English breakfast, but Dec felt too queasy to stomach much of it.

Once Ants other guests had left,he and Dec settled down for a lazy day to recover from the previous nights shenanigans.

Dec took a large slurp from the very strong coffee that Ant had insisted he drank.

Dec actually wasn't very keen on coffee, but he had learned long ago to do as he was told when Ant was taking care of him,Ant always knew what was best for him after all.

"Ugh,that's bloody horrible" Dec grimaced.

"Just drink it and stop ya moaning" Ant laughed.

"I'm getting married" Dec announced suddenly out of nowhere.

"Yes,you are" Ant nodded "you're going to be Mr Declan Astall"

"Shut up you eejit" Dec laughed "she's going to be Mrs Alison Donnelly actually"

"Is she?" Ant asked.

"Nah,not really" Dec smiled "she's keeping her maiden name,it's just easier for work and all that"

"And she's an independent woman" Ant grinned.

"Oh,she definitely is" Dec laughed "she's going to keep me on my toes, that's for sure"

"Yeah" Ant smiled "I like the suits she chose for us,who'd have thought royal blue would look so good on us?"

"Yep" Dec agreed "Ali definitely has great fashion sense, she would have had them be a surprise too if it wasn't for the fact we needed to get measured for them"

"Yeah,I can imagine" Ant laughed "still, doesn't every little girl dream of their wedding day?"

"No idea" Dec shrugged "but she certainly did. She's having a great time sorting it all out with the wedding planner,so I'm just leaving them to it"

"Good idea" Ant grinned "you don't want to be around if Ali turns into a bridezilla"

"Well,no sign of that yet" Dec replied "so I think we're all good"

As the wedding date drew nearer,Ant and Dec had both decided to stay with their families for a few days before the actual day, then move to the Maften Hall hotel in Newcastle, where the reception would be held, the day before.

"Lovely place isn't it?" Dec asked as they looked around the impressive hotel.

"Yeah,it's amazing" Ant agreed "so what do we do now?"

"I'm popping over to see Ali" Dec announced.

Ali was staying with a friend in Newcastle up until the wedding day and she and her bridesmaids would all be getting ready there.

"Is that allowed?" Ant frowned.

"What?" Dec asked.

"You know?" Ant continued "are you allowed to see the bride the day before the wedding?isn't it bad luck or something?"

"No" Dec replied "that's the morning of the wedding that we're not supposed to see each other, but the day before is fine,I hope so anyway,I've got a present for her, you've been through all this with Lisa, don't you remember?"

"I guess not" Ant laughed "but I'm sure she will send you packing if you're not supposed to be there"

"Yeah,no doubt about that" Dec smiled.

So a couple of hours later,Dec was making his way over to Ali's friends house.

The friend and everyone else in the house quickly made themselves scarce so Ali could have some alone time with her future husband.

"Alright?" Dec winked.

"Yeah,I'm fine" Ali smiled as she leaned in to give Dec a quick kiss "how about you?"

"Yeah,I'm good" Dec nodded "me and Ant have moved all our stuff to the hotel"

"Good" Ali smiled while referring to one of her good friends "Maddie is going to do that for me later. Are you nervous?"

"Not at all" Dec grinned "just excited"

"Yeah,I'm not nervous either, although it might be a different story in the morning" Ali smiled.

"Probably" Dec laughed "I've got something for you"

"Really?" Ali asked curiously.

"Yeah,of course I have" Dec confirmed "you don't think I'd not bother getting you a wedding present do you?"

"Dunno" Ali shrugged.

"Well,I have" Dec beamed and pulled a small box out of his jeans pocket "open it"

"Oh Dec" Ali exclaimed as she peered down at the stunning drop earrings "they're beautiful"

"Just like you" Dec beamed.

"I'm going to wear them tomorrow as I walk down the aisle to marry the man of my dreams" Ali announced.

"Who's that then?" Dec winked.

"You of course, you gorgeous man" Ali grinned "but thank you for my earrings,I love them"

"You sure you want to wear them tomorrow?" Dec asked "haven't you already got some picked out?"

"Well,I did have" Ali smiled "but these are even more perfect, you have quite an eye for jewellery Declan Donnelly"

"I do my best" Dec laughed.

"I've got a present for you too" Ali announced.

"Ooh,gimme, gimme" Dec grinned "I love presents"

"I know you do,you big kid" Ali laughed "but I'm afraid this one is going to have to wait until after the honeymoon"

"Aww,that's not fair" Dec pouted playfully "it's our wedding day tomorrow, now gimme"

"I promise you,it will be worth the wait" Ali informed him "now I'd better get back to the girls and no doubt Ant will be missing you"

"Ah,don't worry about him" Dec insisted "he'll be propping up the bar with some of the lads, doubt he'll even notice I'm not there"

"You know that's not true" Ali laughed "now get yourself back to the boys, but don't you dare drink too much,I do not want a hungover groom tomorrow, you hear?"

"Loud and clear ma'am" Dec laughed while performing a pretend salute, then kissing his future bride before making his way back to Ant and the other lads at the hotel.

Ant and Dec and their friends had a very sensible evening at the bar, agreeing to have no more than a couple of drinks, then an early night in the hope of being bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning and anyway, none of them were willing to risk feeling Ali's wrath should any of them, especially Dec,overdo it.

"You look great" Ant smiled as Dec admired his reflection in the full length mirror the following day "turn round, let's check you over one last time"

Dec turned to face his best man "you look great too"

"Thanks" Ant smiled as he brushed invisible specks of dirt off from Decs shoulders before fixing an already perfectly straight tie "you're all set,the car will be here soon"

"Bet the church is already packed" Dec smiled.

"Oh,it definitely will be" Ant laughed "with your huge family and friendship circle, there probably won't be any room for Ali's gang, are you nervous?"

"Not at all" Dec stated "weird eh?I thought I'd be bricking it"

"The adrenaline is keeping you going I'd imagine" Ant replied.

"Yeah" Dec agreed "I'm more excited than nervous, can't wait to get married"

"We'd better get on with it then" Ant beamed as he saw their car pull up the long driveway from the window.

"I just wanted to say Decs" Ant smiled as he placed his hands on Decs shoulders "that I'm really happy for you and Ali,I love ya more than you can imagine and I wish you all the happiness in the world"

"Thanks mate" Dec replied tearfully.

"Stop with the tears kidda" Ant smiled "today is all about being happy"

"Oh,I am happy" Dec smiled "these are happy tears I promise you"

"Good" Ant replied, before leaning in to give Dec a warm hug "let's go and get you married then shall we?"

"Yep" Dec grinned as he pulled out of Ants hold "let's get this show on the road"

As Ant and Dec were driven towards St Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Elswick, the nerves finally started to kick in a little bit for Dec as he saw the waiting crowds.

"Wow" Dec exclaimed "look at all these people"

"You can't be surprised?" Ant questioned "you're a popular guy and you've invited a fair few celebrities too, people love to get a glimpse of the rich and famous, you should know that by now"

"I guess I do" Dec nodded as he climbed out of the car.

He dutifully smiled and waved to the crowd as they cheered and shouted out their best wishes. Some people tried to beckon him and Ant over in an attempt to take selfies with the duo and get autographs, but this wasn't the time or place. This was Decs wedding day,it was all about him and Ali,so the fans would just have to take a backseat this once,Ant and Dec both knew they would understand though.

As Dec walked up the aisle,he couldn't resist stopping to chat to just about everyone. That was a lot of people,so Ant had to give him a gentle nudge in the right direction.

"Come on Decs" he whispered as Dec was happily chatting to television presenter Vernon Kay and his wife Tess Daly "we need to get in position or Ali will reach the top of the aisle before we do"

"Good luck Dec" Vernon called out as Ant practically dragged him away by the arm.

"Just one more minute" Dec grinned,as he obviously had someone else he wanted to speak to.

"Declan" Ant replied firmly "come on"

"Just one more minute" Dec repeated.

Ants stance soon softened as Dec stopped by his mother in the front row.

"Hi Mam" Dec smiled as he embraced Anne "you ok?"

"I'm fine Declan" Anne replied "you look very smart"

"Thanks" Dec beamed "you look nice too"

"How are you feeling?" Anne asked.

"I'm great Mam" Dec assured her "a bit nervous, but more excited than anything"

"Good" Anne nodded, while returning her youngest childs affection.

"I wish Dad could have been here" Dec whispered into her ear.

"Me too son" Anne replied sadly "me too,but he'll be looking down on you with love and pride in his heart"

"I hope so Mam" Dec smiled.

"I know so" Anne insisted "love you"

"Love you too" Dec replied before making his way over to Ant,who was waiting next to Dermott.

Dec grinned, waved and called out greetings to all his close family sat at the front of the church.

"Alright Declan?" Dermott asked affectionately "you ready for this?"

"Absolutely" Dec smiled "and I'm so happy it's you doing this today"

"Me too" Dermott beamed "there is no greater honour than being able to marry my beloved baby brother and his future wife,it's a very special day for me too"

At that precise moment, the wedding march began to play as Ali entered the church and took her position with her father Anthony, ready to walk up the aisle.

"Deep breaths Decs" Ant whispered "you've got this"

Dec turned around as Ali slowly walked towards him and he was blown away by the vision of beauty coming his way.

Ant was right,he really had got this. After many long years of searching for 'The one' and enduring much heartache along the way,Dec knew he really had found her.

He was finally getting married!
