《meet me in the pale moonlight | pantalone》021 - foreshadowing

"mmm, do you want to walk around?" you suggested, plucking the grass out from the ground below you.
at your guys' "secret spot", there was nothing left to do but to enjoy each other's presence. which, you do, but you felt bored.
you knew almost everything about him, so you thought. what more was there to learn about him?
"sure. let's go?"
"yeah,"
walking around a garden, you found yourself admiring the flowers.
"look! it's a glaze lily! it's pretty, right?" you asked pantalone, violently tugging on his arm.
chuckling behind you, he agreed with you. "yeah, the color is really nice."
proudly, you told him, "yeah! my good friend, zhongli, is very knowledgeable about flowers. i ask him every now and then about flowers just 'cause,"
carefully pulling the glaze lily out of the ground, you admired it before putting it in pantalone's ear. you secured the flower between his ear and made sure it wouldn't fall out. stepping back, you admired your work.
"aw you're so pretty!"
"i'm not—"
a voice suddenly called out to you.
"oh? is that you, y/n?"
pantalone stopping his sentence, he turned to the source of the voice.
the owner of a the voice— a tall blue haired male. around his age. looks like expensive. classy.
your voice called out to him.
"ayato?" hesitation was evident in your voice. he noticed the 'ayato' guy smiling brightly before walking up to you and embracing you in a hug.
a hug? who does he think he is?
"um... excuse me..."
you broke out of the hug. "sorry! this is ayato, my friend— i guess. he left the city awhile ago so it's refreshing to see him again."
you guess?
"ah... i see. nice to meet you ayato. i'm pantalone," he said, extending his hand out. ayato smiled back, extending his own arm too.

ayato turned back to y/n, "y/n, we should catch up, yeah? i haven't seen you in ages." y/n excitedly looked up to face him once more. "of course!"
the three of you were sitting at a table in a cafe. y/n and ayato were talking and laughing together, catching up while pantalone was on his phone. his mood deflated after seeing ayato. how did it come to this? he didn't know.
he couldn't even say anything in their conversation anyway. he had no idea what they were talking about most of the time. they were giggling about their past together, things that weren't even funny.
it makes him wonder; what's y/n's relationship with ayato? theres no way they were just friends. y/n even seemed hesitant introducing him to pantalone.
were they past lovers? best friends?
he didn't know.
regardless, every second that passed by, he was getting more annoyed. why would you invite him here if you were going to talk to someone else? why would you invite him here if you were going to act like he wasn't there?
so, he got up and left.
the worst part?
you didn't even notice.

Luck Lockyer
Luck Lockyer was the type of man to smirk in the dark, the expression not for anyone but himself. One of perpetual amusement. The bright side of things were hard to find in the shade yet his amber eyes were always searching. The smirk was his default, he knew it, his friends knew it, his family knew it. It was his most natural state. But the death of everyone close to you can affect a downwards curve on the mouths of even the most stoic people. Without purpose, without anyone to do the job for, Luck Lockyer found himself inside an empty forgotten church. The perpetual smirk on his face had slipped to a thin line, his scar more noticeable now than ever before. His amber eyes, the windows to his soul, dull and lifeless. To anyone who knew him, it was the clothing that gave away his mental state, denim pants and a plain black t-shirt. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church. It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family. That was all he wanted. Simple. It was then, on the outskirts of a polluted city, in an abondoned lot, in a forgotten church that Luck Lockyer, the Devil of the Cards, the Bloodless Hand, the Amber Demon, the Broken, was answered by a being from another world and one from his. *found the picture online

The Spear and The Cross
The World of Marrh has been embroiled in a decades-long struggle between the eventually divided Zurul Horde and the ever-decaying Juman Empire. A war whose causes for carnage have long been forgotten. A half-orc and a human will eventually meet paths, their fates intertwined to save their dying world from their peoples' conflict and from an outsider's interference... Will they succeed, or will they succumb to failure? Only the Divine will truly know. NOTE: I upload chapters (about +2,500 words) on an irregular basis, so don't expect much from me. I write for fun only, and this book is an amateurish attempt at showcasing my world on The Spear and The Cross. If you still want to stick around, then go ahead. Maybe it'll be a fun ride. And also, a big thanks to my artist friend, Milkuii, for the wonderful cover art.
