"Finally, all this trash is organized!" Massie celebrated. She heaved a big sigh before flopping down on her bed.

It had been two days since she arrived at Dark Falls and she had yet to explore the town. These last two days were busy with organizing the house ever since the moving truck came to unload all of their furniture. It was pretty tiring, caring boxes up and down the stairs to her room, and then waiting hours for the cable to be connected. Thankfully the service around here was fast, so they were able to make themselves at home quicker than usual. Then again, they've moved so many times they've gotten used to it. It wasn't as time consuming anymore, but the drag of doing all of it stayed the same.

Massie slid out her purple notebook—her favorite color—and crossed out her jot of move more than ten times off her bucketlist. The list was something she had thought of just a year ago, but already she was determined to do as many things on there as possible.

"Hey Mass, mom says we're going to the super market, want to come?" Lydia chirped, stepping into Massie's room. "Ahh, I see you're doing your suicide list again. Over ten months writing it and you have yet to think up 200 ways. If I were you I would have already come up with over 1,000." Lydia smiled smugly.

"Not very hard to believe, seeing as you're a workaholic in the making. And the only reason I haven't come up with more is because unlike you I have a life." Massie stuck out her tongue and put her notebook away. "Tell mom I'll go, just give me a minute."

Massie shrugged on her sweater and was quickly downstairs within seconds. She was glad to be able to leave the house and explore Dark Falls, even if it was for just a bit. The Wilton family hopped on their midnight-blue jeep and drove off into the busy part of Dark Falls.

"Dad, are you sure this is where the supermarket is?" asked Lydia. The younger sibling stared out the window, wary of her surroundings. Lydia disliked moving, especially when she got used to the area. Massie could tell her sister yearned for a stationary home.

Unlike her, Lydia didn't make friends as quickly, but when she did she held on to them dearly. Massie was more adaptable, making friends wherever she went. She couldn't remember ever having a best friend though. Out of all the schools she'd been to she had only kept contact with one, yet even that had not lasted long.

"Ehh, to tell you the truth no," was her father's reply. After many minutes of going in circles and turning back, they eventually came to find the supermarket. "Well, you learn from your mistakes. At least now we know where some other stores are," he said, humorous, whereas his wife muttered an unamused 'mhm'.

The Dark Falls Supermarket was big, and Massie found herself split away from her family and instead bothered herself by wondering where the big packs of chocolate were.

"Figures, I look for the candy section and find myself in the canned food area."

Massie rolled her eyes and turned around, only to smash into a woman that seemed to be in her early twenties.

The woman tumbled to the floor, smashing a few cans off the shelf. Massie's fast instincts rushed to grabbed them, catching two in each palm and another falling pair. The cans set on top of the ones on her hand. She struggled a bit to make them balance so they wouldn't fall on the woman's head.

"Whoa, nice." The woman complimented when she stood.

She dusted her knee-length skirt and stared down at Massie. She was one of the tallest girls Massie had seen. This said much, as Massie considered herself above average with her 5'8 height—especially since she was a female—but looking at the figure ahead, Massie felt a tiny bit short. She assumed the woman to be about six feet tall.

"Thanks, I used to be in gymnastics before. I quit a year ago," Massie responded. She re-organized the cans on the shelf sloppily, not really caring about their appearance.

"If you'd like you could work at the DF Dinner. I'm a worker there myself and we could use a hand like yours. It's two blocks away from this market. If anything drop by and we'd be happy to have you there. Oh! And my name is Kristin." Kristin took out a hand and Massie shook it.

Massie didn't fail to notice Kristin's beauty, a rather exotic one at that. She had shoulder length black hair that fell over chocolate-brown skin. Big almond shaped eyes, and light pink lips to finish the touch. She wasn't bagged up in the chest region, but her large hips made up for it, also her long beautiful legs. They would've been gorgeous had they not contained a few scratches here and there.

"Name's Massie, and thanks I'll consider your offer. Later." Massie continued on her way, not really interested in the girl's proposition. Who needed a job when your parents could earn the money for you? At the edge of the isle she found Lydia, and almost laughed at her expression.

"Gymnastics? Hmph, nice lie." Lydia shook her head, disapproval written all over.

"Who cares? It was a thing of the moment. Besides, it's not as if I'll become a worker at the blah-blah diner."

"I would if I were you. Mom and Dad aren't paying for new clothes this time, they want to go to some cruise in a few weeks."

"And leave us home alone for days?!" Massie jumped up and down, "YES!"

"How about no. You're under 18, meaning it's illegal to—"

"Listen Lydia, home alone is fun. We stay out for parties and not even have to worry about getting home by 12." Massie snicked "Well, for you it was 10, but no one cares about the law here, and if it eases you I heard in the news that law—thankfully—was taken away." Lydia gave Massie a disbelieving look.

As Lydia helped her sister find the candy section—which happened to be right next to the canned food area—she smirked, because in reality there was no law stating that a person under the age of 18 couldn't be home alone. Just shows Massie's brilliance.

Oblivious, Massie trudged down the isle rather fast, searching for her bag of chocolate before her parents announced it was time to leave. She knew her father would force her to leave with his childish ways even if she wasn't ready.

"Oompf!" Massie was surprised to find she bumped into yet another person, only unlike the previous they did not fall. The objects he held in his arms slipped from his grips, making loud clank noises as they all tumbled to cold tile floor.

"You're like the hundredth person I bumped into today. You should just call this place Falls, period. No "dark" because all I see are things falling today." Massie joked, giggling.

The man sighed, and it was then that Massie was able to look up and take into account his intimidating form. Massie wondered how she hadn't seen him, this dude was a monster. His golden eyes glared at her in annoyance and his full pink lips formed a tight line as he bent to retrieve the objects she had caused to fall. The stranger's bronze skin glowed beneath the store's light, and Massie would've totally given him her number had she not known he was angered with her.

He was more or less Kristin's height, she couldn't remember exactly how tall the woman was, but unlike her this man went for the get-out-my-way-or-I'll-kill-you look as oppose to her nice, welcoming one. How cute. Tough guys made her excited.

"Would you look at that, you're actually pretty hot," Massie murmured, giving him a quick once over.

As much as her hormones opposed, she walked pass him. God forbid her ever seriously pissing him off, he looked like the type that didn't mind hitting a girl. From his well-structured stomach and defined arms, she could easily tell he could pack a good punch, and she didn't want her pretty face ruined.

"Massie! Lydia! Let's go!" Cried their father. Lydia hurried to her mother's side, embarrassed to be even associated with Massie after her recent mess.

Massie on the other hand, kept looking for her favorite chocolate. "Wait, wait, wait just one more second. . ." Her eyes scanned the chocolate bags rapidly, trying to find her preferred brand. Where was it?!

Before she knew it, strong arms picked her up and threw her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "Aww c'mon Dad, I almost found it!" Her father didn't reply, but she knew he had a currently-not-giving-a-shit expression.

"Better for me, now I waste less money," was his reply.

"You suck!"

"I thought that was a woman's job."

Her mother punched him, hard. "You can be such a kid sometimes," she chided, giving him a pointed look as we finally reached the cashier.

Her father laughed sheepishly. "I heard it on television at least five times last night, it just came out," he justified.

After paying the bill they entered the jeep and headed home. Inside, Massie secretly hoped she would be seeing more of the guy she met at the supermarket. At least this placed looked promising in the men's department, she smirked.
