《My Blind Princess》Chapter 5

"That little shit!" Misty screamed as rage filled her veins.
Alana had to explain why they were back earlier than usual to her aunt Misty. Simply because her Uncle Antonio was too afraid to tell her the truth.
Eva simply twiddled her thumbs as she could hear Misty throw and break things downstairs. Alana was only halfway into telling Misty and Amelie what had happened at the castle and so far Misty was raging.
By the sound of it, Misty had thrown a flower vase at the wall.
"I'll Kill him," Misty seethed in anger.
"I. WILL. KILL. HIM"
"Aunt Misty, I haven't finished" Alana whimpered as she tried to finish telling her the whole thing.
Eva sighed and placed a pillow over her head to try and muffle the sounds that came from downstairs. Eva was currently in bed under the covers hiding from the world.
"HE DID WHAT?!" Misty yelled once again.
It was now that Eva had sat up and realized she forgot to tell Alana not to tell her mother that her father had started a war for beating up the prince. Eva sighed out and pulled the pillow onto her head once again when she heard another crash and a few curse words escape the lips of her mother.
Misty was definitely going to kill Antonio. She had been watching a lot of true crime shows recently and knew the perfect way to dispose of his body. If there isn't a body then its just a missing persons report and not murder.
The rage-fueled Misty to go after him. He started a war for beating up a prince who rejected their daughter.
Amelie and Alana watched as the wheels in Misty's head started to turn. She was planning something and it wasn't going to be pretty.
Amelie motioned Alana to move away from Misty since her rage turned her into a bull. She could only see the target in front and nothing else.
Misty walked out of the house with a brisk walk. She was going to murder her husband. When Misty finally managed to get to Alexandrov's Office she stomped the door down like swat.
Antonio rose from his chair as he watched his rage-filled mate in front of him.
"I can explain" Was what Antonio blurted out in fear.
"You started a WAR for beating up a Prince?!" Misty yelled.
"He Rejected Eva! Called her defective like she was some kind of gadget!"
"Then you should have killed him! If you're going to start something you make sure you finish it!" Misty yelled.
She wasn't sure who to be more angry at. The prince for rejecting Eva, Antonio for not killing the Prince, or herself for actually allowing Eva to go to that damn meeting in the first damn place.

Misty knew something bad was going to happen if she allowed Eva to attend that stupid meeting. Her motherly instincts were correct!
"Sweetheart, calm down, we will handle this. I promise you we will handle this." Antonio tried to coo his mate from going completely insane.
Misty took in a couple of deep breaths and tried to calm her racing heartbeat. Right now her main priority had to be her daughter. She had no idea how this rejection affected Eva but she knew she had to be there for her.
Misty took a couple of deep breaths and simply gave Antonio a nod before walking away in a brisk manner. It was time she found Eva and had a heart to heart with her.
Eva sighed out and decided to sit up on the bed. She wasn't in the mood for anything. She didn't understand how she felt. She wasn't sad but she wasn't happy either. It was as if her feelings had been turned off. She didn't even recognize herself.
Deciding to seek comfort in her books and her library Eva climbed out of bed and grabbed her walking stick from the nightstand.
She exited her room and headed straight to the third floor. Eva listened for heartbeats to make sure not to run into anyone. She didn't want to talk to anyone right now. All she wanted to do was sit down on her windowsill and read a good book.
She wanted to be transported somewhere else and be someone else.
When she reached the Library door, she felt out for the Braille lettering that let her know she was at her sanctuary.
Eva pushed the large wooden doors open and walked inside. She set her walking stick down and took a deep breath.
The silence welcomed her. She smiled to herself and walked through the halls of books deciding on what she wanted to read.
The pads of her fingers ran across multiple spines of the books but none called out to her at the moment. It wasn't until her fingers came across a book with no Braille on the spine. She smiled again and pulled the book from its place.
"We meet again" Eva mumbles to herself with a smile.
She knew exactly what book she had in her hands. The memory of the feel of the book against her fingers let her know exactly which book it was.
Eva opened the book and turned through the pages. She let out a deep sigh as she once again knew she wouldn't be able to read it. No indentations on the pages. Just flat pages which mean no way to read the book.
It wasn't until she reached the back of the book and felt a cool plastic stuck to the book. It was a CD, maybe it was an audiobook. Hope rose in Eva as she rushed to the CD player in the middle of the library.

She placed the CD in the tray and pushed the tray in. When no sound came from the speakers Eva turned the knob making the volume rise all the way.
Still nothing. Frustrated Eva ejected the tray and flipped the CD. She once again pushed the tray in and this time there was a slight hum to it. Eva walked to her windowsill and waited for the audiobook to start.
"Oh! Fuck me! Oh yeah! Ah! Ahh!"
"Yes! Yes! Yes, baby fuck me!"
The loud sounds of moaning and groaning filled the quiet Library scaring Eva half to death. THIS WAS NOT AN AUDIO BOOK!
Eva rushed to the speaker to try to keep it from letting any more inappropriate sounds escape. In her hurried state, she couldn't find the Damn button to turn it off.
Eva frantically turned the volume down and tried to relax as she tried to find the eject button.
"Sounds like a party" Misty spoke as she walked towards Eva who had finally managed to turn the damn thing off.
"M-Mom I-I swear I didn't know. I-I" Eva tried to explain.
Misty laughed at the stuttering mess in front of her.
"Relax Eva, it was probably Axel. He was in here earlier. Said he left a gift for you in the library. I'm just surprised you found it." Misty giggled as she looked at the huge blush that was formed on Eva's face.
For a second Misty had forgotten all about the problems on the outside. In here she was just a mother to a beautiful daughter who loved to read.
"That little prick" Eva cursed under her breathe.
"I swear, I'll make him pay"
Misty laughed more at the relationship Eva had with Axel. It was no secret that Axel loved to play pranks on everyone, but he especially loved to play pranks on Eva since she was the only person in the pack aside from his family that could hold him accountable.
Being the Alpha's son had its perks but sometimes he just wanted someone to fight with and being in a Pack who respected the Alpha Family too much to fight back was boring. Axel wanted someone to retaliate. Someone to keep things interesting.
"Where is he?" Eva questioned as she started to walk towards the exit.
Misty quickly pulled Eva back and hugged her daughter.
"Relax, he'll turn up eventually" Misty giggled.
"Now tell me why you were really in here?"
Eva relaxed in her mother's arms but tensed at the question that Misty asked.
"To read" was Eva's nonchalant answer.
"To read? Or to hide away from the world because you don't have a clue how to feel?"
Eva hated when her mother knew exactly what was going on with her. Even Eva didn't understand how she felt but Misty? Misty could read Eva like an open book.
For Eva trying to understand herself and her feelings was like reading the first sentence in a paragraph and having to re-reading the sentence because you weren't paying attention the first time. So you just end up in a cycle of reading the same sentence which then discourages you from finishing the book.
But to Misty... To Misty, reading Eva's emotions was like reading a first-grade level book at a fifth-grade level comprehension. Misty could tell if Eva was having a bad day even before Eva could decide if she was having a bad day or not! It was somewhat inhuman. Call it mother's intuition or psychic ability. To Eva, it was some sort of witchcraft.
"I don't feel sad" Eva mumbled as Misty let her go and both women walked to the windowsill.
"But you don't feel happy either"
"I don't get it. The book on mates said that when a mate is rejected they feel a huge amount of pain. When Martin rejected me... I felt sad, yes but it was more on the fact of what he said about me than the actual rejection itself."
"Honey, you cannot base your feelings on what a book says. The book may say something happens one way but there will always be someone different. An anomaly that changes the perspective of everything."
"But I don't want to be an anomaly. I don't want to be different. Why can't I be normal, mom? Why couldn't I have been born normal like everyone else?"
"Honey, what is your fascination with normal? Normal is boring. Normal people work at a job they hate with people they can't stand because that is the 'Normal' thing to do. Be different. Embrace your difference. Different doesn't mean less. It means more. You are better than Normal. Normal people bow down to you. You are a queen, so lift your head up baby girl don't let that crown slip" Misty spoke as she lifted Eva's chin and wiped a few stray tears from her eyes.
Misty hugged Eva and placed a loving kiss on her daughter's temple. Eva clung onto her mother and held onto her words. Eva knew deep down that Misty was right. She had to embrace who she was no matter what. Screw Martin, he didn't deserve her.

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.

Letters from a Dying World
Times historic are often penned after the fact in the lifeblood of the pitiful, forgotten masses. That roiling, uncountable crush of humanity, they who held the pikes and they who threw down the tyrants. Their veins opened by gazes academic, sharp and cruel, and pecked away at with quills, written out of their own story. The Second Dark Crusade was a time of such poignancy. A time when the light of man waned and flickered, choking in the acrid smoke of its own inadequacy. As befitting of such an age it has been covered more than a capital whore, and so I attempt not to tell that story again. That story of dull, unfeeling analysis. Neither here will you find the browbeating, propagandistic screeds so common in the hands of men, the light of youth still burning behind their eyes. Nay, here I shall attempt to cover fresh ground, not tread on the grave dirt of long dead authors. Here I shall attempt to tell the story of the small lives caught, unbeknownst to them, in the great and torrential downpour that we now call history. Here lies the true story of The Second Crusade. - Loremaster Ip'Qal
