《dream girl ✿ hermione granger》xxvi. "cheat on your partner" day

In her whole life, Erin Mckinnon was never so happy.

Getting her Hogwarts letter, getting an E on Herbology, becoming friends with Luna, Daphne, and Astoria, seeing Hope Sandoval, who Erin had a little crush on, and David Roback live in London. . . Erin could name so much more moments when she felt happy but none of them could ever compare to the way she felt when she and Hermione told each other that they love the other.

When Erin realized she was a lesbian, she got scared. When she was much younger, she dreamed about falling in love with a boy, having a big wedding with him, and raising their children. She got scared because she knew she would never experience that and she thought she would never find another girl with whom they'd be in love.

Erin knew that there were other girls who loved girls in Hogwarts but she couldn't force herself to fall in love with them just because of their sexuality.

When Hermione told Erin that she was not into girls, Erin wanted to give up. However, something inside of her told her not to and she was glad she didn't.

"What are you so smily about?" Astoria asked when they were in Erin's dorm, waiting for Daphne to come back from wherever she was at the moment. "Is it about a certain Gryffindor girl who's the brightest witch of her age?"

"Mhm," Erin hummed, still dreamily looking at the ceiling above her bed where she lied.

"So, like, what happened?" Astoria asked. "Daphne said you two most likely had sex because of your suspiciously messy hair that you had on breakfast and you said that you were with Hermione before."

"We did not have sex," Erin paused. "Yet."

"So?"

"I told her I love her and she said she loves me back."

Astoria threw her homework behind herself and climbed into bed with Erin.

"That's amazing! How did that happen?"

"Well, I don't usually kiss and tell, but me and Hermione made out in the library, I then gave her a birthday present - the bracelet and ring that I showed you - and I apologized that it's just that and she said that I could give her paper rings and she would still love it and treat it like diamonds."

Astoria looked as if she was going to cry out of happiness as she let out an "Aww."

"Yeah, I know," Erin smiled. "Well, and then I just said it. Out of nowhere. I didn't even plan it. Oh and by the way, Madam Pince was there and I didn't even notice her when I said it."

The younger Slytherin scrunched her nose. "Is she anti-homo?"

"No. When Hermione told me she loves me, too, Pince thanked Rowena Ravenclaw as if she had to do anything with it."

"Hm, at least you didn't get your big moment ruined."

"Yeah."

Silence prevailed between the two girls for about a minute before Astoria said, "Can I tell you something?" It didn't sound as if it was something stupid. She sounded very much seriously, as if someone died.

"Of course, you can. What's up?"

"Before I tell you, I need you to promise me that you won't tell another person. Not even your Agnetha poster."

Erin gasped. "But, Tori, Agnetha knows things that no one will ever know."

"Erin, I'm serious."

The redhead sighed. "I solemnly swear that I will never tell anyone or anything what are you just about to tell me."

"Thank you." Astoria paused. "Me and Luna are dating."

Erin quickly sat up, completely shocked by her friend's confession. She remembered thinking that but she then thought they were just a bit more friendlier and soon she even forgot about all of it.

"You and Luna?" Erin asked, looking down at Astoria who found the ceiling rather interesting. "You and Luna Lovegood? Our friend Luna?"

"No, me and Luna Leopold." Astoria rolled her eyes.

"Who the fuck is Luna Leopold?"

"Honestly, I don't know, I just heard his name somewhere."

"But- But you are dating Luna Lovegood!"

"Yes, I know that!"

"How the fuck did that happen?"

"Well . . ."

It was morning twenty-fourth December of nineteen-ninety-five at the Greengrass mansion. It was quiet; Astoria and Daphne's parents were on their daily morning walk and Daphne and Erin were outside playing in the snow like little children. Astoria and Luna decided to stay inside as the Ravenclaw wasn't feeling very well that morning.

"You should have gone outside," said Luna. "I'd be doing quite alright on my own. My dad is going to be here anytime soon."

"It's okay, I didn't want to go outside, anyway." Lie. She wanted to go outside but she would much rather spent time with Luna.

"Thank you, Tori." Luna smiled warmly. "You're my best friend. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Best friend. The word rang in Astoria's head like a fucking cacophony, reminding her that that's all her and Luna will ever be.

Astoria wasn't sure when she started liking her best friend. She was always a bit closer with her than with Erin or even her own sister. It was actually at Yule Ball when she realized that she doesn't seen Luna in "she's so beautiful, I wanna look like her" kind of way but in "she's so beautiful, I want to kiss her" kind of way. It was just the way Astoria and Luna danced together and laughed so loud that people around them looked as if they escaped madhouse.

Minutes later, they both lied in Astoria's bed and, for some reason staring into each others' eyes.

The Slytherin always admired the Ravenclaw's eyes. With Luna's bright blonde hair, looking like the Sun and her eyes blue like the ocean, she looked so dreamy.

"Tori?" she whispered so quietly that Astoria almost didn't hear it.

"Y-yeah?"

"Can I kiss you?"

"Luna Lovegood asked you if she can kiss you?"

"Erin, don't interrupt!"

Astoria, without answering, leaned closer to Luna and placed her kiss on the blonde's.

"Luna!" Erin shouted from the garden. "Your dad is here!"

The girls pulled apart, both a but annoyed at the interruption.

They didn't talk about it until February.

"If I knew you two were making out up the stairs, I wouldn't interrupt," said Erin after a moment if silence. "I wouldn't let anyone to your room until you two would come out."

"I know, Erin, I'm not mad at you."

"Does anyone else know?"

Astoria nodded. "Ginny Weasley. Oh, don't give me that look! She only knows because she caught us kissing. Luna asked me if we can keep it a secret and I promised her that because I love her. Therefore, I would do anything for her but. . . I just needed to talk to someone about it. Promise me you won't tell anyone!"

"I already promised," Erin said. "So. . . You love her?"

"Yeah, I think so, yeah." Astoria shook her head. "Anyway, where is my sister?"

And so, Erin decided to look for her best friend. What she didn't expect to see in the common room was Theodore Nott to be pressed against the wall by someone who truly was not Daphne. It was. . .

"Nott!" she spoke angrily.

The boy quickly pushed Blaise Zabini away from him and fixed his hair and clothes.

"Oh, hello, Erin," he greeted with a smile, behaving as if nothing happened.

"Care to explain what the fuck are you doing here?" She crossed her arms on her chest, a murderous look on her face.

"Ehm. . . No?" Theodore sent her a nervous toothy smile.

"I swear to Merlin," Erin moved forward, forming her hands into fist. "Want a kiss with a fist?"

Nott quickly hid behind Blaise who only rolled his eyes.

"Daphne knows about us," he explained.

She scoffed. "Oh, she knows? And she would still let you guys do that?"

Both Blaise and Theodore nodded.

"Look, I'm not stupid," said Erin. "I refuse to believe that she knows about this and decided to do absolutely nothing."

Nott shrugged. "Ask her. Last time I saw her, she was in the library."

Erin arrived to the library. It was quiet as it always was. She looked around, to see if she could spot Daphne or someone who would know where she was. She walked further into the library, looking at all sides. That was when she spotted a strand of blonde hair behind one of the bookshelves.

Erin picked up her pace. She wasn't sure if it was Daphne but it was a great possibility.

"Oh, come on!" She let out a groan at the sight of her best friend snogging Ron Weasley. "Is it national "cheat on your partner" day?"

Daphne quickly pulled away from Ron, face red.

"What is going on here?" Erin asked angrily. "Why were Nott and Zabini snogging in the Slytherin common room and why are you snogging here with Ronald Billius Weasley?"

"I'll explain it, just calm down!" Daphne whispered, looking around them at obviously staring students.

"I am completely calm!" retorted Erin.

Ron nervously laughed. "I should probably go."

The blonde nodded. "Yea-"

"No, you stay right here." Erin eyed him up and down then took his hand and lead him to the nearest empty table. She sat him on the chair and looked directly into his eyes. "As Daphne's platonic soulmate, I need to make sure about few things." Ron quickly bobbed his head. "Do you, Ronald Billius Weasley, have good intentions with Daphne Isabel-"

"Isobel."

"- Greengrass?"

"Yes, I do," said Ron.

"Say it."

The boy sighed, looking behind Erin at Daphne for help.

"I, Ronald Billius Weasley, have very good intentions with Daphne Isobel Greengrass."

"Swear?"

Ron gulped and once again, nodded. "I- I swear."

"Good. One more question. If you ever hurt my best friend, do you allow me to make you lose the ability to have children?" Erin asked.

The boy wanted to shake his head but the look on Daphne's face told him otherwise. Once again, he nodded.

"Good. You're free to go."

Erin watched Ron walk away with suspicious look.

"Why did you do that?" Daphne raised an eyebrow. "You have never done that to Theodore."

"What?" Erin questioned. "Oh, yeah, I have never done that to Theodore, yeah, definitely." She cleared her throat. "Anyway, young lady, you have some explaining to do."

Daphne took a deep breath and took a seat on the chair where Ron sat. She motioned for her best friend to sit down on the opposite chair. Once Erin did, Daphne asked, "What do you want to know?"

"Nott told me that you knew about him and Zabini. Is that true?"

Daphne nodded. "Yes, he told me he had feelings for Blaise. We broke up the same day and since then, he is seeing Blaise. Theo later asked if there was any possibility we could pretend that we're dating just so people wouldn't be suspicious."

"And you agreed to that?"

"Of course, I did. I really liked him and even if he didn't feel the same, he was still a friend and I wanted to help him. And then that sleepover at the burrow happened."

Erin put her head in her hands and said, "If you'll tell me you two shagged, put a warning."

Daphne rolled her eyes. "We didn't. I woke up in the middle of the night and went downstairs to get a glass of water-"

"That's how it always starts."

The blonde glared. "Anyway, he was already there and we just started talking. I told him about Theodore because I now admit that it was eating me alive and I know you must be angry at me for not telling you but sometimes it feels better to tell your problems to someone who you barely know and who barely knows you."

Erin shook her head. "No, that's okay. I understand."

Daphne smiled. "And that's why you're my best friend."
