《Growing Attached To My Competition ✔️》Chapter 84 - Change Of Plans

'I am not getting sick...' Adrian thought to himself whilst sitting at the diner with his friends.
"You alright babe? You're looking a bit pale." Brody asked out of concern, as he then rested his hand on Adrian's forehead to feel his temperature.
Adrian gritted his teeth as he nodded his head, mentally pushing away the food in front of him that looked like a grease pile to him. "Peachy. Think I'm still full from lunch."
Adam laughed at the preposterous claim. "You're never full."
"Then I'm watching my weight to fit into my swim suit." Adrian joked.
Also with the boys, Ashley was flabbergasted that Brody bought them both a trip away. "I actually can't believe you're both leaving for Paris tomorrow!"
Brody smiled modestly as he shied away from the spotlight on his romantic gesture. Meanwhile Adam was poking fun at them. "Me neither. Thank god we only went with a small gift, there's no way we're both that crazy like you two."
Ashley seemed to agree as she nodded her head. "I think we're more chilled."
Adrian felt the palms of his hands become sweaty, despite simultaneously shivering with the layers he was wearing.
No one else seemed to detect Adrian's distressed state, as he made an excuse to go to the bathroom.
Alone with Adam and Ashley, Brody turned towards them and looked at them apprehensively. "You don't think he's having seconds doubts do you?"
They both looked at each other and shook their heads. "No way, Adrian was talking my ears off this morning, he's definitely excited for it." Adam told them.
"Maybe he's developed a fear of flying?" Brody asked weakly.
"He's been on a plane before, and he said he's not a nervous flier or anything. Maybe he's just too excited that he can't contain himself." Ashley made up.
In the bathroom, Adrian splashed some water on his face to try and cool himself down.
Adrian cursed at himself whilst looking in the mirror. "You're not getting sick right now, you idiot. You are not ruining the holiday, so get a hold of yourself..."
Adrian slapped his own face to psych himself up, flinching because of the pain slightly, before going back to his friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"We're all packed mom, don't worry." Adrian shouted from upstairs before he closed the door behind him.
With the flight in the early morning, Brody was already waiting for him in bed. With the empty spot besides him, Adrian fit himself onto the bed so that he could lean against Brody.
Brody was going through a checklist which made sure they both had an ample amount of time to prepare for any delays that they might come across. It was a perk from having a super organised boyfriend, Brody made sure they were prepared for everything and anything.
"In a couple of hours, we will be flying to a different country." Brody grinned as he grew excited about their trip.
Adrian wanted to smile with Brody, he really was looking forward to going away on a romantic holiday with his boyfriend.
But Adrian knew he hasn't been feeling great all day.
When he woke up alone in the morning and got out of the bed, Adrian almost collapsed because the room was spinning for a good 5 minutes.
However he put on a brave face when Brody came back from his shower, and smiled along whilst pretending he was feeling fine.
Then during the afternoon, a mild cough with a pounding headache worsened his mood. Adrian thought it probably meant nothing, he narrowed it down to eating too much at Christmas.
Throughout the day Adrian braved out the storm that was about to cause him to throw up, he thought he just had to sleep through it so that it could go away.
"Come on, let's go to bed. We got an early flight." He told Brody as they turned the light off.
When Brody wrapped his body around him, Adrian felt his own body burning like a furnace that was stuffed with coal and blazing for 10 hours already.
"Night babe." Brody whispered to the back of Adrian's head.
"Good night." Adrian hoped.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Adrian was restless as he had been ignoring the sinking feeling in his stomach that felt like his insides were on fire - making him unable to sleep.
He managed to build a dam that suppressed everything he was feeling that remotely related to him being ill.
But the dam broke as he was now running towards the bathroom in middle of the night, hoping he made it to the toilet before he left a trail of vomit in his path.
If the motion of Adrian getting out of bed didn't wake up Brody, then the sound surely did.
The sweat was already pouring out of Adrian's skin when Adrian started throwing up. His forehead and the rest of his body were trying to sweat the flu away when Adrian realised that he was a goner.
"Adrian?" Brody called out from the other side of the door.
Adrian felt himself purge again, with his insides splaying out into the toilet. "In a minute!" He managed to choke out before he continued vomiting.
Brody let himself through the door and saw Adrian already hunched over the toilet bowl. He immediately went to put his hand on Adrian's forehead, but was batted away when Adrian felt that his hand was too hot.
"You're not alright, are you?" Brody said out loud, mostly as a form of acceptance rather than a question.
"I feel like my intensities are going to come out of my throat at this rate." Adrian manage to let out before he continued throwing up.
Brody tried to ease the atmosphere in the room by laughing it off. "That's not how biology works, babe."
Adrian was too sick to try and quip back, as he stayed hunched over the toilet bowl for another wave of a painful vomit hurl.
"We're not making it to the flight tomorrow, are we?"
Brody's question was answered when Adrian immediately felt the wave of him throwing up again. The visual and sound effects confirmed this as Adrian was attempting to battle the demon that was taking over his body.
All Brody could do was stay on the sidelines, soothingly rub Adrian's back in attempt to help relieve the pain, and let everything out.
~~~~~~~~~~~
They had spent an hour in the bathroom, even Sally and Ollie came in to check on them.
Adrian was in no fit state to fly, yet alone go away on a holiday. So in the middle of the Adrian's throwing up phases, Brody managed to quickly give away their tickets to Adam and Ashley, explaining how Adrian came down with the flu.
Now attending to his boyfriend, Brody covered Adrian's forehead with a cold and damp towel in order to try and reduce his temperature, whilst also wiping away the sweat that was leaking out of his body.
"I'm sorry." Adrian apologised, as he felt too weak to even open his eyes and look at Brody.
Brody sighed as he knew that they were both disappointed he fell ill. "I know babe, we'll just have to go another time."
Running his hand through Adrian's damp hair, all Brody could do was wish the pain away that Adrian was dealing with.
With Adrian in an uncomfortable position in the bathroom, Brody hoped that Adrian could at least stand up and make it back to the comfy bed.
"Too dizzy... might throw up..."
"That's fine, we'll stay in here for a bit until you feel better." Brody whispered soothingly in order to not make Adrian's headache worse.
But Adrian made it worse himself by insisting to shake his head. "You go back to bed, I'll be with you in a bit."
Brody grossed Adrian out by kissing him on the temple. "I'm not going anywhere without you."
~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time Adrian managed to doze off from the exhaustion, Brody carried his boyfriend back into his bedroom and gently laid him down onto the bed.
Placing a pack of ibuprofen and a glass of water by his bed, Brody continued to wipe Adrian down with the damp towel.
Brody was relieved that Adrian managed to get a couple hours of sleep. He himself slept on the floor so that Adrian had all the space to feel comfortable, without the added body heat making his temperature burn like the sun.
But even in his ill state, Adrian missed the spot of the person that always slept next to him. "Brody?"
Brody shot up from the floor and looked towards Adrian on the bed. "You okay? You need anything?"
"Can you come back in the bed?" Adrian whined, "I can't sleep without you here."
Brody snickered as the last couple of hours proved that wrong. "You not worried about infecting me?" Brody joked.
Adrian blew his nose and let out a sniffle with a light cough. "I promise I'll try my best not to infect you?"
Brody didn't care about catching the flu from Adrian, and he wasn't bothered that he was probably destined to share the same sick fate as Adrian either.
Because he just wanted Adrian to feel better. So Brody climbed onto the bed and hugged him close. Even if it helped Adrian by just a tiny amount, then Brody was willing to risk it all.
"Thank you." Adrian whispered as he went back to close his eyes.
When Brody softly kissed Adrian on the lips, Adrian was alarmed as he quickly pushed him away. "Okay, now it is totally your fault if you get sick now."
"Worth it."
~~~~~~~~~~
24 hours later and it was still worth it. Brody felt as right as rain as he continued waiting in on Adrian's needs. It was a miracle he didn't fall ill, otherwise they were both going to be in trouble.
Brody fulfilled the role as a nurse and a boyfriend. He always brought up food, fluids, and medicine to Adrian so that he would be in a strong, fighting state soon enough.
Brody reduced the effects of their annoying surroundings by blocking out all the sound and light that made Adrian feel worse.
And Brody even ran a bath for Adrian who felt all sweaty and gross. It wasn't asked for, but Brody got the pleasure of helping bathe Adrian again - only this time it was purely a caring purpose.
Piles of used tissue were stacked in the bin as Adrian's nose became red and swelled up from constantly blowing it.
Ollie was cuddled onto Adrian's lap as he sensed his owner was unwell. Even his puppy dog face and cute kisses wasn't enough to aid Adrian's recovery just yet, so he adopted to just lay on his lap instead.
"Ashley and Adam seem to be enjoying themselves right now." Brody told Adrian as he showed him the picture they took at the Eiffel Tower. "Lucky bastards."
Adrian only chuckled a little bit because everything was still hurting. "I'm really sorry again."
Brody wrapped his arm around Adrian's shoulders as they were laying in bed together again. "I know it's not your fault babe."
"Maybe we can do something else?" Adrian suggested in between sniffles.
"You can barely make it downstairs." Brody laughed. "Just get some rest, Adrian."
Following his boyfriend's orders, Adrian moved to rest his head against Brody's chest. "I know you could have went to Paris without me. So thanks, for not leaving me."
Brody pretended like he thought about the decision for a very long time. "I mean after all the money I spent, I was totally thinking about ditching you to paint someone else like a french girl."
The joke didn't seem to go all to well with Adrian, so he quickly apologised for his sarcasm and dry humour. "You know I wouldn't leave you behind." Brody told Adrian assuringly.
"It wouldn't be too awful if I kissed you now, right?" Adrian asked. He just really wanted to give his boyfriend affection for taking care of him and trying to make him laugh.
Brody laughed with his whole body because he never needs to ask. Regardless, he still made a joke out of the unlucky situation. "With all the money I spent, a quick kiss is the least amount I should get."
Quickly pulling his boyfriend close, Brody kissed Adrian to show that he really was happy that he stayed behind to look after Adrian. Being in a foreign country, surrounded by strangers and random food, all of it didn't mean as much if Adrian wasn't by his side.
~~~~~~~~~~
The next afternoon, Adrian was already feeling so much better.
The sniffles had went down dramatically, the fever calmed down a little bit, the nausea was very minimal, and the dizzy spells were virtually non-existent.
With everything looking more positive, Brody had a plan that was set in motion as soon as Sally left for work.
Adrian was forbidden from going downstairs just yet, so he had to communicate with Brody over the phone.
"Can I come down yet? I'm getting hungry." Adrian whined on an empty stomach.
"5 more minutes," Brody laughed, "I promise the surprise will be worth it."
Brody couldn't help but chuckle when he heard Adrian pace himself inside his bedroom, along with several huffs over the phone.
"Adam and Ashley said they'll be back tomorrow by the way, they said they got souvenirs for us - for giving our trip away."
"That's nice of them." Brody replies. "How much you want to bet it's something like a fridge magnet?"
"Oh most definitely." Adrian laughed.
Adrian turned his head to see the door open, with Brody popping his head through the door and seeing his phone against his ear.
"Okay it's all ready."
Brody quickly hung up the phone and dashed down the stairs, leading Adrian to slowly chase his boyfriend.
When his foot hit the bottom of the stairs, Adrian's vision suddenly became dark when he felt Brody's soft hands cover his eyes.
"What's this?" Adrian laughed.
"No peeking, but you have to follow me." Brody told him as he helped escort him to the living room.
After a countdown, Brody released his hold on Adrian and let him see everything in front of him.
Adrian was completely star struck at everything that was in front of him. With a lights dimmed low in a romantic setting, Adrian immediately noticed the screensaver of the Eiffel Tower on the TV.
The room was decorated with flags of France, framed pictures of famous landmarks were displayed on the mantel piece, and a table was centred in the room with a bunch of different food that was popular in France.
A cheeseboard accompanied by a selection of wine, sweet and delicate macarons with all sorts of colours, and different types of bread that smelled like they were freshly baked were all in front of Adrian's grasp.
Adrian looked at Brody with sparkles in his eyes. "Brody..."
Brody silenced Adrian by putting his hand in the air. He then played the music on his phone, with a delicate voice singing in French coming out of the sound system.
"If we couldn't go to Paris, then why don't I bring Paris to us."
Brody forced a speechless Adrian to sit down. As he poured them a glass of wine, Brody was still sweetly smiling at Adrian as he was extremely proud of himself for setting this all up in a short amount of time.
"What do you think? I mean I know it's not the real thing, but this was the best I could do with google and the local supermarket." Brody laughed.
"Brody... I don't know what to say..."
"Try this." Brody picked up a pink macaron and fed Adrian. "Maybe this will sweeten the deal."
Adrian tasted the treat and he thought it was delicious. Sweet, fluffy, and beautiful - just like his boyfriend.
"I can't believe you did all of this." Adrian whispered perplexed. "It's one of the nicest and sweetest things anyone has ever done for me."
Brody took a hold of Adrian's hand and kissed it. "You deserve the best Adrian."
Adrian couldn't feel any luckier because he was in a deep and loving relationship with Brody. If he didn't somehow think he hit the jackpot before, then Adrian was now sure he won the grand prize.
"And I've got you, everything's perfect." Adrian told Brody lovingly.
Smiling back at each other at heart's content, they both stood up together and held each other close.
With their bodies pressed together, they swayed along to the music in the background, as they both took everything in whilst silently enjoying each other's presence.
Moving together, feet alongside feet and heartbeat against heartbeat, Adrian couldn't be any more happier than he was now.
Everything felt like a dream, and everything was too perfect.
Adrian looked into Brody's eyes and could see he felt the same. With one more passionate filled kiss, both of them continued to softly dance to the music, cherishing everything they had together.
