《Growing Attached To My Competition ✔️》Chapter 38 - Mother And Son

Adrian discarded the coffee cups in the kitchen bin as he and Brody came back to his home, last seeing Adam and Ashley at the coffee shop.

Adrian washed his hands in the sink and then joined Brody in the living room. Brody was still standing by the side when Adrian pushed him onto the couch. Adrian was still feeling a little bit possessive as he latched onto Brody's lips, straddling him on the couch.

Adrian explored Brody's mouth as he glided his tongue against the seam of Brody's lip, pushing through and going deeper as he wrapped his arm around Brody to pull him closer.

Brody was left wanting more as Adrian moved to his neck. Adrian was leaving marks all over Brody's neck when Brody spoke up.

"You know, I may be, all confident and flirty around others. But it's not the same, when I'm with you." Brody moved to hold Adrian's head in his hands, focussing Adrian's attention on him as Brody was too distracted with Adrian's lips on him. He wanted to be clear with Adrian that's he's only flirting with Adrian. "With you, I mean it."

In this relationship, both of them kept reassuring their feelings for each other. Today was no different.

"Brody, I get why you're trying to tell me this right now. I know I can easily get jealous, but I'm not asking you to change or anything. I like you for how you are now, it's the whole package with you and that's who I fell for. I just hope you can bare through my stupid jealousy sometimes."

Brody nudged his nose against Adrian, smiling at him affectionately before pulling him in a soft kiss.

Adrian looked back at Brody and saw his eyes elsewhere, bulging out in shock. Slightly alarmed, Adrian followed his eyesight to see his mom by the front door, clearly able to see their whole exchange as Adrian was still sitting on top of Brody and clinging on to him.

"Mom!"

Adrian quickly jumped off Brody and stood up on the spot, alarmed and panicking as he felt like he couldn't move.

"W-w-what are you doing back?"

"I came back to get my uniform." Sally spoke so monotonously that Adrian didn't know what emotions she was thinking, or what she was even feeling.

"Me and Brody, we were, umm- we were..." Adrian didn't know what to say, all he could think about was how he could do damage control and not make this end in a mess.

But he didn't know what to say.

"Brody, can I talk to my son, alone?"

Brody could only be humble as he nodded, leaving to go up to Adrian's room. Passing by the stairs, Brody tried to give Adrian a reassuring look, giving him the support he needed to get through this.

~~~~~~~~~~
Sally poured them both a glass of water as they sat down together in the kitchen. Adrian quickly drank all of it before he started playing with the glass in his hand, tapping his finger against it constantly.
With it bugging her too much, she took the glass out of his hand. "Sorry." Adrian apologised.
Adrian was now twiddling with his fingers, trying to avoid looking into his mother's eyes as he was scared to see what was behind them.
Sally coughed nervously as she didn't know where to start. "So, you and Brody huh?"
Adrian reluctantly nodded his head, not ashamed because he was with Brody, but scared of how she was going to react.
"Adrian honey, I'm going to need you to talk to me."
Adrian looked up and saw that his mother was begging for him to open up, her eyes alone reflected that.
"We're a couple, it's been around a month now." Adrian spoke so softly and quietly that Sally questioned if she even heard him say something.
Sally was watching her son and could see how it was like he was withdrawing himself from her.
Raising an only child as a single mom was a difficult challenge, Sally was always worried that she wasn't enough for her son, that she couldn't provide him with everything he needed as a young boy. Growing into a young man, Sally had no experience with bringing one up.
One of her biggest fears was that the mother and son would be closed off from each other, keeping their lives a secret and separate.
Sally was still silent when Adrian told her, "I'm gay mom."
Sally was tearing up as she started crying.
Because the son that she felt so close with, didn't feel like he could come forward with the fact that he had a boyfriend. All Sally wanted was the best for her son, for him to be happy.
Yet he was keeping it a secret, why?
Was he scared of how she would react?
Did Adrian really feel like he couldn't come to her, about anything?
Ever since her husband and Adrian's father died, it was always them two together - against the world.
But now Adrian was seeing it different. He didn't want to watch his mom cry anymore, he finally came out to her and she was crying.
Adrian moved to leave the kitchen when Sally pulled her son into a hug.
Sally held her son so tightly that Adrian felt like he was suffocating. But this was a good feeling, because she still cared. And so Adrian returned the hug and held her tightly.
~~~~~~~~~~

After tears were wiped away from the both of them, Sally was smiling at her son, happy for him.

"So, you have a boyfriend!" Sally was definitely more cheerful, celebrating out loud and proudly.

Adrian was still sniffling as he smiled back at her. "Yeah, yeah I do. I have a boyfriend."

"Come here baby." Sally pulled her son into another hug.

"Okay mom, now I feel like I'm being suffocated." Adrian mumbled into her shoulder. After letting him go, "So you don't, like, hate me or anything? You don't think I'm disgusting, or a let down or anything?"

Sally couldn't help it and smacked her son. "How could you ever think I would feel like that about my own son, Adrian?"

Adrian shrugged his shoulders, truly not sure why he was afraid to tell his mother in the first place. It was not like he was brought up in a bigotry household. "I don't know, with dad gone I had to be the man of the house. To grow up with my own wife and kid someday."

"Sweetie, you're 18! It's too soon to talk like that." Sally laughed, "And you can still have a family one day, who said it needs to be with a woman."

"With your dad not around, I was always worried with how you would grow up. There were things your dad knew and wanted to teach you. But he didn't have enough time to teach you, like shaving, football, girls - well, boys now."

Adrian laughed at that last bit.

"I just never wanted you to feel like I wasn't here for you, when I am sweetheart, always and forever."

Adrian felt all the love wash over him as his mom talked so honestly and openly with him. He was truly loved by his mother, and he loved her too as he told her that.

After the emotional talk settled down, "So, if we're both in the house together, or even outside or something, you would be fine if we acted like, actual boyfriends? We won't have to hide if we don't want to?" Adrian tested the waters, wanting to be clear where they stood in all of this.

Sally pinched her son's cheeks. "You can't go into a relationship and constantly be worried about the worst, otherwise how could you enjoy anything? Just live your life and do what you want - within reason of course, and nothing illegal or anything like that." Sally added.

Sally cleared her throat, "Now, we need to talk about sex, you know the birds and bees and all that."

~~~~~~~~~~~
Adrian was 18 years old, and he didn't need to have 'the talk' with his mom. They both knew that Adrian understood the extend of what he needed to know. Sally emphasised safety, protection and commitment with the other person, all the things that Adrian was sure about already.
When Adrian walked into his room, Brody immediately stood up from the chair and stood in front of Adrian.
"Hey how did it go?" Brody asked, too nervous about what they were talking about for so long.
Adrian gave Brody a reassuring and calming smile, "Everything's great between us, there was never anything to worry about."
Brody immediately sought out a hug as he embraced Adrian, so relieved and glad that Adrian wasn't rejected of any sorts by his mother.
Finally letting go, Adrian kissed Brody gently. "I need you to come down for a minute."
"How come?"
Adrian didn't reply to Brody using his words, he led him down the stairs and stood across from Sally who was in the kitchen.
Holding Brody's hand and standing side by side, "Mom, this is my boyfriend." Adrian said, formally introducing his mom to his boyfriend, the two of the most important people in his life right now.
