《Growing Attached To My Competition ✔️》Chapter 29 - The Blue Monkey

Author's note: Okay, so as of 24 hours ago (26/4/20), there was a massive spike in popularity with this book for some reason that I have no idea why to be frank.
From having no ranking in the lgbt category to being ranked #1 is just insane! I have no idea what happened, how Wattpad calculates all of that but I have assume that's what brought in more readers. (It's gone back to normal now).
The amount of reads tripled, there are a lot more upvotes overall and more comments too (which I was alright before, some people prefer not to comment I guess which I understand).
So the point of this little message is just to say thanks! To all the new readers who made it this far, thanks for reading and welcome to my story!
And to all of my older readers that found this story a long time ago (who some of the names and the profile pictures I do recognise a lot when it comes up onto my feed), thanks for sticking around, and upvoting the chapters.
So overall, thanks everyone! It's made me excited and happy that my story is fairly popular(?)
Anyway, I hope you are all enjoying where the story is going, and continue to read, upvote, comment, or whatever you want.
And one last thing, I would like some opinions whether to make this story more mature or not (i.e. sex etc), some time down the line. I'm kind of 50/50 with the choice, I believe there's more storytelling by making the story mature, but then again not everyone likes those scenes (plus I've barely written anything mature before so I wouldn't know if it's good or not). So thoughts and opinions would be great.

*Back to the story

Adrian still had another hour left on his shift as he served a vegetarian pizza to the elderly couple in the corner. With courtesy and politeness Adrian walked away from them after serving them their food.
Looking around the restaurant and seeing that his co-workers could temporarily hold down the fort, Adrian went into the back and took his phone out.

Clicking on the name on his phone, Adrian called him. When he heard the other person on the line, "Brody, hey it's Adrian." Adrian called out on the phone.
Adrian heard rustling noises and a door close on the other end of the phone before Brody spoke again, "Hey babe, what's up?"
That was the first time Brody called Adrian 'babe', and Adrian liked it. Adrian liked it a lot as he felt slightly moved by the term of endearment. Dare he say he felt a little bit giddy about it?
"Adrian?" Brody called out for him again after the line went quiet from his end.
Suddenly remembering he was on the phone with Brody, "Yeah sorry, umm I'm here still," He said trying his best to cover the silence, "Just wanted to hear about what you did today."
"Wow, are you really getting all domestic on me here Adrian? I have to say, I kind of like this." Brody laughed as he admitted it, settling himself onto the bed.
Adrian was laughing in the back room of the restaurant. "Hey shut up, just humour me and tell me already while I still have time."
"Fine fine fine. There isn't really much to tell, I read a little bit, I ate some more and I slept a lot."
Adrian was moving some stuff around the shelves to look like he was busy, in case someone told him off for being on his phone during work hours. "Uh huh, and did you remember to take your meds?"
"My sides are feeling a lot better, barely had to take any of my meds."
"That's great to hear." Adrian said, he was glad Brody was showing signs of recovery so quickly, he didn't expect any less from Brody.
"So, how were things with Adam? Did he take everything alright?"
Adrian was glad Adam took it all so well. When he left his house there was a great sense of relief from being accepted by his best friend. Now the only other important person he had to tell was his mother, now that he was unsure of when and how he was going to do it.

"Probably the best way I could imagine, he had an inkling for a while but you leaving one too many hickeys gave it all away I reckon."
Brody was laughing from where he was sitting, all too happy about how they were caught out. "Maybe I can't help it, from what I remember neither of us were certainly complaining..."
Adrian felt like the room was getting a little too warm going down memory lane, he certainly wasn't complaining about how much he enjoyed it.
Just then, one of Adrian's co-workers came into the back room to fetch Adrian. Their boss noticed that he was missing and he was soon called back to work.
Adrian spoke softly to Brody after that conversation. "Hey, I've got to go before I get my ass yelled at, I'll see you soon yeah?"
"Alright babe, I'm going to go to bed, see you soon."
Brody hung up the phone as they ended the conversation.
There it was again, babe. Adrian loved hearing that coming from Brody, it felt like he had some security in his relationship, and it made him feel very happy.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Adrian knocked on the door as he had finished work. Quickly rushing home to shower and gather some belongings he waited as he heard someone unlock the door.
Adrian was greeted by an expecting Ashley at the door, opening it for him and welcoming him inside their home.
"Sorry I'm late, I had to go home first after work before I got here."
Ashley closed the door behind them. "No worries."
Adrian handed Ashley the pizza box that he was carrying with him. "As promised, for letting me in."
"I didn't need swaying but I'll happily accept this." Ashley was excited about the delicious food in front of her. Already grabbing a slice from the box, she ate it with equal enthusiasm.
Ashley pointed at the object Adrian was holding. "What's with the toy?" She asked in between bites.
Feeling a little shy about the reason behind it, he looked away from her awkwardly whilst feeling flustered. "It's for Brody."
Adrian watched as her face morphed into an expression similar to when a mother sees her child take their first steps.
He then walked away from her as Adrian didn't want to see or hear her swoon over how cheesy and disgustingly sweet he was being with this gesture.
Carefully entering the bedroom, Adrian closed the door behind him. Adrian approached the sleeping Brody to wake him up, not wanting him to be startled when he unexpectedly woke up with someone in his bed.
Adrian gently shook him awake softly, using the teddy in front of him to prod him awake.
Brody turned over as he opened his eyes to see Adrian in front of him, holding the blue monkey he won at the carnival.
"Adrian, you came back."
Placing a kiss to his temple, Adrian spoke softly to Brody. "Of course I came back."
A small smile emerged from Brody, still hazy from his sleep but still aware of the boy in front of him. "How come you brought the monkey over?"
Adrian put the monkey down so it was sitting next to Elly the elephant. Adrian just shrugged nonchalantly as he answered him. "Thought he could keep you company whenever I'm not around."
Brody watched as Adrian took his time to carefully put the stuff toys next to each other. Being careful and considerate with handling them, Brody was in awe of Adrian. "That's like one of the sweetest thing someone's done for me."
Adrian stripped off his clothes as he climbed into bed with Brody. When he finally settled himself inside the bed, Brody pulled Adrian into a long, drawn out kiss.
No more words were spoken during the rest of the night as both of them were already tired. With both boys now resting in bed, side to side and so close to each other, they fell asleep with the comfort of the person laying down next to them.
