《Growing Attached To My Competition ✔️》Chapter 20 - Morning Call

Author's note: So I made a major screw up and accidentally deleted this chapter during the process of organising this whole story.

So I had to speed write this and try to fix it with the notes I had and from what I remembered.

But I honestly don't remember a lot from this chapter, and my notes were pretty vague. So I'm sorry if it isn't as good as before.

Adrian was woken up by the sensation of soft and delicate fingers stroking his arm. His eyes were still closed as he smiled into the touch, enjoying the feeling of the warm body besides him.

When he rolled around onto his other side, Adrian opened his eyes to see Brody looking softly at him. Adrian was smiling back at Brody when he leaned forward to kiss him gently.

"Morning."

Brody pulled Adrian in again and gave Adrian another gentle kiss before pulling away. "Morning, sleep well?"

Adrian snuggled himself closer into Brody's warmth as Brody wrapped his arms tighter around Adrian. "Really well, I could get used to this."

Brody ran his hand across the side of Adrian's arms, sharing the same sentiment as he didn't want this moment to end. "Me too."

Adrian grabbed a hold of Brody's hand and entwined their fingers together. He then pulled Brody's hand towards him and kissed it. "What time is it?"

Brody reached for his phone and looked at the time. "7:40."

Adrian let out a soft exhale as he continued to bask in Brody's warmth. The room was silent as they continued enjoying the moment between them, not having another care in the world but each other.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Brody was cuddling Adrian in their bed as Brody began peppering Adrian with gentle kisses. Sadly they were soon interrupted when they heard a knock on the door. Inside his head, Brody mentally groaned at the intrusion that was distorting their peaceful morning.
Adrian got up from the bed as he made his way over to the door while Brody collapsed back onto the bed, disappointed that they couldn't carry on.
Adrian opened the door to Adam, who invited himself into their room. "The receptionist told me that your room got changed," Adam then looked around the room and noticed how it was so much nicer than all of the other rooms. "Wow, what an upgrade."
Adam looked towards the bed and took a second glance when he saw that it was only 1 very large bed with only 1 duvet visible. He had a pondering look on his face as he turned to Adrian. "Did you both sleep on that bed together?"
Adrian rubbed the back of his neck as he looked at the bed instead of Adam, trying to stammer up an excuse. "Yeah, the couch wasn't comfy and we both were alright with it anyway. No biggie."
Adam seemed to accept that as he just shrugged his head. "Anyway, I just came to tell you guys that everyone has to come down for breakfast in 20 minutes. Coach's order as he wants to run a breakdown on how to behave before the big game and all that crap."
"Okay we'll meet you down there. We're just going to shower and get changed first."
Once he heard that, Brody seemed to finally get out from under the covers as he waddled out of bed in just his underwear. Adrian watched as Brody closed the bathroom door behind him, not missing the smirk that formed on Brody's face after being caught staring.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Breakfast at the hotel was nice and peaceful. However the teams were still separated as the room was split up between the Ravens and the Eagles by sheer habit.

Adrian sat down after serving himself a massive stack of pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and waffles. Manners were out of the window as Adrian began to scoff down the food, enjoying every second of it.

While Adrian was eating his food, he saw that Adam was on his phone again, and smiling because of it. "That Ashley?"

Adam was shy as he told Adrian how they have been constantly texting each other. "She's really cool and everything, we even have the same taste in movies and music."

Seeing his best friend's softer side made Adrian have a warm smile. "You are so cheesy, Adam."

Adam laughed back because he knew it was true, he was developing feelings for Ashley and both of them knew it. "Hey when you find someone, your inner cheesiness will come out and I will fully support your lovey dovey feelings."

Adrian couldn't help but sneak a glance at Brody who was across the room. As if he sensed the pair of eyes on him, Brody looked back at Adrian and gave him a small smile that made Adrian's heart feel warm.

'You don't know the half of it.'

~~~~~~~~~~
Later that evening, everyone was at the stadium as they all took their seats. Adrian had brought over a tray of food for the three of them.
Brody was placing the popcorn in his mouth when he asked, "So who's this player we're meant to be looking out for?"
Adam was craning his head as he looked down at the ice rink to look at all of the players. "That one," Adam said as he pointed at the guy with the number 20 jersey, "Jetson."
Adrian spoke with admiration in his voice as he aimed to match Jetson's career path. He idolised Jetson because he was proof that anyone from Craftswood Academy could make it. "Coach talks about Jetson all the time, he's so proud that an alumni from our school has made it big."
~~~~~~~~~~~

The game ended with Jetson scoring the winning goal for his team at the last second. The stadium roared with cheers as everyone around Adrian was celebrating. He even saw Coach Taylor was extra proud that Jetson was named the MVP.

They were all heading towards the exit when Coach Taylor managed to snag backstage passes for the Ravens to go and meet the players.

Adrian quickly said goodbye to Brody as the rest of the Eagles were heading back to the hotel. As they left, the Ravens went in the opposite direction and towards the locker room.

Before they were allowed inside, Coach Taylor called the team around him. "Now you guys better not embarrass yourselves, and be on your best behaviour."

The group of players nodded along as they were soon let in by the security guard. Once they were inside, Adrian got to see the winning team in front of his own eyes.

Adrian was in awe as he admired the talent that overflowed this room. The room was busy with the players receiving ice baths, some of them were getting out of the showers and some were being interviewed by the local news station.

While everyone else was doing their own thing, Coach Taylor took Adrian aside to meet Jetson. When Jetson was in front of Coach Taylor, they immediately hugged each other as Coach Taylor had the biggest grin that Adrian had ever seen on him.

While they were talking to each other, Adrian saw Jetson point at him and ask who he was. Coach Taylor proudly stood by Adrian's side to formally introduce him.

As proud as he could be, Coach Taylor placed both of his hands on Adrian's shoulder in a supportive and proud manner. "This is best player of the new Ravens team, meet Adrian Jones."

Adrian shook Jetson's outstretched hand and even bowed slightly to him. "It's such an honour to meet you."

Jetson chuckled to himself as he made the notion for the both of them to sit down together. "The pleasure's all mine, if the Coach vouches for you then I know you are just as talented."

Adrian was humble at the compliment as he continued to talk to Jetson. "I've loved ice skating ever since I grew up with it, I'm the fastest in my team and I'm extremely agile."

Jetson smiled back at the aspiring and passionate player in front of him. "That's great to hear."

"Is there any advice you could give me? I would love to make it someday, like you did."

Jetson thought about the advice he could give Adrian. "Well obviously you have to show your dedication by practicing a lot, make sure you don't neglect you education too since we can break the stereotype of just being thuggish jocks with no teeth."

Adrian was laughing at the joke when Jetson was called for an interview. "I'm glad we got to talk, I have to go and do an interview now but I wish you the best."

Just before he was about to leave, Jetson turned back to Adrian to give him one last bit of advice he just remembered. "One last thing, make sure you have a good support system by your side. I couldn't have made it this far without my childhood sweetheart, who is now my fiancé. She helped me in more ways that I could imagine and I will always be grateful for her help."

After they both said goodbye to each other, Adrian was left soaking in m the advice Jetson gave him. It made him more determined to make it big as Adrian felt everything in his life right now was going so well.
