《Growing Attached To My Competition ✔️》Chapter 7 - At The Library

The next day, Adrian was sitting alone in the library studying. The library was strangely packed that day as all of the computers were unavailable. Adrian had to set himself down in the only available space which was a table in the corner, headphones plugged in his ear.

He spent the next 20 minutes minding his own business as he focused on one of the subjects he struggled at. Adrian was too busy, with his head down in the books, that he didn't see Ashley and Brody try to get his attention.

Brody leaned across the table as he reached towards Adrian and pulled his headphones out. Adrian looked up at the intrusion and his eyes met a pair of clear blue eyes. The same pair of eyes behind the person he couldn't get out of his thoughts since last night.

"Brody." Adrian whispered quietly, surprised to see his face so close to his. Adrian forgot how to breathe as he could now see up close how clear and smooth his skin was; he could smell the aftershave coming of Brody.

'He smells nice.' Adrian thought to himself before he could stop it.

Brody smiled at Adrian. "Hey, we tried to get your attention but you were looking at your book."

Adrian asked back, "We?" Brody pointed at the person behind him.

Adrian took his eyes away from Brody and looked at the person next to him. "Ashley?" Adrian didn't even realise she was in the room, quite frankly he didn't really care.

'Shouldn't I care she is right next to me.' Adrian speculated to himself in his head.

"Hi Adrian, everywhere else is unavailable so I was hoping we could sit with a friendly face?" Ashley hinted as she charmingly asked.

Adrian looked around the room and saw how packed it still was. "Umm I don't see why not."

Adrian gestured for them to sit down, Ashley took the seat to his left while Brody sat directly opposite him - having a clear vision of each other.

Brody turned to Ashley, "I didn't know you guys knew each other."

Ashley replied to Brody. "Not personally but we do bump into each other quite a bit.

"I see, I wouldn't expect any less from a klutz like you." Brody cheekily smiled.

Ashley pretended to be angry as she smacked Brody, only for him to laugh back. "At least I don't make terrible puns and bad dad jokes constantly you snarky idiot." Ashley joked back.

It didn't go unnoticed by Adrian how the pair kept smiling and laughing with each other - Adrian started growing a little green.

"What are you studying?" Ashley showed interest in Adrian's work.

Adrian closed the book to show the front cover. "Psychology, I'm trying to learn about memory but not all of it is staying in."

"So you're saying you have a bad memory? The irony..." Brody joked.

Ashley gave Brody a blank look but Adrian snickered at the bad joke.

Brody smiled at Adrian before turning to Ashley. "At least someone likes my 'bad' jokes." He gestured at Adrian.

"You don't know anything about memory do you Ashley?" Adrian pleaded as he really did need help with psychology.

Brody interrupted Ashley before she could offer her aid. "I can help you."

"You don't even know what I'm going to ask you." Adrian challenged Brody.

Brody stood up from the chair. "You just said it - memory." Brody walked behind Adrian's chair and pressed himself over Adrian's shoulder.

Adrian felt Brody's bodily pressure as he was now very close to him, face inches away as Brody looked at his book and answer sheet.

'Don't think about him, don't think about him, don't think about him.' Adrian repeated to himself like a mantra.

Adrian was brought out of his thoughts as Brody explained. "The last type of long term memory is called episodic memory. Those are like memories with a special meaning like the first time you played hockey, your first crush." Brody then whispered in Adrian's ear, "Your first kiss..."

Adrian choked at the last part, grabbing his bottle of water as he started drinking it. Whilst drinking he felt a hand on his back, patting it and then rubbing the same spot in a slow circular motion.

Adrian's cheeks started to tint red as he thought about how gentle Brody was being - touching him, caressing him.

'I've really got to get myself out of here.' Adrian thought to himself.

Adrian quickly gathered his things and put them in his bag. "Guys, sorry but I just... remembered I've got this thing. Umm... thanks for the help." Adrian quickly stood up from his chair and walked out of the library before Ashley or Brody could say anything.

Once Adrian turned the corner, he rested his head on the wall. 'Stop it Adrian, don't ever think like that.' He thought to himself.

'All of that meant nothing.' He tried to convince himself.
