《Growing Attached To My Competition ✔️》Chapter 6 - Brody Sinclair

The rest of the day was uneventful. Most of the school was still talking about the temporary merger. Some were excited to see more new people, some people weren't happy with how overrun the school was going to be.

The Craftswood Ravens were definitely unhappy about the idea of sharing their space with the Stonebrook Eagles.

Adrian had just left the school and was on his way to work.

He took a part time job working at the local pizzeria. This was to make some extra money so his mom wouldn't have to pay for everything. It was a decent job that paid well, plus he got to help himself to pizza whenever he wasn't working.

On his way to work, he had time to process the merger and more time to think about everything. Adrian thought about planning a schedule or something similar so they wouldn't have to interact with each other. They could avoid any conflicts and then everything wouldn't be as bad.

He also thought about Sinclair and his mishap earlier at the locker room. 'Okay so maybe I called Sinclair a pretty boy. That means nothing, a guy can say another guy is pretty - whatever. Doesn't mean I have to like the guy still.'

Adrian walked into the pizzeria and made his way into the back room. He nodded his head at his boss before he started to begin his shift.

Tonight wasn't as busy considering it was a Wednesday night. There were a few couples dining in at the restaurant while the takeaways were more busy.

Adrian had another 30 minutes left on his shift before he got to leave and go home. He handed a receipt to the customer as they paid for their food.

As one customer left, another one entered wearing a hoodie and comfort sweatpants. This customer Adrian was recently all too familiar with.

"Why is it that I keep seeing your face everywhere I go?" Adrian asked himself out loud.

Sinclair was still standing by the door, looking back at Adrian confused. "Excuse me? I was on my phone and I didn't hear you."

Adrian remembered he was at work, he had to remain a professional despite the fact the person he despises is standing in front of him. "I meant how can we help you?"

Sinclair walked to the counter. "I have a pizza ordered for Brody."

"Brody?" Adrian voiced.

"Yeah that's my name." Brody replied.

"Let me go check on that for you." Adrian told Brody before walking into the kitchen.

As he made his way back to the counter, he saw Brody on his phone smiling at something.

Adrian coughed to get his attention. Once Brody looked up at him, "The pizza will take a few more minutes if you don't mind waiting."

Brody nodded in agreement. Silence ensued until Brody began to talk. "I didn't know you worked here."

Adrian shrugged, not particular interested into talking to the guy he hated.

"Looks like we'll being seeing a lot more of each other because of the merger." Brody attempted to make conversation with Adrian but Adrian was persistent in making minimal contact with him.

"Not much of a talker huh?" Brody continued. Adrian shook his head no.

"I get it. I'm not much of a talker either. In fact one time my friend asked me why I'm so quiet, I told her that I was worried the CIA were listening. She laughed, I laughed, the Amazon Echo laughed." Brody said deadpanned.

Adrian couldn't help it and laughed, grinning at Brody's joke.

Leaning forward, Brody rested his arms on the counter and showed a big smile. "Aha! Got you to laugh." He exclaimed as he pointed at Adrian.

Adrian tried to return his face back to normal and expressionless but it was too late. He looked at Brody and could see his dimples as he smiled, his blue eyes looking brighter the deeper he looked in them.

Adrian felt a little flutter in his stomach.

'What was that about?' Adrian thought to himself.

Brody stuck his hand out and offered a handshake. "My name is Brody Sinclair."

Just then, Brody's pizza was handed to Adrian by one of the chefs.

Adrian went back into work mode, ignoring that weird little feeling he had before continuing. Adrian held his hand out and ignored Brody before saying, "That will be $14."

Brody nodded as he handed Adrian a $20 bill. "Keep the change."

Brody gave Adrian one last smile - showing of his dimples. "I'll see you around Adrian." Brody waved as he then left the restaurant.

Adrian watched him as he walked away, not realising that he was staring.

'What's wrong with me?' Adrian thought to himself.

Adrian ignored himself as something Brody said just dawned on Adrian, 'He knew my name?'
