《》Epilogue

The party was over at 6am. Simon had nagged me a few times to go to bed because of the baby but I was way too excited to sleep. However, I was absolutely knackered now.

We walked in the bedroom together, still holding hands and Simon let go of me to go in the bathroom. I considered trying to step out of my dress on my own when a box on our bed caught my attention.

It was made out of mahogany and it was carved beautifully with wild flowers and little bees.

“Did you leave this for me?” I asked out loud to Simon.

“What are you talking about?” he answered as I could hear the sink running.

I frowned, running my fingers on the lid of the box before pulling the lid up.

I screamed and let go of the lid, taking a few steps back when I saw what was inside. Simon came, rushing out of the bathroom, looking around bewildered.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, coming to me in a couple of steps and hugging me to his body. His eyes followed my gaze, stuck on the wooden box sitting on our bed.

“What is this?” he asked. He went to open the door but didn’t step back.

He took the folded piece of paper in it and read out loud.

“Congratulations on your wedding. I will leave you some time to enjoy it before I come back for you.” Signed : “The Commander”.

He looked again inside the box, where a dead raven was laid.

The End.
